Serial number: 49302 Includes a bayonet stamped "1903" and also includes a scabbard for the bayonet. This rifle was my grandfather's, then my dads, then mine and has not been shot, cleaned, or used in over 60 years. I have no use for guns I don't want to go out and shoot on a regular basis, so I am lightening my load. I'm not a gun expert so I don't know how to rate it's condition, but I take good photos that show it's condition. There is a nick near the end of the barrel caused by taking the bayonet off. There is a ding in the forend of the stock also that you can see in the photos. The gun has not been gunsmithed, sporterized, shortened, or worked on in any way. It does not include the cleaning kit that would have gone in the stock, but there is an opening for the cleaning kit in the metal buttplate. The leather sling deteriorated about 45 years ago. This is the rifle used by U.S. forces in the Spanish-American war.
