2nd Amendment Voters Should Vote RON PAULAs the New Hampshire primary approaches nobody should question who the real 2nd Amendment candidate is. It is Ron Paul. The mainstream media is ignoring Ron Paul as a viable candidate, and many of them have come right out and admitted that they will skip over covering Ron Paul no matter how many votes he gets, but you can’t silence the people forever. I don’t expect that Ron Paul will win my former home state of New Hampshire. But if you plan to vote in a primary this election and you vote for anyone other than Ron Paul, be very clear that you are not voting for a Constitutional America, and you are not voting for 2nd Amendment freedom.

That is why I am just going to vote for Ron Paul, come what may.

Mitt Romney was the governor of the most 2nd Amendment abusive state in the US, Massachusetts. The pro-gun stuff he did while governor was ornamental, not substantive. Mitt Romney never even attempted to repeal Mass statute 501-CMR-7.00, one of the most restrictive and ridiculous pieces of firearm law in the United States of America, one that blatantly violates the 2nd Amendment. While campaigning, Mitt repeatedly said he supported the gun laws of Massachusetts, but that he hadn’t supported the legislation when it was introduced, clearly a back and forth, wishy washy position that meant nothing. When asked about his waffling on the 2nd Amendment directly in a debate currently archived on C-SPAN here, he answered:

“Well, I likewise did not support that legislation… I likewise support the right of law abiding citizens to be able to purchase firearms for hunting purposes and target practice and so forth. We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts. I support them. I won’t chip away at them. I believe they help protect us and provide for our safety, but I want our law abiding citizens likewise to have the right to purchase and use a weapon for hunting and other purposes.”
(42:25 minutes into debate)

I won’t chip away at them?? What are you thinking Mitt? The 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting and target practice. This is a politician in the worst example of what we all hate about politicians. So even if you are not a one issue voter and other things mean more to you than your 2nd Amendment freedom, it doesn’t matter. Mitt licks his finger and sticks it in the air no matter what the issue, and he is just playing to your issue at the moment so you’ll vote for him.

Mitt Romney will say whatever it takes to get elected. Are you really going to vote for this guy? New Hampshire? South Carolina? Florida? Nevada? You know you can’t stand him! Just have faith and vote for Ron Paul! Iowa lost their nerve at the last minute and voted for yet another system politician, Rick Santorum, who has admitted that his 2nd Amendment and other conservative credentials are weak. Don’t lose your nerve America! Stand up for what you know you believe in, and vote for Ron Paul!

Newt Gingrich has a deal killer in his past when it comes to guns. When he was Speaker of the House during the latter half of the Clinton years, he never agreed to support legislation to repeal the Clinton “assault weapons ban.” He even called it a “very reasonable position.” Gun Owners of America have a very good, and short, article on the history of Newt Gingrich and 2nd Amendment freedom. It is called “New Gingrich on Guns – A Mixed Record.” It is well footnoted, and I commend them on putting it together, but I disagree with the title. Giving lip service to the 2nd Amendment doesn’t put points in the plus section of your chart. It puts nothing! Why pretend that this guy is anything but a politician trying to win the next election? Newt sounds **great** in debates and in interviews, but his record when it comes to the 2nd Amendment is shoddy at best.

Ron Paul is a whole other story. Not only does he have an A+ rating from the Gun Owners of America, Ron Paul has repeatedly tried to pass legislation rolling back bad gun legislation, expanding shooting and 2nd Amendment rights, and taking the government out of our freedom in every way that he possibly can. Everything that is wrong about our government Ron Paul has fought against for a generation now, and finally America is beginning to listen.
2nd Amendment Voters Should Vote RON PAUL

Even a year ago Ron Paul supporters were labeled kooks. The mainstream media is still trying to label them kooks, but all they want is an America based on the US Constitution. The Federal Government is not supposed to give our tax money to banks and car companies. They aren’t supposed to be in the business of telling us how to eat and how to raise our children, and they certainly aren’t supposed to be able to grab us off the street and imprison us with no trial as long as they want, which they now can. This isn’t the America that our founding fathers envisioned, and it is an America that is now in a hopeless decline.

Ron Paul may have some strong opinions, but in Washington, even if he got in as president they will tie his hands more than anything, and little will change. But another four years of anti-2nd Amendment Obama will be little or no different than 4 years of wishy washy 2nd Amendment Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, or any of the other career politician flunkies besides Ron Paul. If we stand up for what we believe in NOW, Ron Paul will beat these politicians and at least a sliver of truth will send its ripples through Washington DC. We may get some of our rights back!

Don’t lose your nerve America! Vote Ron Paul or don’t vote at all!

As a side note, because I know the comments and questions are going to come in, I’d like to say that I would have loved to include some things from the NRA in this article, but when I went to the NRA website, there is no mention of the primaries or the candidates. The same thing at the NRA-ILA website, and the same thing at the political PAC website. I am an endowment member of the NRA, but this is the first year I have ever gone this early into an election to see what is what, and I can’t believe the eerie silence from the NRA. As 2nd Amendment voters we all try to stand behind the NRA, because they are the hard charger out there, but in a field so littered with weak 2nd Amendment candidates, you have to wonder what is going on, and, as Ron Paul has surged in Iowa, New Hampshire and across the entire USA, why hasn’t the NRA gotten behind Ron Paul?

Please note that this article is just my opinion and does not reflect our advertisers or GunsAmerica members as a whole. At this point more of you come to GunsAmerica every month than subscribe to all of the gun magazines, including the NRA pubs, combined. Our readership on the GunsAmerica Magazine & Blog has reached over 2 million, and new people are finding the great stuff here every day. It would be irresponsible to not mention something about this primary season, but don’t worry, this is not going to turn into a regular commentary on politics for now. We are primarily here to promote guns, shooting sports and excitement in owning fireamrs and shooting, and that is where our energy is going to stay focussed. Thanks as always for being a part of GunsAmerica. And VOTE FOR RON PAUL! -ph@ga

A vote for Ron Paul will ensure an Obama victory. The strategy is divide and conquer. An Obama will will insure another attack on our seconds amendment rights. Ron Paul doesn’t have a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

  • slackr January 16, 2012, 11:20 am

Everyone should stop copping out on the notion that a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama. If Ron Paul were to debate with Obama He would win hand down. What you would see is the mainstream media and corporate america get behind Obama because Ron represents change that would upset the status quo of this country.

  • Alan Words January 13, 2012, 1:05 am

What is all the hoopla about electing reactionary corporatists over Obama? Someone here tell me what Obama has done to abridge and deny our Second Amendment Rights? He signed into law allowing us to carry in national parks, is that the action of an anti gun president? He has taken absolutely no action to squelch gun ownership. Which leads me to another issue, the insane owning guns. There has to be a better way to screen gun buyers for their lack of mental stability. If anyone or any issue is going to end up denying us our rights to own guns it is more of the kooks who legally get their hands on guns and end up doing mass killings as we have seen at VA Tech to Rep Giffords supporters to your neighborhood lunatic that shoots dogs and cats as we have here in our area not Obama.

And to Warren, I do not know what branch of the military you are in but I am a three tour combat vet and soon going for my fourth deployment and everyone I know are Obama supporters. Too many are losing their homes while deployed or seeing their parents and other family members suffer under what they deem as the selling out of America to outside entities by corporatists and Republicans not Obama.

For you who are single issue voters and think that Papa and Baby Paul have your best interests at heart I suggest you read what true Libertarian philosophy of governing and free enterprise marketeering is.

    • ChrisH February 2, 2012, 7:08 pm

What has he done that is anti-second amendment? Have you looked at who he has appointed to the Supreme Court? Gees, pull your head out.

  • Rick January 12, 2012, 11:09 pm

I don’t care for political lobbiest and I won’t do business with them. I don’t like illegals having access to guns sold in the U.S. (gun show loop hole). I’m a believer in the second amendment, but I also believe that any person that has a firearm and can’t pass a back ground check is doing it illegally. I also have a CCL that I’ve worked 55 years to have and proud of it. For some young people in the present time brag about going to jail and gun shows are where these people get their firearms. They just haven’t grown up yet and I’m not going to give an eight year oldone to carry. SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME. Shooting cats, dogs , then anybody that pisses them off. Money is not worth somebodies life. I don’t like the restrictions on accessories, but it’s these criminals that cause those laws to exist.

You Paul supporters obviously haven’t looked closely at his record. Ron talks the big game… such as “no pork”, but he’ll find a bill that is sure to pass, then he’ll add his pork to it, and then vote against the bill. Its a win-win for him. Especially since you Paul disciples won’t dig deep into his record.

And he’s either antisemitc and racist or he’s a horrible manager. Have you seen some of the stuff he’s had in his news letter?

He’s more Articles of Confederation than Constitution.

Ron Paul and the Neoliberal Reeducation Campaign….
    http://spectator.org/archives/2011/08/23/ron-paul-and-the-neoliberal-re

Ron Paul is just there to make sure that the conservative candidate doesn’t win. Rick Santorum is the most conservative candidate left (not perfect, but the most conservative of those running). Too bad we’ll end up with Romney because of Paul…. and Romney will probably lose to Obama.

  • Jeff January 12, 2012, 9:56 am

It saddens and disgusts me to see so many purported ‘gun-rights’ people willfully turn their backs on the Constitution and on liberty and turn into the willing arms of further anti-constitutionalism. Every man and women who votes for one of the other candidates, other than Dr. Paul, is FACTUALLY voting for a man who will absolutely act contrary to the Constitution, erode liberty and more specifically, further weaken and abrogate Amendment II.

    That is a flat-fact.

You all can rationalize, justify, misdirect, lie, weasel, cajole, waffle and attempt to cover the bottom line of your advocacy and support, but when all is said and done, your vote is a direct vote AGAINST the Constitution and Liberty, including Amendment II.

Ruck-up boys, you own it….have the courage and intellectual honesty to at least own what you are telling us that you will do and what you urge others to do.

    It really is that simple.

  • Jeff January 12, 2012, 9:45 am

It is heartening to see some truth and sanity about Ron Paul. It is not disputable that he is the only candidate that advocates and adheres to the Constitution and to the principles of liberty. He is the only candidate of substance and the only candidate calling for a restoration of the Republic.

Any other candidate will advance the same globalist-collectivist agenda that both wings (Dem & Rep) of the ‘party’ have been doing for decades, all at the expense of individual liberty, the Constitution and individual, state and national sovereignty.

I applaud the GunsAmerica Administrator for this public stance in support of the Constitution and Liberty.

