He inherited it from his uncle who died in the 1800s. The serial number is 235814. The same number is on the trigger guard, body of the gun, barrel, the butt and on the cylinder. The barrel is 5" long and the cylinder holds 6 loads. On the top of the barrel has "ADDRESS COL SAM L COLT NEW YORK U.S. AMERICA". There is a stagecoach scene on the cylinder but it very worn. You can make out the wheels and the letters "PAT". I don't know what that means. Scratched on the butt is T. Morris. This is my great-great uncle.
