The heavy carbon steel blade is 10 3/4"" and is marked ""Imperial Order Of Ku Klux Klan, Convention 1907 Bristol, Tenn"". I say, ""Novelty Knife', while others say, ""Fake"", because, I find no information that a ""KKK Convention"" took place in Bristol, Tennessee in 1907. According to Official Records, the Klan was ""officially"" disbanded in 1869 and did not ""officially"" re-emerge until 1915, in Georgia. Of course, anyone with some historical knowledge of the ""Klan"" knows that they never ""really"" disbanded. They simply became more ""secretive"". Too, the Washington Post in 1901 estimated the number of Klan membership to be 72000 in Tennesse, alone. History shows that the origin of the Klu Klux Klan to be in Pulaski, Tenn. in 1865 and Eastern Tennesse was a ""hotbed"" of klan activity. The full tang extends through out the entire length (16 1/4"") of the knife. The handle appears to be walnut and rivited with brass. The number ""6"" is stamped on the handle. The Cross Guard is brass. The knives first started showing up at gun shows and flea markets in the late 1950's to the early 1960's. The knives were probably made to look old to fool buyers. Be that as it may, and in my opinion of more than 40 years collecting antique knives, this knife still has significant historical value. It was undoubtedly made with input from the Ku Klux Klan and they probably received a percentage of the profits from sales. Also, the knife was made more than 60 years ago and is very well made."