  • Cajun Ken January 12, 2012, 3:32 am

WOW! A lot of really informed, educated, and in some cases emotional opinions. That being said, the so called bottom line is this. Whomever the voters decide should run against B.H. Obama, Vote him in!!! Get Obama out!! Then really do your homework and get the best conservative local, state representatives and U.S. representatives and Senators in office! That is the way this works. Vote for whoever your informed decision tells you to vote for, but VOTE!!!! If you can vote, and you do not,you have just voted for Obama. Well gotta go,need to sort out my ammo for a shooting session tommorrow. God bless.

  • Dan January 12, 2012, 12:36 am

I just have to add another voice in support of Ron Paul. He’s the only candidate running that understands the problems our country faces and the only candidate offering a realistic plan to get us back on track. For the I like Ron Paul except for foreign policy crowd understand this- 1. Ron Paul wants to cut militarism, not defense. 2. It’s better that we make cuts of our own choosing now then have our out of control spending force us to make cuts we would rather not later.

  • Wake up January 11, 2012, 11:09 pm

Freedom Watch , look at voting records, and why is paul the only candidate to return the survey to gun owners of america?

  • Mike in Baltimore January 11, 2012, 8:55 pm

A vote for Ron Paul, is a vote to re-elect Barack Obama. Simple as that. So if you really want to see this country die, go ahead, and vote for the bat-shit crazy old fart. Thanks for throwing us all to the liberal mob.

  • Barry Dunn January 11, 2012, 3:56 pm

I would vote for Ron Paul if he had a better stance on foriegn policy it is too dangerous ,for instance is stance on Iran’s nucular program

  • Rod January 11, 2012, 1:55 pm

I hear you & agree on Ron Paul’s 2nd Amendment credentials……but I disagree big time with your statement “vote for Ron Paul or don’t vote at all”.

If Ron Paul does not become the nominee are you suggesting we don’t vote at all? What would we be left with…….Obama and his anti-gun policies.

I would definitely support the candidate who is nominated on the Republician ticket as he would be far more supportive of gun rights than what we have in office today. PLEASE encouage your members to vote Obama out of office in 2012!! Making sure everyone votes is the only way to ensure we don’t get stuck with him for 4 more years!!

  • Josh January 11, 2012, 4:13 am

I for one can respect the opinion of the bloggers, after all it is… uh … a blog!

Hating Ron Paul and calling him an isolationist, idiot, etc., are popular themes for those uneducated about the specifics of his policies that make him the most conservative (voting record in congress since 1937 http://voteview.com/Is_John_Kerry_A_Liberal.htm ) and constitutional candidate in the mix. Because it is so popular to be in the media and hate Paul, I am VERY impressed with GOA for standing up for what they believe is the most 2nd Amendment friendly candidate, and they are right, it is Paul. In order to know such a fact means that they have researched ALL of the candidates and brought you the TRUTH. How dare they!

For those who are freaking out about the ~Vote Paul or Don’t Vote quote, I think we all know what they are trying to say. If you really consider yourself a 2nd Amendment voter, then Paul is the only man for you. As a congressman, Ron Paul has never once voted for any piece of legislation that would infringe on gun owners’ rights or weaken the Second Amendment. Not that wishy washy “I am for hunters gun rights.”

Hilarious responses some very misinformed, but the award for the MOST MISINFORMED goes to…(drum roll):Robert Wyatt!!!:”Ron pauls military service, was as a OB\GYN, not valid at all.” HI-LARIOUS. Yeah that’s what we needed in Vietnam, some good OB/GYN’s, maybe then we wouldn’t have lost so many good babies!

Paul embodies the ideas of the founding fathers, wanting to get us back to a small government, with sound monetary policy, and trade with other countries. The military donates more money to him than all other candidates combined. He has been saying the same things for 30 years, predicted the current economic crisis, the housing bubble, and other gov’t mistakes. …

Keep trying to convince yourself that he’s crazy, but please research his policies, and the ideas behind them for yourself… do not take mainstream media at their word.

“Those who don’t read the news are uninformed. Those who do are misinformed.” Mark Twain.

GOA I applaud your decision to represent truth, even though (the backlash here shows it) it may be unpopular. I will definitely be recommending this site to some friends to replace those you lost that fear the truth. I’m glad I have a gun site to review my guns (and things surrounding them) that I can trust to not pander to me or others.

  • Jimbo January 10, 2012, 9:09 pm

Besides defending the 2nd amendment, Ron Paul is the only candidate who wants to fix our money supply! Politicians like to talk about the expanding gap between the rich and the poor… Well it’s Fed policy that is causing the gap, not private industry! For decades, Fed policy has been to print enough money to cause 3 to 5% inflation. They think this extra paper circulating is going to cause growth. (It doesn’t. How does devaluing money create growth?) It DOES enable our sleazy politicians to pay off last year’s bills with dollars that aren’t worth as much. And what does all this inflation do to individuals? Well it doesn’t hurt the big boss or company owner much. He just extracts what he needs from the business. The rest of us have to beg for a pay raise. When we don’t get the pay raise we fall behind. Year after year… Not only that, but the inflation destroys our savings! You work hard, put your money in the bank to save for that new boat, car, house, or college education for the kids. Then the government reaches in and STEALS 3 – 5% of your money EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Think how much you have lost after 20 or 30 years! Think about it… Food, housing, gasoline, etc. don’t just go up on their own. They go up because the dollars in your pocket aren’t worth as much now as last year, or the year before, or the year before that. The government tries to hide the extent of their stealing with their inflation index. They base it on high tech, big ticket items like flat panel screens, because they know technological advances make it cheaper to produce electronics. But just look at food and other commodities!

Shouldn’t the dollars we earned 20 years ago, purchase the same amount of goods and services today, as they did 20 years ago? If an hour of work 10 years ago bought us a tank of gas, shouldn’t it today?

Congress has abrogated it’s responsibility to COIN money. It has debased our currency. It has STOLEN our savings. Forced us to work longer for everything we need. Forced us to constantly seek different employment just to keep up. So why aren’t people screaming about this?

  • LD NV January 10, 2012, 5:05 pm

I find one main character trait most legal gun owners in America share in common is this–
the American gun owner will do the right thing.
You know the Man who should be President of the United States in 2012.

  • Ray January 10, 2012, 1:03 pm

I vote my conscious. For all of you that think Ron Paul is weak in defense well think again. He is the most honest man running. He will be stronger for defense of this country than anyone running. So go and vote for Romney or the the rest of the hitler’s running. Watch our guns disappear, Ron Paul is the gun owners best friend.

  • Confederate Lady January 10, 2012, 12:11 pm

Suggesting that Second Amendment lovers vote for Paul or no one at all is the most dangerous and underthought idea yet. With America teetering on the brink, the ONLY thing to stop the tumble is to get Obama OUT of the equasion. But the idea given in this blog suggests that if Ron Paul doesn’t get the nomination, then we should not vote at all!? This would be to secure the total collapse of this country! ANYbody, or anyTHING would be better than Obama. No matter WHO gets the GOP nomination, we need to vote for him. Nothing could be worse than to not vote and secure that Obama gets a second chance to complete his ruination.

  • JD Sparks January 10, 2012, 11:30 am

This article is completely wrong. Ron Paul does not support the 2nd Amendment. I can prove it. Ask him if I should be allowed to have a gun in my car while at work? He thinks an employer should have the right to search your car and fire you if he finds a gun out in “his” parking lot, even if you work at a public location!
He cares more about the so called rights of an employer to search MY private property while on HIS property, even if it is open to the public… than he cares about the 2nd Amendment.
Go ahead ask him! I have had one of his cronies confront me on the issue before.

  • kt5w60 January 10, 2012, 1:09 am

Lack of knowledge is the biggest problem.
The GOP is the next biggest problem. How in the world did McCain ever become the primary leader during the last election? He was atbthe bottom of the rung. THEN… all of a sudden, he was the Republican candidate for the President. Does anybody see a problem here. That made Obama a shoe in and he was. That is what the behind the curtain big wigs wanted and what they got.
This is going to be the same problem again. Now , that is why this article was written, to try to educate uninformed individuals where to look. There is no real differance in the two parties. Congress has their own agenda and it has nothing to do with this country. The same old story about devide and conquer.
I firmly believe that Ron Paul will not be the GOP
Educated, informed, or people wanting to know the truth about whom they are voting for will find the truth.
Are you still wondering why congress does not hear us, they don’t care.

  • William Perry January 10, 2012, 12:32 am

What a bunch of crap… My vote is just that, MINE and it will be cast as I see fit and not “wasted” just because the myopic Mr. Helinski says so. I happen to agree with some things Ron Paul claims to stand for, however I just cannot bring myself to vote for a paranoid, nut job, Truther. Deny it if you will, but it is who he is, although he has tried to distance himself from that condition. Then there are his foreign policy positions which are completely delusional and dangerous.

I belong to the NRA, I have plenty of guns of all varieties and the second amendment is very important to me, however this is far from a single issue election. As bad as things may appear to be, we are not at the point of needing to promote the idea of taking up arms against our government. Dabbling in that arena of thought, only perpetuates the stereotypical image the liberals are so good at selling to the masses. For the time being, I prefer to remain as a part of society and not be painted into a corner, as a dangerous cook, which many of you come off as being with your silly all caps rants.

Militia and separatist types, just chill out… this article does not apply to you, remember? As you love to keep telling everyone, you don’t need a vote, you have your guns!

  • Warren January 10, 2012, 12:27 am

In 2008 Ron Paul got more campaign contributions from the military than all the other candidates COMBINED. At this point Ron Paul has 3 TIMES the campaign contributions from active duty military than all the other candidates put together, but NOTHING on the media about it. If that doesn’t SCREAM to us that we are all being lied to and Ron Paul is right on foreign policy, blowback, and these wars, I don’t know what is wrong with us. The media is OWNED by war profiteers folks.

  • Nikola Tesla January 9, 2012, 10:50 pm

The gun runners program started under Bush, then morphemed into Fast & Furious under Obama! The NRA that pushed for donors exposed for all other groups other then their selves, as a deal with the democrats, so wake up, who else is going to protect 2nd. rights? Bush/NRA Dems violated returning vets 2nd. rights for seeking out mental health care, instead of pursuing private vouchers for mental health check ups to save their careers, & 2nd. rights, that was pushed by Ron & GOA, not to mention Harry Reids endorsement by the NRA!

