The FFL transfer process is relatively easy, and can save you quite a bit of cash on your next purchase. Here are the basics…
Find a local dealer to receive an FFL transfer for you. It is imperative that you have an FFL dealer already lined up to receive your new gun. I’ve found that there’s always someone willing to do transfers for about $20-$30.
GunsAmerica.com has a “find an FFL Dealer” link at the bottom of their site
It is your responsibility to verify that your local and state laws don’t prohibit you from owning the gun you want to purchase
Pay the seller & initiate the transfer. Once we have agreed on payment terms, we will ask you for your FFL’s contact information and we will initiate the action on your behalf. Once we receives your dealer’s license, we will ship the gun to your dealer and provide the tracking number. After a short wait, your gun should arrive at your dealer
Pick up your gun Pick up your gun at your local FFL dealer. You only have to pay the dealer a ‘transfer fee’. All local laws will apply and they will conduct a NICS background check (with a few exceptions) and form 4473. If you live in a state that requires a waiting period or additional licensing, then you are still subject to those laws. Your local transferring dealer can inform you about the laws and requirements in your area
