Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this Mauser P.08 Black Widow, serial number 5157L. Manufactured in 1942, this fine example features matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, toggle and toggle pin, extractor, safety, safety lever, sear, side plate, take down lever and trigger. Of note are the Waffenamt acceptance and proof marks on the right-hand side of the slide and left side of the barrel, often faint these impressions are clear and defined. In the ‘Standard Catalogue of Luger’ by Aarron Davis the 1942 production Black Widows are listed as ‘uncommon’ with an estimated 24,000 produced. This example has 96% factory bluing remaining and exhibits an excellent bore with strong rifling. The magazine is the Mauser wrap-around body style magazine with aluminum base, a loading/ takedown tool is also included. This gun wears the famous Black plastic grips which are in excellent condition with crisp diamonds, only about 20% of Mauser 1942 production was delivered in this configuration and gives this Luger variant its nick name-Black Widow!