  • Nikola Tesla January 9, 2012, 10:42 pm

Ron is not a member of the JBS, but what if he was? Do you even know anything about the group formed because of the murder of Capitan John Birch in Communist China?

  • Nikola Tesla January 9, 2012, 10:08 pm

Ga. has a confiscate your weapons at roadblocks, during a declared emergencies, that was placed on the books by Barnes in 2002, and subsequently protected by RINOs ever since, from Sonny Perdue to now Nathan Deal! Remember this as well as NRA/Democrats/Bush’s betrayal of returning vets’ lost of their 2nd. rights for asking for mental health treatment, instead of the push Ron Paul made with mental health groups to give out private vouchers, so no pressure on the career or loss of 2nd. rights! Maybe T-Bo Twiggs & his brother would be alive today with that type of help?

What the hell? I read your newsletter and in it, you guys stated “Vote Ron Paul or don’t vote at all?? Really? Either I vote for Paul or I should just give up my constitutional rights? That sounds a lot like what the morons who voted in Obammy were saying and you can see what he has done to this country. You guys just lost any business I would have done with you in the future and I hope a LOT of “right” thinking people follow my example.

  • jh January 9, 2012, 9:10 pm

you all ever heard of fast and furious hmmm obama administration coverup crap

  • Mark Wynn January 9, 2012, 8:36 pm

Please don’t be a Vote (single issue) or don’t vote at all … citizen. That’s what got us into the current mess. Be smart. The USA has a system to elect our government. Jump in … or watch and weep from the sidelines.

  • Mark Wynn January 9, 2012, 8:19 pm

Single-issue Repubs and Independents, who voted for an unelectable candidate … or not vote at all … are the reason we have the current administration, and our country is on the verge of debit crisis, and every other kind of crisis. Please don’t be a single issue voter. Use your head. Promote your issue … but support a candidate that can fix the current mess.

  • Stephen Gill January 9, 2012, 8:16 pm

Ron Paul is true statesman. Unfortunately, the dumb down American electorate will continue to endorse NeoCon GOP warhawks that support war and bloodshed on our taxes instead of defending the American People and our country. Go figure. Support Ron Paul by donating to RONPAUL2012. Talk is cheap. The BATF needs to be stopped and terminated just like all the other US Departments that are just shell organizations for the CIA.

  • Don January 9, 2012, 7:40 pm

Ron Paul is just a notch above obommer. He is a LIBERAL INDEPENDENT, he has already said he might swap over to the libertarian party, he is not a conservative, just another scumbag politician. The independent party is just democrats in disguise! Do not throw your votes away on him. How many times has he run as an independent liberal? Vote republican across the board. Get conservatives back in, if we do that then congress will not let the gun gitters get their way. Come on people get together and send the communist obummer party packing! Vote conservative not liberal

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 8:12 pm

Do you know why he’s running Republican? Because he knows people are too stupid to look at other parties besides the Demicans and the Republicrats. Sadly he was right as can be seen by his approval among national polls. Dr. Paul is more conservative than any of the other candidates. 30 years of a perfect constitutional voting record backs this claim up. Look it up yourself. You might be surprised!

    • Ordinary Joe January 9, 2012, 8:32 pm

      Romney IS Obama Lite.

    • ChrisH February 2, 2012, 6:45 pm

Wow, no wonder we are in trouble as a country. Can anyone really be so out of touch that they think Libertarians are Liberals?

  • Billy Bob January 9, 2012, 7:32 pm

The most ridiculous thing in the world you could do is vote for this idiot, simply because he supports the 2nd ammendment like we all do. Thats almost as dumb as a black person voting for Obama simply because he is black.

Pauls views are way out in the outfield of common sense, especially his isolationist view of defense. C’mon. we vote for the guy who will make the most sucessful president, not the guy who has one thing in common with us.

  • Harold January 9, 2012, 7:13 pm

I am tired of the same old back scratching politicians getting elected every term! We need to stand up and vote for a person that will uphold the Constitution…………That would be Ron Paul! Voters, lets get a life!

  • Rell77 January 9, 2012, 6:39 pm

What commie socialistic moron is runnings ga blog I don’t want their email anymore.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 8:34 pm

Since when did the Constitution become commie or socialist?

  • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 6:25 pm

You guys crack me up with the “A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama”. Get real, if Romney were any more liberal he’d be hanging out with Bill Ayers and hiding his birth certificate. BOTH parties are filled with corrupt, establishment puppets. Ron Paul is the only true American unlike these mouthpiece chicken hawks and he has a 30 year voting record to prove it.

    • CA January 12, 2012, 10:16 am

You obviously haven’t looked closely at his record. Ron talks the big game… such as “no pork”, but he’ll find a bill that is sure to pass, then he’ll add his pork to it, and then vote against the bill. Its a win-win for him. Especially since you Paul disciples won’t dig deep into his record.

Ron Paul is just there to make sure that the conservative candidate doesn’t win. Rick Santorum is the most conservative candidate left (not perfect, but the most conservative of those running). Too bad we’ll end up with Romney because of Paul.

  • OldStabby January 9, 2012, 6:22 pm

With Paul I can keep my guns: great! I will lose my my Social Security and Medicare under Paul thinking. Things I’ve paid into my whole life. He’s for stealing 100’s of thousands of dollars from me. If you’re in your 40s or 50s and vote Paul you’re a fool. Unless you don’t need those things to survive. To all the young folks who think he can change the drug laws I say you’re foolish if you believe he’ll do anything about the phony war on drugs. He has don NOTHING in that realm. He gives you lip service and you eat it up.

Agreed Ron Paul is the best choice, but he doesn’t stand a snow balls chance in hell. . No one, I repeat, No one the republicans are running is anywhere near as anti American as Obummer.
We must keep sight of the major goal ANYBODY BUT OBAMA.

  • JOHN-LAW January 9, 2012, 6:03 pm

Agreed Ron Paul is the best choice, but he doesn’t stand a snow ball chance in hell. You got to remember the goal here is

  • George Herion January 9, 2012, 5:56 pm

Ron Paul is a flake. He is further to the left than obama. Be fully informed about this man before you vote. He makes a stance so far to the right that he would never get a full Republican vote (12.4%). So, his goal is to draw enough votes away from the Republican candidate so that the democrap is a shoe in. Do you like what you got in 2008? Want the same in 2012. Think about it before you pull the lever. H

  • Don Rasher January 9, 2012, 5:35 pm

My opinion of “Guns America” as a source for ANYTHING just took about a 1000% hit! RON PAUL, ??? Are you freakin kiddin me??? The same wacko nut, that thinks is OK, to allow IRAN to have the nuclear weapons? The very same Ron Paul that wants to legalize ALL drugs, including Meth, Cocaine as well as Marijuana? The very same Ron Paul that wants to totally isolate America? The same Ron Paul, that although he denies it, and claims to disavow it, yet still allowed his name to be used on those horrible racist newsletters 20years or so ago? Why didn’t he stop it and disavow it then? The same Ron Paul that want to gut the US military even more so that Obama. You know, there are other candidates in thr Republican party that will protect the second amendment just fine with out resorting to the total complete INSANITY of Ron Paul! Ron Paul thankfully will never get the nomination, and it he did, you might as well re-innagurate Obama right now. Ron Paul is probably the ONLY candidate in the Republican field that COULDN’T beat Obama. Read this:
    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_presidential_election/january_2012/gop_voters_view_romney_as_strongest_obama_opponent_paul_the_weakest

You are nuts to even consider Ron Paul.

  • Kaycey351 January 9, 2012, 5:32 pm

Anyone who would vote for a candidate because of one reason of support should have their head examined. Ron Paul has ties to many organizations which have been connected to George Soros. You’d better do your homework before blindly supporting anyone. There are many deceivers and liars out here. Many people will promise things like supporting your 2nd Amendment rights and upholding The Constitution,…..they’ll even promise a completely transparent government full of hope & change. RP is too radical and seems to think that Iran should enjoy the same rights in the world as the USA. Do any of you believe that Iran should have a nuclear weapon because they have the same rights in the world as we do? If so then vote for Ron Paul. Many of his beliefs are sound and clearly constitutional while others are wacko and clearly dangerous to our security.

  • Ed Tilley January 9, 2012, 5:32 pm

A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama! I’m not debating Dr Pauls views, but he has as much chance of winning this race as Adolph Hitler does! You are guilty of single-issue shortsightedness, and that, my friend, can ruin this nation.

Anyone subscribed to your list is likely enough of a gun person to know how to vote, without your piss-poor advice.

    Ed

  • Lou Gots January 9, 2012, 5:19 pm

Guns and drugs don’t mix, and any supporter of the RKBA who votes for Ron Pual would have to be ON CRACK.

A vote for Paul would be a vote for Obama, period. Obama has already appoined two gun-grabbers to the Supreme Court, and if re-elected, he will flip the Court. Sure, we won Heller and McDonald, but what comes now are the cases which define the Second Amendment, what the lawyers and law professors call the “progeny” of Heller and McDonald.

Absolutely not We NEED A.B.O. (anybody but Obama) in 2012, and voting for Ron Paul dosn’t get us that.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 8:03 pm

There are no democrats and there are no republicans. They are both bought and paid for by the big banks. You’re being lied to.

  • Doc January 9, 2012, 4:45 pm

“This is not a world in which one can turn the other cheek. Doing so does not avoid violence, but rather encourages it. The bad guys threaten, but they do not seem to want to get hurt. They should be taught that their presumed victim is more dangerous than they are. This is not a matter of weapons but rather of will.” – Jeff Cooper

This is exactly the opposite of Ron Paul’s foreign policy. I think most people here know who Jeff Cooper is.

  • Dennis White January 9, 2012, 4:28 pm

Whether Ron Paul is for or against anything, why, oh why is this newletter telling me what I should do? Like my religion, my politics are mine and mine alone. I resent that the newsletter thinks that it has to tell me what to do , what to think, how to vote. Everyone has opinions, and only one counts–mine, because I make my decisions based on my opinions, not yours nor the newsletter’s. If there are FACTS about Ron Paul and other political figures that the editors of the newsletter thinks are important to the gun-owners of America, let them present them as verifiable facts.
I like this newsletter for the articles and evaluations on firearms. If I want political advice, I’ve got five brothers and sisters who have opinions that I value a hell of a lot more than some no-name faceless editor of a firearms based newsletter. If i want political advice, I am sure that I can go to any of the candidates websites and they’ll tell me just why their candidate is so much better than the others. I expect that from them. I don’t expect that from a gun based newsletter, and I don’t want such an obviously biased source telling me what I am to do and vote. I don’t need this kind of political crap from this newsletter. I want gun and ammo related articles instead.

