Description: America Remembers Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Tribute A Model 1873 Rifle Honoring The Legendary Stars Of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show

Issued To: Vincent J. Sternal No. 216 of 300

All 300 of these limited issue rifles sold out in 2005. My uncle purchased this, #216 of 300, in 2004 and kept it new, in it's original box. It has never been fired and includes box/wrap, case and all paperwork, including Certificate of Authenticity and a Reservation letter addressed to him from America Remembers, United States Society Of Arms And Armour.

This beautiful rifle is in perfect, brand new, mint condition.

Description: A striking portrait of Buffalo Bill is featured on the left side of the receiver. The portrait captures the rugged good looks and distinctive beard and flowing hair that made Cody for years the most famous man in the world. Surrounding him is the legend, “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West,” in the style of the colorful posters of the day. The years “1883? and “1917? are featured, marking the year when Cody first teamed with Doc Carver to bring the “real” Wild West to audiences who had never experienced the frontier, and the year of his death, when his “show” would no longer go on. To the left, two former adversaries stand together as comrades in this magnificent image of Sitting Bull and Buffalo Bill. To the right is, John Y. Nelson, one of the most colorful characters from the real Western frontier traveled with Buffalo Bill for approximately 10 years. A driver of the Deadwood Stage, he was an audience favorite. With his beard and buckskins, he epitomized the image of a rough and tumble Western frontiersman.

A favorite feature of the “Wild West” shows for decades, the Deadwood Mail Coach carried audience members on a wild ride with “hostile” Indians in hot pursuit. In this image, Buffalo Bill poses with the distinguished members of the “Wild West” audience who have been selected for one of the most exhilarating and heart racing trips imaginable, John Nelson is in the driver’s seat, with his trusty rifle, prepared to guide the stagecoach through all dangers and deliver the passengers safely to their final destination. To the left, Buffalo Bill poses with Young Chief and American Horse. The two prominent Native American leaders posed with Cody at Staten Island during an 1886 tour of the “Wild West.” To the right is a portrait of sharpshooter Annie Oakley wearing a few of the many international championship medals she won. She once said, “The marksman who hesitates is lost. Just take it for granted you are going to hit and fire away before you have time to doubt the certainty of success.”

The highly polished walnut stocks are laser-carved with the Tribute title, “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West.”

In addition, the shoulder stock features an American buffalo framed in an oval cameo.
