Roy Vail was a custom shotgun and rifle maker from Warwick, N.Y. He was a top quality gun maker who made about 150 shotguns and 200 rifles. He often used Francotte or Mauser actions (such is the case with this rifle) and then would perfect the barrel, stock, etc. This is one of the most accurate .270 rifles on the planet! Rifle is in beautiful shape, see photos. Includes a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 scope! The barrel on this rifle is worth more than most complete rifles. Roy Vail was considered one of the best gunsmiths of all time. Tough to find one in this condition for sale (or AT ALL) Serial number on this rifle is 50.