  • BLH557 January 9, 2012, 4:21 pm

Before you all jump to vote for the “only 2nd amendment” candidate I’d like to let you know what my US Rep, Dr. Ron Paul felt about a very important piece of 2nd amendment legislation, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill recently passed by Republicans AND Democrats. Following is a letter I received from MY US Rep, Dr. Paul on why he voted “NO” (by the way his nickname is Dr. NO) on this important piece of 2nd Amendment legislation.

    Dear Dr. Hughes:

Thank you for contacting me regarding reciprocity for concealed carry licenses. It is important that I hear from my constituents and concerned citizens; your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Most states have their own concealed carry programs and have made agreements, on their own, to recognize concealed carry licenses from other states. Since the federal government does not have the authority to force states to recognize other states’ licenses, this then is the responsibility of the states to handle and decide. For this reason, I cannot support a nationwide “carry concealed” reciprocity. I will, however, continue to work on repealing gun control legislation, including repealing the “instant” Brady check.

Okay, so he refuses to vote for a law, by the way the US Constitution does require the Federal Government to regulate interstate commerce to assure parity, to allow parity between states. Looks to me like he’s just playing his old “Dr. No” game. Does anyone think he’ll be different as President? Not on your life… or guns, for that matter. He talks the good talk, but when it comes down to it he’s ALL TALK. He doesn’t even vote for his OWN bills! Come on; let’s have a better reason to vote for someone that his taste in Aluminum Foil headgear!

    • ChrisH February 2, 2012, 6:37 pm

      Actually he was correct
. Interstate commerce has nothing to do with forcing states to recognize other state’s concealed carry licenses. As much as I’d like to see all state’s do so the federal government does not have the right to make them. This is a big part of our problem. Americans want whatever laws they like to be passed and are completely willing to misinterpret the Constitution, or ignore it all together to get what they want.

  • Troy January 9, 2012, 4:10 pm

So many folks here are slamming Ron Paul and saying they just couldn’t vote him – primarily due to his foreign policy. So tell me then, if not Ron Paul then who? I’m serious. Have you all looked at the GOP offering? Most of the guys scare me considerably more the Ron Paul does. So again, if not him then who?

    • CA January 12, 2012, 10:07 am

      Rick Santorum

  • Mark January 9, 2012, 4:07 pm

Gotta be crazy. Vote for a candidate based solely on his 2nd amendment stance when he’s seriously inept at soooo many other issues…such as NATIONAL SECURITY! Holy smokes, it’s this kind of nonsense that got us where we are now. LISTEN to the guy. You want to hear that for the next 4 years. He might be smart, but he’s not a 2012-get-us-out-of-the-ditch candidate for sure!

  • Skeeve January 9, 2012, 3:56 pm

Vote Cthulhu! Why settle for the *lesser* evil? 😉

Seriously folks, the Presidential elections are the least important: the vital choice in a President is his foreign policy. That’s why tricky Dick was a better president than Carter, even tho’ Jimmy is by far the superior human being, & Nixon was a criminal! By the time we get around to voting for a president, the damage has been done: we need to electing the right *Representatives* & _Senators_, so that the bad laws never even cross the President’s desk for signing [or not!]

Here in CA we’re screwed: there’s no way right-thinking folk can elect decent senators, which is why those demagogues Boxer & Feinstein [a fine *stain* on civilization is what she is!] keep getting returned to the Beltway… & Ron Paul has virtually no chance of being elected here either, I’m sorry to say, because he’s not “pretty” enough to be president [“Welcome to the PRK, where the money is plastic & the people are too…”]

Anyway, I’ll vote for Ron because he’s the best choice, but don’t expect it to do any good: we need to do better *before* the Presidential elections come around…

  • Scott January 9, 2012, 3:44 pm

Ron Paul???? A vote for Ron Paul is a wasted vote. Paul will destroy the country by dismantling our military. I do like his fiscal policies but he is NOT a strong leader and will most likely cancel my membership to this website for even considering him as anything but a joke.

  • Q January 9, 2012, 3:34 pm

Ron Paul makes a lot of sense. We should embrace our freedom and not vote it away. Ron Paul wants “The People” to have more freedom…not less like everyone else. Politicians use excuse after excuse to convince you to give up your rights. Ron Paul wants to give those rights back to you.

  • Ahmed January 9, 2012, 3:19 pm

Ron Paul is the only Constitutional candidate and has been for 30 years. Mitt Romney even said it in the last debate, “ask the Constitutionalist!”. Lets not forget he is the only one who has a clue about economics and how keynesian “spend more” economics will never lead to a stronger and more free America. He actually reads and studies, watch all his interviews. He always has an educated answer, albeit long, it’s about time we put a real Constitutional educator in the Presidency.

I stand by the Founder’s Constitution. I stand by Ron Paul.

  • Idahoser January 9, 2012, 3:10 pm

as long as the system is rigged to fail, it doesn’t really matter who the president is.

Even the ghost of George Washington could be little more than a speed bump on the road to serfdom in this country.

If you want the improvements all of you are dreaming of, the system has got to be restored to the one given to us by our founders. We must restore the only check on runaway federal government that ever worked- we must repeal the 17th amendment and get the states off the sidelines and back in the fight.

Had enough govt gone wild? Call their parents- repeal the 17th.

  • CA January 9, 2012, 2:26 pm

Ron Paul has you all fooled. Look more closely at his record. You guys are disciples, not supporters. He’s the worst choice of those running… and that’s saying a lot when you consider how bad Romney, Huntsman, and Gingrich suck. Either Rick would be tons better than Paul or any of the others.

  • WaltNH January 9, 2012, 2:24 pm

    Backing Dr. Paul 100% !
Our 2nd amendment is being targeted by outside sources such as the UN. We are a Republic, We are a sovereign nation…hands OFF. Now if we can get a REAL Constitutionalists in the whiteHouse, to fend off the internal sources.
    2012 + Freedom + Liberty = Paul.

  • deeks January 9, 2012, 2:15 pm

You people are idiots if you thing any of the candidates give 2 cents about anyone other than millionaires. Get real. Ron Paul? are you kidding me, 25 years as a congressman and nothing accomplished but taking a government check. Wake up.

  • Gmartine January 9, 2012, 2:12 pm

I don’t have any guns but I am completely in support of 2nd amendment rights and I see why this right is so important to my friends. I also see how Ron Paul has not only stood up for the 2nd amendment but has been fighting so hard against such adversity to protect this right for Americans. I hope that those who want to protect that right also stand with Ron Paul in his campaign to be president.

  • DT January 9, 2012, 2:10 pm

I am all for the 2nd Amd. And anyone who will stand up for it. It is the other things about Ron Paul That scares me . Keep in mind If R Paul does not get the nomination and it comes to a 3rd party runner , these volts will come from the republican side and Obama will again be in office, with him in office for another 4 years, America as we know and love it will be gone forever.
Anyone with anykind of common sence has to know you can not spend more money than you have without going broke.
Why dose the US Gov. borrow $ from one contry and give it to an other, then we the people have to pay it back, We have to get a repubican in office , hopfully one with some comon sence. Please for the sake of future America do not slpit of to a 3rd party vote.

  • GREG G. January 9, 2012, 2:00 pm

Did you fall out of your deer stand onto your head? Voting for Ron Paul for president would make as much sense as resurecting Neville Chamberlain and having him run our foriegn policy. There is other things to consider than his stand on the 2nd Amendment. I wouldn’t vote for someone who is a member of the John Birch society just because he believes in the 2nd Amendment.

  • 1776 January 9, 2012, 1:57 pm

The NRA also supported the 2012 NDAA bill- which opens the door for the military to be used to eliminate due process regarding U.S. citizens on U.S. soil.

I am VERY dissapointed. I OWN a gun shop and feel duped by them.

“Freedom First” ? I wish the NRA was truly in support of that.

    • AG January 9, 2012, 2:59 pm

That’s why I stopped listening to the NRA long ago because they are sell-outs and started listening to GOA, Gun Owners of America.

  • GSW January 9, 2012, 1:54 pm

Perhaps as some say, our support of Israel in the middle east leds to the attacks we took from muslim radicals over the years. So What! When one takes a moral stance to support a nation that beleives in a strong work ethic, freedom of speech, religion, and the right to bear arms in another part of the world, and we are attacked for it by those who oppose these ideals, then I say we picked the right side. If we don”t support those ideals elsewhere, then we run a real risk of having to fight for them all over again here on our own soil. Like it or not the world is getting smaller, and Iran could deliver a nuke to a cell here if they ever develop one. They would not hesitate to do so either becuase after they hate us almost as much as they hate Israel or any other nation that rejects Islam as the only religion. They don”t make public threats to many other nations because they view Israel and ourselves as the major threat to this belief sytem and also because they don’t want to alienate the rest of the world. As a 20 year vet, I’ve seen what happens when allow our military to shrink, and then have to play catch up all over again. I agree we should get out of the U.N. the world bank, audit and get rid of the Fed, but allowing a declared enemy to enhance a weapons capability without consequence is absurd. Sorry Guns America but this poisition is nuts. Where we have interests they must be protected. LIke-minded people who have our same values, like the people of Israel deserve our support even if Iran ond others don’t like it. Remember they don’t mind dying trying to force Islam upon us. I’ve never been afriad to die to keep my nation and our ideals safe. When push comes to shove, I’ d rather be doing it in the enemy’s back yard intead of our own.

    • AG January 9, 2012, 2:55 pm

I believe in American ideals of a strong work ethic, freedom of speech, religion and the right to bear arms. But how many people do you think you and I will convince of that at the point of our guns? If they attack us, I will be the with you to defend our way of life!

We weren’t attacked for it by those who oppose these ideals. Did you realize that our CIA helped overthrow a democratically elected government in Iran in 1953? Search on “Operation Ajax”. That is only one of many meddlings our foreign policy has sponsored in the Middle East. If other countries had interfered with our elections, or sent money to support a violent overthrow of our government, do you think we would be very happy? Think about how the Iranians must feel.

Did you know that Israel has nuclear weapons? Did the U.S. or Soviet Union ever have to fire nuclear weapons at each other? Certainly the threat is enough of a mutual deterrent. We definitely can support Israel without stealing it from our own poor and middle class. Let’s support Americans first! Because it doesn’t matter what happens in the Middle East if America has rotted from within because we fed others before we fed ourselves.

