This listing is for the exact revolver in the photos. We began selling Rossi’s well made copies of the Smith & Wesson Chief’s Special in the 1960s, as the model 30. Our first model 33s came in 1971 with no serial number prefix. Manufacturer is Amadeo Rossi of Sao Leopoldo, Brazil, a Taurus affiliate. Importer was Interarms in Alexandria, VA. From this specimen’s D750000 range serial number, it was manufactured in the mid to late 1970s. It came to us from its home in New England. Type is traditional double and single action. Construction is entirely steel, with Brazilian Walnut magna type service grips. Frame is J Size small frame, with Square Butt Grip frame and 3 screw side plate. Barrel is 2 1/4 inch heavy type, cut from an original 3 1/2 inch. Front Sight is serrated blade on solid rib. Rear sight is frame integral fixed notch. Cylinder capacity is 5 rounds of .38 Smith & Wesson Special caliber ammunition, and Interarms did Not rate its Rossis for +P ammo. Trigger is .240 serrated face service type with semi-target, shorter spur .400 serrated hammer. Thumb latch cylinder release is classic concave type. Weight empty is a well balanced 20 1/2 ounces with center of gravity at the trigger. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, 10 pound vicinity, with a 4 pound single action pull. Safety system consists of a transfer bar that prevents the firing pin from touching a cartridge primer unless the trigger is fully depressed. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive, principally wear and even some sanding evidence on the right side and cylinder surface. Right side plate and trigger guard show residual surface pitting. We rate this 68 as Good, 70 percent vicinity by our estimate; but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. Cylinder times and aligns correctly in all five positions. Lateral cylinder play is minimal with the trigger relaxed, but with the trigger fully depressed negligible. Blast effect to the cylinder face and top strap are minimal. We do not believe this revolver was fired more than 200 times, and none with +P ammunition. Replacement pricing on this model 33’s descendant model 351 is $300 or more in our area. We’re offering the unattractive but serviceable model 33 in the photos, however, for only $ 219.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts.
