HG8296 This is Smith & Wesson’s very successful model 22A auto in black finish with 4 inch bull barrel. Note that the Sights are fully windage and elevation adjustable and the rib is a full length Picatinny or Weaver type that accommodates most optical accessories. Type is blowback action semi-automatic rimfire. Manufacturer is Smith & Wesson’s Houlton Maine facility. Construction is steel two piece barrel assembly and stamped steel slide and parts, alloy and polymer grip frame. Magazines are chrome plated steel body Walther type with black polymer cartridge follower and floorplate. Weight empty is 29 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at the back trigger guard / frame junction. This pistol comes with both its original 10 round magazines. It is in its original blue factory plastic case with instruction manual, and red cable lock. Surface detractions are minimal, only a faint amount of edge whitening to the sights and to one of the rail slots on the rib. We rate it as Excellent, perhaps Near Mint, in box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Product code is 107400, but one end of the box is factory over labeled with a 607400 label. The 6 prefix indicates Smith & Wesson demo status. This pistol was most likely a Company show girl at a trade show, quite possibly the 2012 SHOT show at Las Vegas. It does not appear to have been fired since it left the factory. We do not see any of the 107400 specimens in the distribution channels any longer, so this well balanced 4 inch pistol may be discontinued.