  • Jason Ferrier January 9, 2012, 1:50 pm

To all of you sissies on here worried about Iran: Quit believing the hype. Islam is the largest religion in the world and we have allowed the actions of a small radical group to make Americans fear them all.
There are more Jews living in Iran than any other Middle Eastern Country except Israel. Some of these people have even been offered money from Israeli Jews to move to Israel and very few accepted and chose to stay in Iran where Jews have stated they are able to practice Judaism freely. http://www.iranjewish.com/News_e/Iranian.htm

Jews in Iran are protected by the Iranian Constitution and have representation in the Parliament that is even disproportionate to the population.

Iran does not intend to wipe us or Jews off the map . Iran’s problem is with the Israeli Regime occupying Palestine and with us giving aid to this effort and they have clearly said this. If they hated Jews why haven’t they started killing Jews living in Iran? There is really no basis for thinking Iran wants to invade or nuke the US.

Ron Paul is not electing Obama, those supporting anyone else are. Obama will destroy Romney, Newt, Santorum just by using their own lousy records. So go ahead and support them, and when we invade more countries, and further infuriate those we invade to the point that they decide to come here again, you had better hope that Newt Romney hasn’t flip flopped or taken lobby money again in exchange for limiting your access to weapons.

  • Jeff January 9, 2012, 1:40 pm

I know I am preaching to the choir in stating that I believe the 1st and 2nd Amendments are the most critical to our freedom. Both are being shredded and trampled on, as is the rest of this country’s Constitutional Law. I can weather anything fairly well except for the loss of my God given right to protect my family and myself from threats of violence and tyranny. In the past the preservation of the 2nd Amendment has been the key issue in my decision when voting for a candidate. Often, I have felt as if my only choice was to vote for the person who would do the least damage. Watching the poll numbers of so many of the Republican candidates rise and fall, it appears as if everyone wants a true conservative and not just someone who will do the least amount of damage to our freedoms, values, heritage and 2nd Amendment rights. However, I must take issue with one statement in the article above that says to “vote for Ron Paul or don’t vote at all.” So if Paul isn’t nominated as the Republican candidate for the presidential race, we are told to not vote and let Obama win? That is the most irresponsible statement I have read and the one that has scared me to my very being. We must defeat this pompous President who rules with delusions of divinity or at the least sees himself as the supreme leader above and unaccountable to the Constitution. In the span of 3 years he has nullified the Constitution and has fast paced this country on the road to ecumenic ruin. If Obama wins another 4 years, the country as we know it will be gone and so will our 2nd Amendment. Support the Republican candidate that you believe is the best candidate to receive the Republican nomination, but in the end, we must unite in force behind whoever is chosen to run against Obama.

  • Streaker January 9, 2012, 1:24 pm

“Vote Ron Paul or Don’t Vote At All”? What kind of Communist garbage are you promoting on this site? True, Dr. Paul is a nice man, and my friends in the Houston area testify that he is/was a fine doctor. He has championed causes for years and been faithful in sticking to his guns. But he may not be the eventual nominee, and you have to be prepared for that.

Promoting “…or don’t vote at all” is foolishly giving the election to Barry Soetoro, and that thought is too bleak to even consider. Conservatives need to work hard during the primaries for your guy, whomever he may be. And when the votes are counted and the G.O.P. has its nominee, we need to unite behind that candidate and see him elected, to rid Washington of the scourge of Obummer.

Don’t advocate the apathy and disunity that killed us in 2008. Adopting a “my way or the highway” attitude is immature, simplistic and downright irresponsible, like a child saying “I’m going to take my toys and go home”.

Grow up and get busy for the country. Just because your guy doesn’t win the nomination doesn’t mean we can’t beat the bad guy. Unity and Patriotism, not disunity and apathy!

  • JohnJ January 9, 2012, 1:00 pm

Ron Paul wants to cut military spending 15%, to 2006 levels. He is very much FOR a STRONG national defense. Don’t believe the lies big business candidates and the media have been telling you about Ron Paul’s “extremism”.

You and I, the poor and middle-class of this country, are paying for these foreign wars. And who benefits? The rich bankers and big business like Raytheon, Lockeed-Martin, and GE. They are taking our money and laughing all the way to the bank!

As for nuclear weapons, you did realize that China, North Korea, India, Pakistan, and yes, even Russia have nuclear weapons! Israel also has nuclear weapons and could certainly stand up to Iran (like we did the Soviets, without firing a single missile at each other). Should we invade all those countries?

The better approach is to work with those countries peaceably to improve relations and improve their way of life. The nuclear genie has been out of the bottle for 75 years, it’s ignorant to think we’ll put it back in. So the best approach is to work with these countries to ensure that they are respected, that the weapons are safe and don’t fall into the wrong hands, and that they never feel the need to use them. It worked for us and the Soviets. We never invaded each other, we never fired a missle, and despite our rhetoric with the Soviets, worked PEACEFULLY together to ensure that no accident would happen.

  • Newt2012 January 9, 2012, 12:59 pm

More war in more countries just means more terrorists trying to hurt America.

  • George January 9, 2012, 12:57 pm

This is an example of the exact problem I have with Ron Paul fanatics! GunsAmerica New Letter to their buyers are out of touch with reality. “Don’t lose your nerve America! Vote Ron Paul or don’t vote at all! ” (How in the HELL does this make sense? So this guy says give it to OBOMA if you won’t give it to Paul?? WTF is this idiot thinking???
Paul may be the best, but the Paul fanatics will cost him the voters consideration just due to their aggressive manner of diplomacy. You make no friends by starting the conversation by calling a person an Idiot or questioning their education of their ability to come to a reasonable decision based on merit. If Paul wins I will vote Paul, but I will vote for my own candidate in the primary, just as is should be. Our biggest nightmare is Pual killing the Nation, again as he did last election. If we can blame any one person for ObomaNation, that one egotistic Maniac is Ron Paul!

  • jay r January 9, 2012, 12:55 pm

To all the people who have this insane notion that we have to kill all the Muslims before they kill us:

he CIA and The Pentagon, ie. the people who actually know about foreign affairs, agree with Ron Paul. The only reason terrorism is an issue, is due to Americas past and current stances on foreign affairs. That aside. Ron Paul wants a strong national defense, Not for Israel, not for Iraq, not for South Korea, but for AMERICA. OUR country, the one we need to be concerned with. Have you read that article about how while the American people are suffering economically, and cutting back everywhere, the money we are giving Israel allows them to teach their soldiers how to MAKE SUSHI. No, thats not a colorful euphamism for some naval maneuver, I’m talking rice and seaweed and raw fish.

As far as blaming America; Are you not a responsible adult? When you do something wrong you have to pay the consequences. If you break the law you go to jail, if you have unprotected sex you have to raise an unplanned child, and if you topple foreign governments and instigate wars, you are in turn attacked, in a similarly underhanded way. Its as true for governments as it is for you and I. Its unrealistic and unproductive to make believe you don’t understand cause and effect.

  • Randall Perry January 9, 2012, 12:52 pm

I have not heard a _single_ intelligent argument against Dr Ron Paul.
EVERY SINGLE comment is laced with pure hyperbole, lies or assumptions.

What an ignorant bunch of chicken-hawk Neo-Cons in here!
Even more laughable is that all you have to do is turn off the IDIOT box and do your own research. Seriously, you aren’t patriotic Americans for your opinions, but are showing your colors as nationalist, collectivist sheep..just like Nazi apologists.

So let’s straighten up some of the idiotic statements:
isolationist- Are you serious? Dr Ron Paul has _never_ been an ‘isolationalist’. He is a non-interventionalist. It might be a whole-lotta letters for the illiterate that get their information from the magic television. But the term means to “MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS”. It still allows free trade among countries (UNLIKE isolationalists), and only attacks if there is a _real_ threat.

“Ron pauls military service, was as a OB\GYN, not valid at all” Really? Do you TRY to be this ignorant? He was a flight surgeon and spent 6 years in the Air Force during Vietnam. When in PRIVATE PRACTICE, he was an OB/GYN that delivered over 4,000 babies.

“If you are going strictly by Second Amendment, then Rick Perry has to be at the top of the list. He not only supports the right to bear arms, he has a Concealed Carry Permit.” The 2nd amendment is for sporting or ‘personal protection’. The 2nd Amendment is so that a well-armed militia with 50BMGs (and more) could rise up against a tyrranical government (watch the documentary ‘Innocents Betrayed’ to understand what disarmament does).

“A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama.(PERIOD)”
What an idiotic statement based on PERSONAL ignorant opinion.
The _only_ candidate to beat Obama in 1-on-1 polls was Dr Ron Paul. The ONLY one.
    Mitt Romney=GWB=McCain=Cain=Newt=Obama
    Why?
    Because EVERY ONE OF THEM:
    -Supported TARP and bank bailouts
    -Supported the ‘Patriot Act’
    -Support undeclared, endless Wars
-Will not dismantle the (arguably) illegal Federal Reserve
-believes in socialized medicine (where through govt control or private control)

I would also like to point out that anyone who mentions “I won’t vote for XXX because he cain’t beat YYYY” clearly has no MORAL COMPASS or principles.
If you vote for the lesser of 2 evils, then YOU are still voting for evil.
If you like to side with the larger semblage of collectivists (instead of acting on personal convictions or beliefs), then you are devoid of character or intelligence. You are a mindless sheep and against everything America used to stand for.

    It isn’t too late.
Educate yourselves on the _real_ issues and shut OFF the idiot box:

I like how none of them have rebuttals including actual facts and sources. “Anybody but Obama” sounds like the same mantra that got Obama into office except it was “Mc Cain is 4 more years of Bush”. Do some actual research before you people just believe whatever the propaganda telescreen tells you.

Wow I can`t imagine how many subscribers Guns America just lost by letting this nut Paul Helinski write this crap in their magazine. Trust me this Helinski idiot is trying to split the vote to reelect Obama by having you vote for Ron Paul. China Russia North Korea Iran Cuba are all waiting for a Ron Paul vote for President. Ask them when Ron Paul is elected President and they promptly invade and take over or totally destroy the USA if because you voted for Ron Paul would they honor your second amendment right. LOL

  • Bill January 9, 2012, 12:39 pm

You guys better start opening your eyes. Backing fringe candidates like RP is the most assured way there is to guarantee obama’s re-election. Ron Paul is a great guy, and I love his ideas, but he is NOT electable. Give him enough support, tho, and a dollar to a doughnut he’ll up and run as a 3rd party candidate. And who will he siphon votes away from? Not obama, that is for sure. Ross Perot all over again.

