Description: As the United States continued urban growth after World War II, there was a heightened demand for pocket revolvers that combined with metallurgical advances from the War. In 1952, Smith & Wesson's Centennial Year, the company introduced a pair of revolvers, the Models 40 and 42, that took that name. They were non-snagging for pocket use because their hammers were completely enclosed. And they retained a strong element of safety from the old Safety Hammerless Smith & Wessons that they descended from. Here is the best of several worlds, a less dangerous, stronger built, longer-wearing, and more powerful descendant of those 1952 revolvers, the Smith & Wesson Centennial Stainless, Model 640-3. Like almost all its siblings, it has the internal hammer lock, and comes with 2 keys, along with another cable padlock. The 640 is full-time double action; since the hammer is completely enclosed inside the frame. For personal protection, many veteran law enforcement officers and firearms instructors recommend this model 640-3, since the Centennial cannot be fired in single action mode, where a person cocks the hammer and then pulls the trigger. It is an exceedingly dangerous situation when a homeowner hears a noise and immediately backs the hammer on any revolver. This configuration has long been very popular and vastly less dangerous than many of its semi-automatic peers. This Specimen, the 3rd engineering change of the 640 that was introduced in 1989, has the internal lock and is chambered in .357 Magnum Caliber. Barrel length is 2 1/4 inches, full lug, and this revolver weighs 22.5 ounces empty. Maximum overall length is 6 9/16 inches. It comes with recently redesigned factory combat grips. We're offering this fine revolver, the one in the photo or one of its identical mates, for only $ 614.95 Not transferable to civilians in Chicago or NYC. 2% Discount, $617.00 delivered freight paid lower 48, if payment is by USPS Money Order & not credit card.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
