It has a rear sight,patchbox in the butt,and cheekpiece stock all of which make me think it is not a shotgun. The stock is also fitted with sling swivels.The stock is carved with deer heads and star designs. The top of the 35" barrel is beautifully gold inlayed with the date,name of the man it was made for and the town it was made in: "En Eibar por Jose Beistegui Ano 1857." The Migulet style lock is very fancy with the hammer in the shape of an animal. This type of lock is often referred to as a "dog lock." Bore is about .72 cal.