Even if we have qualms about the guy, whoever he winds up being, we HAVE to support, and vote for, the Republican candidate. If you think obama was rancid his first term, wait and see what he’ll try to pull in a 2nd term. Example? Kiss the Supreme Court goodbye as a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and everything else anti-Liberal. We HAVE to beat the guy, we have to………. and RP ain’t gonna get it done.

  • Shane Connor January 9, 2012, 12:29 pm

All you who say we need to hold our noses again and vote for the GOP, lessor or two evils, candidate that has best chance of beating Obama, need to grasp that in the end there’s no difference where we will all end up with either a Romney or an Obama, as neither will ever jam on the breaks or steer us away from the cliffs edge we are heading over. It’ll make little difference, when mangled at the bottom of the gorge, if we went over the cliff at 100mph with an Obama or 40mph with a Romney/Gingrich/Santorum.

Most peoples throughout history eventually ended up with the kind of govt they justly deserve, and as long as we as a people continue to settle for the unprincipled ‘lessor of two evils’ argument we are still all headed over the cliffs edge.

  • BenjaminAshkenazy January 9, 2012, 12:27 pm

Some people just don’t want to see the truth for what it is. The CIA and virtually every other intelligence agency has confirmed – time and time again – 9/11 is just one example of blow back; an undesired result of American foreign policy. America’s government has been installing dictatorships through it’s proxy movements in the middle east since the 1950s. Wanna know why you had cheap gas America? Because your government has been installing dictatorships friendly to American corporations, so they could sell us cheap oil. And then when there’s an overthrow, you wonder why they don’t like us.

It’s amazing that Americans – on this issue – still trust the government that lied to them about Vietnam, that lied to them about Iraq and that continues to take liberty away from the American people whenever it can. NDAA anyone? Do any of you even know what that is? The president can now indefinitely imprison people without a trial. But you trust the government when they tell you that Iran wants nuclear weapons. Just like you trusted Colin Powell when he said that “we know exactly where the nukes are in Iraq”…”They can nuke us in 45 minutes upon command”…It’s all scam. They want another war b/c it’s profitable to them. Read Gen. Smedley Butler’s “War is a Racket”, read Michael Scheur’s “Imperial Hubris”…Wars are large created so that military contractors and multinational corporations can get large government contracts and open season to the host nation’s natural resources.

You folks have 2 choices. You can either elect Ron Paul as the next president and we can reverse the 90 or so years of bad economics and the 50 years of bad foreign policy. OR you can elect Obama/Romney and watch your country get degraded into the second world because that will happen. Just don’t go crying on YouTube when your relative gets sent to prison for stockpiling ammo b/c now people who do that are profiled as “terrorists”.

(admin, I posted this wrong section below, approve this one)

  • Shane Connor January 9, 2012, 12:08 pm

Ron Paul gets more donations from active duty military than all the other GOP candidates combined! They know, painfully better than most, that we are spreading ourselves too thin (and going broke) policing the world (while nor protecting our own borders) and that we need to go back to Constitution of only going to war when declared by Congress. We have not had a major decisive lasting victory since we last did so, in WWII.

I have no illusions he’ll ever get elected, but I support him now and did last time, because I’ve seen, via his campaigns, that the good doctor is inoculating thousands of new patriots for life against socialism and for Constitutional liberty. A lot of the tea party base came from his ranks last time, and nobody has exposed the Federal Reserve more than he has. And, nobody would more embrace 2A, without a doubt!

When we do someday take this country back, we will have thousands more standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us then because of his campaigns having awakened more of the people to Constitutional liberty. That’s why I support him, cause even if/when he loses the election battle, we all will be in better shape to win the war later. That’s also why he is running, he knows he does not have to win to have succeeded in bringing victory closer later.

NRA always said vote freedom first, we need change in our government, what we have been doing so far has failed us all. Our Government is getting out of control, nothing is happening to Eric Holder who armed criminal gangs and was liable to the death of a Border agent. I say fix the mess in our country and restore are rights first then we can worry about the rest of the world second. Law abiding gun owners are being prosecuted and jailed every day because of Unconstitutional gun laws that are in reality pro-criminal laws.

What a load of crap I’m seeing from all the self-proclaimed conservatives! “U.S.A the World Police!” That is a total disgrace and 180 degree difference from the thinking of our Founding Fathers! The thought of starting wars all over the world while leaving our own borders practically unattended is ludicrous and that’s been the plan we’ve had for decades. It was a problem when Japan did it. It was a problem when Germany did it. It was a problem when Russia did it. It was a problem when Iraq did it. Does anyone see a pattern here? What makes it right for us to do it, because we’re the self-proclaimed World Police? It’s past time for the people in this country to wake up and smell the coffee! We aren’t the mass producers of anything anymore, unless you consider debt a product. Nearly every cent we spend on all these illegal wars is borrowed, at interest. Our own infrastructure is antiquated and crumbling, while we focus our attention on this and that. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! Ron Paul is the only candidate the Left or the Right is worried about winning, because he’s only candidate that isn’t bought and paid for already! He’s the only candidate that wants to change anything!

  • Nathan Eppt January 9, 2012, 11:36 am

there are a number of pretty good 2nd amendment candidates out there in the Republican primary season….

Ron Paul blames America for 9/11….enough said.

so GFU Ron and the whores you rode in on.

    • AG January 9, 2012, 2:23 pm

Ron Paul doesn’t blame America for 9/11 and never has.

Ron Paul was as horrified by the events of 9/11 as all of us were, and was for going after bin Laden.

But to say that 9/11 was caused because “they don’t like our freedom” or “our way of life” is ignorant and will lead to more reckless foreign policy and needless death. And that is what Ron Paul has been trying to say. The 9/11 Commission report effectively says the same thing, if you’d read it.

The U.S. funded the Afgan mujahideen against the Soviets in a misguided “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” policy, but even earlier than that (the 1950’s) the CIA was directly involved in Iran supporting a coup d’etat. Start your research by looking up “Operation Ajax”. I am pro-American and love this country, and if another country was supporting an armed take over of our government, I’d take up arms. Do you not think people of other countries feel that way about their country too?

The best way to spread our great American way of life is not at the barrel of a gun but by a handshake and a beer.

  • John January 9, 2012, 11:36 am

I agree with some of what Ron Paul says about domestic issues, not everything, but his foreign policy stuff is too extreme and I think would hurt American interests greatly, perhaps more so than the loser currently occupying the White House has accomplished so far, and that is saying a lot. I first looked at Ron Paul a few years ago, and he is not improving with age. I will give him kudos for sticking to his principles and not flip-flopping, but his isolationist views are wrong in my opinion. I don’t hate the man, as so many seem to either worship or loathe him. I am glad that he doesn’t stand a chance. If he were the nominee, BHM would be guaranteed a second term. The rest of the candidates are not great, either, but I won’t choose who I vote for on just one issue as that seems too short sighted. I think my choice this year will be for the lesser of the evils, again. I probably will support Santorum, as he seems the least likely to hurt us in the short term. In the long term, more conservatives need to step up and run, and we need to support them.

  • Nicholas ritter January 9, 2012, 11:29 am

Ron Paul is he only candidate who hasn’t been picked for us. He’s the only one who Ian in someone’s pocket and he’s the only one that’s a champion of the people’s rights. As a president it is his responsibility to oversee Congress and veto stuff not in the interest of the free people’s of the USA. We will not be able to fund any of these wars or be the dominant anything in the world once the dollar becomes totally worthless. China won’t have o lift a finger to crush us. All they will hav to do is boycott our goods and we will be screwed. Military might stands of economic power. Ron Paul is the only person with an actual plan to end our deficits and our military budget is huge so cutting some of the unnesscesary spending to help put America back to work is a good idea.

  • Gheed January 9, 2012, 11:15 am

“In this campaign, Paul is getting more donations from people who work for the military than either President Obama or any of the other Republican presidential candidates. That analysis comes from Paul’s campaign and was confirmed recently by Politifact, the fact-checking project of the St. Petersburg Times.” (Source: USA Today)

“Michael Scheuer, the CIA’s former agent charged with tracking Osama bin Laden, endorsed Ron Paul in a Sunday column he published on his website.” (Source: Des Moines Register)

So a majority of veterans, troops and the former CIA chief of intelligence on Osama Bin Laden not only approve of his foreign policy, but they also endorse it. YEAH THAT GUY’S A KOOK…

I’m sorry but I’m going to listen to the people who spend their life fighting our wars over any politician who’s never sacrificed anything for our country. Our troops know what they’re talking about! Listen to them. If you really want to support the troops, vote for Ron Paul.

  • Ryan Northwest January 9, 2012, 11:00 am

I am surprised with the issues people have with Dr. Paul…his foreign policy…really? I have read a lot of people regurgitating the nonsense that they are spoon fed by the talking heads on T.V. that DO NOT WANT a Constitution based Candidate. Some call his ideas “Pacifism” and talk about how we need to have the world submit to our military might…really? Lets make the world our friends by putting them, by force or threat of force, under our thumbs…no the will not hate us for that. He doesn’t call for “Pacifism” he calls for a limitation of “military aggression”…let the world choose their own political systems and leaders – let get the U.S. of Nation Building. Dr. Paul is THE Pro Gun, Pro Life, Pro Liberty candidate…and no matter what the talking heads tell you, he is the ONE candidate that is the REAL option to Obama. Ron Paul 2012 – Take it back at the Voters Box!

  • José January 9, 2012, 10:57 am

Poor choice, endorsement of a candidate in this forum. It is even poorer to suggest to vote for him or “don’t vote at all”. Your right to vote should never be given away by not participating!

  • JVG January 9, 2012, 10:53 am

There isn’t a single candidate out there that meets all my expectations. Everyone of them is flawed in one way or another. Our government is completely disfunctional thanks to the party system and career politicians and the lobbiests they owe their souls to. Ultimately we can put the blame on ourselves for re electing the same crooks time and time again. If we want the government to work for us like it should, we need some serious reform. The primary election system is a perfect example. By the time most of us get a chance to vote the decisions have already been made. They are already talking about the republican nominee being selected and only two states will have voted by the end of tomorrow. We need a national primary so everyone who votes gets a say in who runs in the general election. Then we need term limits, an absolute ban on lobbiests, and elimination of the party system.
None of this will happen until we get rid of the worthless bunch that populates DC, and the only way to do that is to vote out every single incumbent in the next election. If they don’t start getting things straightened out in their first term then we vote them out and keep doing that until we get people in office that actually put the country first. That’s the way I will vote come next Nov.

