The cherry wood display case is in approximately 98% overall condition. It ships with the original invoice($2,184.00) and letters by the US Historical Society dated between January 14-29, 1985. It is number 393 of 2,500 pistols manufactured in 1983. The description I will leave to the Society's letter: Yours, like William F. Cody's, is an authentic 1860 Army. The engravings, in 24-karat gold, portray the life and times of this great American hero. You will see Col. Cody's name etched in gold on the barrel, along with an elaborate scroll design. On the cylinder, in exquisite detail, are etched four scenes; Buffalo Bill Cody, Chief Iron Tail, the Congress of Rough Riders, and the Deadwood Stage Coach. On the frame is etched the western stage coach that was featured in the Wild West Show. Please notice the smooth white grips(like those on Col. Cody's Colt), drafted of genuine bonded ivory which is more durable than animal ivory. A buffalo is engraved on the lid of the steel percussion cap box. You will notice that the authentic cannon and flag powder flask is solid brass, plated in 24-karat gold. The display case is cherry wood with an embossed leather top.
