Description: Competitor Sturm Ruger’s introduction of their LCR Polymer framed revolver at the 2009 SHOT show caused quite a stir; here is Smith & Wesson’s answer, and this time the price-competitive shoe is on the Massachusetts foot. Whereas the Ruger LCR 5402 Crimson Trace variant wholesales for upwards of $600 per unit, this Smith & Wesson Bodyguard BG38 has similar equipment for much less money. The Smith & Wesson touts a metal main frame with polymer lower frame; and where the Ruger’s laser mounts on its grip, not exactly the most stable place to put it; this Smith & Wesson Bodyguard’s convenient Laser Sighting Device is mounted to the steel main frame. Where the Ruger depends on a straight-line double pin system to hold its cylinder in place, the Smith & Wesson’s entire ejector star mates into a pentagonally slotted rotor that recesses inside the steel main frame. More than any competitor besides, perhaps, the Charter Southpaw, the Smith & Wesson BG-38 Bodyguard is Left Hand Shooter friendly because its cylinder release is above the internal hammer and beside the laser sight. The Smith & Wesson’s grip is thinner, too; only .794 thick at its thinnest point, and .972 thick at its palmswell area in its center. Grip is one piece stippled texture, held securely by a roll pin near its butt end. Barrel is two piece configuration, stainless sleeve inside a shroud that is an integral component of the main frame. The Smith & Wesson BodyGuard 38, writes the company, is uniquely engineered as the most state-of-the-art, concealable and accurate personal protection possible. Lightweight, simple to use and featuring integrated laser sights- nothing protects like a BodyGuard. Get one and carry more comfortably, walk more confidently. Other specs are double action only revolver; capacity 5 rounds of .38 Special and/or .38 Special +P ammunition; weight empty 14.3 ounces; square notch rear sight and pinned-in serrated ramp front sight; removable Insight Laser frame-mounted sighting device; .240 smooth faced high impact polymer trigger. Photo shows one of the first Bodyguards issued. This particular specimen was test fired at the factory on September 25, 2010, part of the first production run. It has never been out of Smith & Wesson corporate custody until now; never had a 4473 form executed on it. It served as one of Smith & Wesson’s showgirls at the 2011 SHOT Show, and in a few other shows. Box SKU reads 603038NL, instead of the usual 103038; the 6 prefix indicated Demo status. It has never been fired since its initial maiden firing, only handled. Its only surface detractions are faint rotation markings, not significantly more than most new ones we’ve sold. We classify it as Near Mint in Box, Unfired, and photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Replacement pricing on this pistol, and on its Ruger competitors, is $500 apiece or more in our area. We’re offering the exact revolver in the photos for only $ 419.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $12 lower 48; $40 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