As a pro- second amendment, pro- constitution individual and a strong supporter for Ron Paul, I find it truly disturbing that so many comments here, of all places, are filled with such ignorance regarding Dr. Paul’s views and understanding of true freedom, the Constitution and how we can return to being a prosperous nation once again. Isolationist and non-interventionalist are two very different things. Like our founders, he believes in having a very strong military, while not meddling in other nation’s affairs or being the policemen of the world. Other nations, be they Israel, or yes, even Iran, have a right to prepare to defend themselves, provided they don’t infringe on OUR rights or pose an immediate threat to us as a nation. He is pro- freedom and pro- personal responsibility, and yet the media twists and contorts his intent, taking what he says completely out of context. Do your own research, form your own opinions. I can promise you this, however, that voting for party over principle is a vote in vain. A vote for any one of the various empty suits that the Republican party has to offer may as well be a vote for Obama. When it comes down to the real issues that matter (like sound money, less government intervention on our lives, etc.), it’ll be just more of the same, just with a (R) next to the name.

  • Scott January 9, 2012, 10:48 am

Look, the problem with Ron Paul is he just goes to extremes. I have very Libertarian leanings, but his positions scare me off. Sure, lets break open the vault doors and take an audit of the US gold…… I’m right there with you…… then he follows it up with “and then sell it all on the open market”….. OR ….. “we should not be the world’s peace keeper and should not have all these bases around the world”…… again, right there with you until he continues to speak….. “Shut down every single base outside the US”……. he just goes to extremes. We should have bases around the world that serve the interest of the “US”. The other bases should either be closed or better yet, let the other countries pay for the cost and we will stay. That way everyone has to have a defense budget, not just the US. Now could he get everything he wants if he was elected, probable not even close, so how much damage could really do. But I did vote for Perot and it was a “wasted” vote and my message to the Bush clan only got Billy boy in office. Here is another point…. if he is such a Libertarian, with his strong ideas for his beliefs, why is he running on a Republican ticket? If he loses, and there is a very good chance he will, is he going to run as a Libertarian on the final ticket? So he gets to run against the Republicans the entire time and try his best to damage that run off, and then walk in and get the Libertarian slot w/o any opposition to drag him through the ringer a little bit… that is not right. Maybe the second runner up on the Republican ticket should move over to Libertarian ticket and run then……. So basing your vote strictly on one issue, IMHO is not a smart way to go.

    • AG January 9, 2012, 2:05 pm

I voted for Ross Perot as well. I did not feel it was a wasted vote. It showed to the two parties that they need to listen to us real Americans. Regardless what you think of Clinton, he and the Republican congress did get as close as we’ve come in the last 40 years to a balanced budget. And he was one of the first to bring national attention to the loss of manufacturing jobs due to globalist foreign policy advocated by big business (and a policy Ron Paul wants to end).

As for why he is running on a Republican ticket, its just reality. The two big parties have rigged the system in their favor, and media and the big business go along. It’s harder for third parties to get on the ballot and get media coverage. Remember that Ross Perot was originally going to be excluded from the debates.

As for Ron Paul’s extremes, I think much of that is big business candidates and the media trying to scare you. If you look at his budget, it reduces military spending by just 15%. I agree that we need a strong defense, but the way to influence and gain friends often works better with trade and talk than by gun.

Let me ask a thought question. Would you be more friendly with China if they built a military base in Mexico, even if Mexico asked them in? Would you be more or less likely to be in favor of China if they invaded Venezuela, on the pretense that they had weapons of mass destruction? I am proud to be an American and I support our troops. I just understand that our current foreign policy is destructive to OUR way of life, and that how we are perceived by others is a valid question.

  • squinty January 9, 2012, 10:47 am

I’d love to vote for Ron Paul, he’s the only candidate who is unequivocally anti-war (Obama was anti war until he got elected!) and pro-civil liberties (again, Obama was the champion of civil liberties and transparent government during the 2008 campaign, but in office – very different.) and he has better second amendment bona fides than any other candidate.

But I can’t support him because of some of his other positions – for instance, I believe that a woman has the right to terminate a pregnancy, and I’m troubled by Paul’s connection to Stormfront and other white supremacist organizations. All through the nineties, gun activists in general and the NRA in particular were slandered by charges of racism. Charges the NRA has worked hard to disprove. Maybe they don’t want to be seen as backing a candidate with ties to racist organizations..

  • Matt Dillon January 9, 2012, 10:43 am

The GOP candidates are all stooges. The elections if far bigger than just
gun rights. If that’s all that you are basing your vote on, then don’t whine
and cry when there are no jobs, no future and no stability in this nation.
But hey, at least you’ll have your guns…what a great way to live.

  • Pro Gunner January 9, 2012, 10:30 am

Yeah, we don’t want to cut and run from the Middle East like Reagan did! Look how unpopular Reagan is now after the Muslim invasions and thousands of terrorist attacks that resulted from us cutting-and-running from Lebanon!

    From Reagan’s auto-biography:

Perhaps we didn’t appreciate fully enough the depth of the hatred and the complexity of the problems that made the Middle East such a jungle. Perhaps the idea of a suicide car bomber committing mass murder to gain instant entry to Paradise was so foreign to our own values and consciousness that it did not create in us the concern for the marines’ safety that it should have.

In the weeks immediately after the bombing, I believed the last thing that we should do was turn tail and leave. Yet the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics forced us to rethink our policy there. If there would be some rethinking of policy before our men die, we would be a lot better off. If that policy had changed towards more of a neutral position and neutrality, those 241 marines would be alive today.

  • Byrthwold January 9, 2012, 10:28 am

Shockingly bad advice! IMHO Ron Paul is not electable so a vote for him throws your vote away.
2nd Amendment supporters need to vote for someone who can defeat Obama. Either Romney or Santorum will not fight to protect our gun rights but they will not try to take them away.
Our strategy should be to neutralize the Executive branch and protect the Supreme Court conservative majority.
The threat to our 2nd Amendment rights will come from the Supreme Court. We MUST defeat Obama before he appoints another gun grabber to the bench. If Obama wins another term, our right to bear arms will be gone before the end of his second term.

A supreme court that takes away my rights to the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments as the neocon wing often errors to the side of is different, but not really better than the liberal side that would completely eliminate the 2nd in a hearbeat. I want to keep all my rights all the time, neocon judges don’t really help with that it’s just different rights they want to trample for different reasons.

  • Robin 'Roblimo' Miller January 9, 2012, 10:27 am

I know I’m a tiny minority in this crowd, but I’m a working-class American and an Army veteran, so there is no way I can vote for any GOP/TP candidate. They all want to cut the capital gains and dynasty taxes down even more than they’ve been cut already, even though the richies who get their money from investments and Lucky Sperm Club membership already pay lower tax rates than we do on money earned by Real Work.

Obama has *not* been active on gun control, and has disappointed many gun control activists who think he should be. But his advisers — and most Democratic Congresscritters — know that any gun control measure other than those meant to keep guns away from criminals and obvious loonies will make them more likely to lose elections. Don’t be a victim of the richies’ stooges and their propaganda. There are many issues you can disagree with Obama about other than gun control.

One other thing: if you are an Al Qaeda supporter or otherwise want to see America torn down, keep calling our president by silly names. If you are an American, you should — as they say in the Army — “salute the shirt, not the man.” Please address your country’s Commander in Chief with respect. He may not be the President you want, but he’s still the best one we have right now, and he’s one bleep of a lot better than Putin or the oligarchs who run Red China.

The reason we have the 2nd Amendment is so that we have well-regulated militias, not ignorant, drunken thugs with guns. I consider myself a well-regulated, one-man militia. My few firearms are clean and work correctly, and I stay in practice by making regular trips to the range. This is my version of gun control, and I hope it is yours, too. 🙂

    • squinty January 9, 2012, 10:56 am

He is not my country’s commander in chief. He is the commander in chief of my country’s military. I am a free citizen of the united states, and a civilian, therefore I have no commander in chief and I can, as a citizen of a free country, say what I think about any president.

I agree that some of the things people say to slander the current president are pretty damn ridiculous – birtherism and all that – but exercising my first amendment right to criticize an elected official hardly makes me an Al Quaeda supporter, and one of the biggest reasons Obama (or any American president) is better than Putin or Chinese oligarchs is the fact that we can openly disagree with, mock, or criticize him.

  • Dan H. January 9, 2012, 10:23 am

First I appreciate GunsAmerica taking a stand, even knowing that some will disagree.

Second, I agree Ron Paul is the best candidate available. He definitely isn’t the perfect candidate, just the best one in the current field.

After sorting through the lies and distortions the only thing I have a significant question about is how far he will cut the military. I’m ex-Army and I believe there are times when our country needs to go to war. Ultimately our military must be commensurate with our economy or it won’t be sustainable. In other words, some cuts are unavoidable if we don’t want the whole thing to come crashing down. President Obama is ruining our economy and you can’t have a strong defense for long with a weak economy!

    • AG January 9, 2012, 1:49 pm

Ron Paul won’t slash the American defense budget, just focus on defending America, not nation-building abroad.

You can see his detailed budget at http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/ron-paul-plan-to-restore-america/

Specifically, he will reduce the DoD budget by 15% by ending the wars, closing some foreign bases, and focusing on defending America.

This will reduce the DoD budget to 2006 levels. Hardly “radical” or “isolationist”. Rather, Dr. Paul wants us to return to our Constitutional roots. We all know America is great as are our ideals. The best was to spread those ideas is not by point of sword, but through trade and talk.

As it stands, the wars are being paid for by the poor and middle class of America, while the rich benefit.

  • JMC January 9, 2012, 10:18 am

    Ron Paul 2012.

    Pro America
    Pro Americans

  • scott wilkey January 9, 2012, 10:15 am

No way I am voting for Ron Paul. You can not support a ANY candidate on one issue. There are much better choices in the GOP in this election.

  • 13 January 9, 2012, 10:09 am

Truly sad how too many years of indoctrination has blinded so many of you. Do you believe in living by the Constitution? Did you take an oath to uphold it? Only one candidate will stand by the Constitution. Pull your heads out people. You have been lied to for far too long. Ron Paul 2012!

