For years, Smith & Wesson 9mms had performed admirably with alloy frames; first the 39, then the 59, and then the compact models. When the 5906 in steel frame stainless came online in 1988, many of us immediately demanded a lightweight stainless, hence the 5903. This is one of the first year production specimens, a special order LE gun for the Atlanta PD. TEC serial number prefix and type one, square-faced serrated trigger guard, date it to very early on, perhaps even late 1988. It came to us with one pre-ban 14 shot magazine; we have, however, outfitted it with two high capacity later production orange follower 15 rounders. If any buyers in New York want it, we’ll be happy to retrieve the pre-ban and accommodate as best possible. This specimen has moderate surface detractions. It exhibits extensive holster buffing at a few places on top of its slide near the rear three-dot sight, and there is a moderate amount of operation buffing to the exposed surfaces of the barrel. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 1000 rounds. With the exception of the special order satin stainless .260 factory bobbed serrated hammer, it is thoroughly traditional, and has a matching .304 smooth combat trigger. Trigger guard is type one, square serrated face. We rate it as Very Good, since no more than 20 percent of its surfaces show any contact evidence by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for prostpective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. As far as specs, it is a traditional double- and single-action semi-auto with ambidextrous slide-mounted safety and decocker levers; three dot fixed sights; one piece polymer grip; 4 inch barrel; 29 ounces weight empty; total of two magazines; equipped with firing pin safety and magazine safety. Pricing on the last production 5903 was $700 range. We’re offering this one, however, complete with Smith & Wesson current production blue box, two magazines and manual for only $ 359.95. Not transferable to civilians in California, District of Columbia, or Massachusetts. We will sub one pre-ban magazine for civilian buyers in New York. For buyers in jurisdictions where 15 round magazines are restricted to law enforcement, we will include one Mec-Gar or factory Smith & Wesson 10 round magazine. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges.
