Here is a very attractive and eminently serviceable Smith & Wesson .38 Special Military & Police Stainless, numbered model 64, fifth engineering change. Barrel is 4 inch Heavy barrel, true classic square butt grip frame, with fully traditional satin stainless .315 smooth combat trigger and serrated .265 service hammer. Not only that, the entire revolver is professionally refinished to an excellent non-glare satin stainless finish. Serial number prefix is BFT, so this revolver was manufactured in 1990, during the leadup to the First Gulf War. It is excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap is negligible; that area is not distinguishable from the other mill marks on that surface, and this revolver has not digested any significant amount of +P ammunition. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible with the trigger relaxed, and with the trigger engaged there is no movement at all. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels a full 10 degrees in all six positions after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels fully 25 degrees on all six after timing. Single action trigger pull is a very crisp 3 pounds. Grips are new replacement Hogue Combat Conversion. Replacement price on the new two-piece barreled lock variant 64s is $600 apiece or more in our area, and we prefer this one anyway. We’re offering it for only $ 319.95.