  • Matthew Maxey January 9, 2012, 10:08 am

You have not done yourself any favors with this article. I like Ron Paul on the 2nd Amendment, unfortunately I don’t like him on much else. The tone of your article leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I am sick of Ron Paul supporters trying to shove him down my throat. Sing his praises all you want but don’t tell me who to vote for. I have been on this earth long enough and have a sufficiently high IQ to make an informed and rational decision without your “help” deciding who to vote for. The two Ricks would be just as solid on the 2nd as Dr. Paul with fewer negatives. It’s time for the Paulbots to accept that Ron Paul will never be POTUS and find an electable alternative to rally around. At that point, you may have people actually start to listen. Until then, you need to learn that people can be very well informed and still find your candidate unacceptable.

    • Aaron January 9, 2012, 12:51 pm

“The two Ricks would be just as solid on the 2nd as Dr. Paul with fewer negatives.” WRONG!! What was that you were talking about being well informed? This is from the NAGR (National Association for Gun Rights) about a presidential survey sent to all the Republican candidates. Ron Paul is the only remaining Repub Presidential candidate to return his and earn 100% (Bachmann and Cain also received 100%). The others (including your two Ricks) refused to return them and actually called NAGR and requested they quit telling people to call their offices and hounding them about this). Below is a tale of your 2 Ricks:

      Rick Santorum:

If you’ve watched any of the Presidential debates, you’ve noticed that Rick Santorum claims time and again to be a “fighter” who has “led on conservative issues.”

Rick Santorum’s record on the Second Amendment, however, tells a different story.

In the 90s, he voted to support the Lautenberg Gun Ban, which stripped law-abiding gun owners of their Second Amendment rights for life, simply because they spanked their children or did nothing more than grab a spouses wrist.

He voted for a bill in 1999 disguised as an attempt to increase penalties on drug traffickers with guns… but it also included a provision to require federal background checks at gun shows.

In 2000, Santorum voted to force pawn shops to require a background check on anyone coming into the store to sell a firearm.

And then he voted with gun-controlling Democrats Dianne Fienstein and Frank Lautenberg to mandate locks on handguns in 2005.

But worst of all, Rick Santorum has a storied history of bailing out anti-gun Republicans facing reelection.

Rick Santorum came to anti-gun Arlen Specter’s defense in 2004 when he was down in the polls against pro-gun Republican Pat Toomey. Specter won and continued to push for gun control during his years in the Senate.

He also supported and openly campaigned for anti-gun New Jersey governor, Christine Todd Whitman.

It certainly appears that Rick Santorum has no regrets about his past anti-gun record. Worse, it appears he’d be happy to continue along this path as President.

      Rick Perry:

Texas Governor Rick Perry has received an earful from NAGR members over the past several months for refusing to return his Candidate Survey.

His strategy seems to be to tell gun owners “trust me” while keeping completely silent on what he would do about our gun rights if elected President.

Over the years, gun owners have learned that this is a failed strategy.

George H.W. Bush ran as a pro-gun candidate for President in 1988, but when elected, things changed.

First, he signed an Executive Order banning the importation of so-called “assault weapons.”

Not only that, but it was under President Bush that “Operation Triggerlock,” which dramatically increased funding and power for the BATFE, was implemented.

Of course, as Governor of Texas, Rick Perry did make some minor improvements in state law for gun owners.

It is, however, one thing to act pro-gun as Governor of a state like Texas and quite another to be a pro-gun President of the United States.

I love it. Perry just says “Trust me!” Sure. I’ll trust a politician. Ron Paul 2012.

      • Matthew Maxey January 9, 2012, 2:54 pm

I see you received your Paulbot talking points. Good for you. I find my information from a variety of sources and make my choice from a critical analysis of what I have learned. I don’t try to shove my preferred candidate down anyone’s throat. I may say why I like them but I allow that others have differing priorities and accept that they make their choice based on that. This is my biggest complaint about some Ron Paul supporters. They blatantly distort the position of other candidates in order prop up Paul. They also attack others that don’t drink the Kool Aid. You and others like you do more harm than good for your candidate by alienating undecideds with your “you’re stupid if you don’t vote for Dr. Paul” attitude. I’ll be glad when this election is over because Ron Paul will be too old in four years to warrant any consideration by anyone other than the most ardent die-hards.

        • Tim January 9, 2012, 5:08 pm

What was distorted or propped? Santorum’s record is bad. Romney’s record is bad. He even gave credit to two other (former) candidates for also getting 100%. Perry wasn’t even trashed, it’s just that his stance is essentially missing. Paul’s is not only positive on the second amendment, it has continually been positive for decades in word and vote. These are really issues of fact and I don’t see how you could perceive them as being shoved down your throat.

Also, what did the author do wrong? He suggested a candidate who was strongest on the issue that is his field of expertise.

          • Matthew Maxey January 9, 2012, 8:14 pm

They are not issues of fact, they are a smear by Paul supporters. Follow the link to see Santorum’s record on the 2A.

            http://www.issues2000.org/2012/Rick_Santorum_Gun_Control.htm

I have no doubt that Romney will be no friend to gun owners. It is a shame that so many Republicans will vote for him due to their hatred for Obama and belief that Romney is the only one that can beat him. I’m starting to think we’ll be better off with Obama simply because if the Republicans can control the House and Senate, Obama will be dead in the water. With Romney, bad things can happen because he has the (R) next to his name. The power players behind the scenes in the Republican party need to be bitch slapped for foisting these RINOs on us. I would rather see Paul than Romney, but I would rather see Santorum, Gingrich, or Perry than Paul. I am very much in the anybody but Romney camp.

The author did not suggest who to support. He stated “Vote Ron Paul or don’t vote at all!” This is also my field of expertise. I don’t need anyone to tell me who to vote for. I am more than capable of making my own informed decision. As a Pennsylvanian, it won’t matter for me anyway. The primary will most likely be too late for me to have any say.

          • Tim January 10, 2012, 12:32 am

Matthew, your link is conspicuously missing almost all the votes referred to. Who is doctoring the facts?

        • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 9:43 pm

Nobody is attacking you. The man simply replied to your comment and stated the facts as to why Ron Paul is a good choice. If you don’t like freedom of speech then why do you come to blogs such as this one? Nobody is trying to force Paul down your throat, but if you have some good reasons as to why you support other candidates then I’d like to hear them myself. If you intelligently defend yourself or make a good case in support of another candidate with reason and facts, who’s to say you wouldn’t persuade a Paul supporter like myself?

  • Freedom Lover January 9, 2012, 10:06 am

I see the chickenhawks are out in full force. The people that despise our bloated government and the abuses we suffer under, yet somehow are deluded enough to believe in all the boogeymen in foreign countries our government tells us are out to get us because we let our women vote. Are you people really so naive? Did you not heed Eisenhower’s parting warning?

Are you not familiar with the history of the middle east? Of our meddling in the affairs of the region at the behest of the British for the last 60 years? Of our overthrowing democratically elected regimes and installing ruthless dictators that oppressed the people? Do you really think they’ve forgotten or forgiven this?

Do you wonder why Ron Paul gets 10X the donations from our active duty military personnel than all other republicans combined? So now you chickenhawks know better than the military you worship?

Are you really so busy quaking in your own boots that you think if we got rid of our 900 military bases in 130 countries that suddenly there would be an Islamic army in landing craft on our shores? Even if such a ridiculous notion came to fruition, do you really think our military or even our heavily armed civilian population couldn’t annihilate them?

What do you think will happen to our foreign incursions when our economy collapses from the weight of our debt? We can wind them down in a carefully calculated way, or we can leave people stranded unsupported overseas.

Pull your heads out of government fantasy land. The biggest threat to both your and our republic’s well-being is the establishment – and their continued destruction of both our currency and our rights. There is only one pro-Liberty candidate running, and that is Ron Paul.

Ron Paul would absolutely destroy Obama in the debates. Obama was elected to end the wars and the “patriot” act and other abuses of our rights. He made no such attempt. Ron can destroy him on civil liberties, the wars, the economy, the debt, crony-capitalism, and virtually every other subject.

With 70% of Americans supporting an end to the wars, any of the war-hawk republicans will hand another victory to Obama, who will again feign support for ending the wars. In the mean time, you’ll have eliminated the last chance to save this republic with a pro-freedom candidate, and we will have sealed our fate between the crony capitalism of wall street and the military industrial complex.

You’ll get what you deserve, but my children won’t.

    • Aaron January 9, 2012, 12:34 pm

Great points, Freedom Lover. I’m not scared of some 3rd world country on the other side of the world who might or might not have nukes someday and who didn’t say they’d wipe Israel off the map. How do these lies about wiping Israel off the map get made into facts? I guess if people on TV repeat them enough, they become fact. What has happened to our country?

Guns America. I fully support you and thank you for taking a stand. If people would rely on unbiased information, they’d have a much different idea about Dr. Paul. I used to be one of those people who blindly accepted everything the right-wing media fed me. I still listen to it, but have learned that they sometimes have an agenda. Read more, people.

    • Jason Edwards January 9, 2012, 1:40 pm

      Freedomlover,
Very well said. It is the Establishment that we have to fear. Huge corporations using the two parties as a distraction, knowing full well that it doesn’t matter if a republican or a democrat wins the office, because the corporations own them both!

Turn off the TV because all you’re getting there is more distraction from what is really at stake.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that has a chance to give America back to the people.

    • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 5:24 pm

Well said, hopefully the majority are waking up. It’s time to stop the cycle of corruption that the republocrat demican puppets perpetuate. Ron Paul!

  • Rod Roberts January 9, 2012, 10:03 am

If you really want to back Ron Paul, send him a donation; $10 or $20 is enough, more if you can afford it. Help him out. I have. Yes, some of his other ideas are not to my line of thinking, but the President does not get 100% of his ideas passed. If they did, we’d already be stripped of our guns. Another 4 years of Obama and his dept. of injustice crooks will not only bring registration but confiscation. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that is pro-gun, none of the others will commit and some have already shown their true colors by their records: Romney, Santorum, Gingrich.

  • LEL MN January 9, 2012, 9:43 am

If Ron Paul is the republican nominee, I’ll vote for Ron Paul. If Ron Paul is not the republican nominee, I’ll vote for the republican nominee.

  • Chad January 9, 2012, 9:43 am

Great article, Thanks for the truth. NRA and the Tea Party, both being wishy washy with standing up for The Contitution and our Rights & Freedoms. Anti Ron people seem to be Rinos and warmongers.. That being said I am a 8yr Army Infantry Vet..so don’t acuse me of arm chair pasifism.
*********** Ron Paul has all of my families votes.

  • BRUCE January 9, 2012, 9:32 am

RON PAUL IS AN OVER-THE-HILL PSYCHO. HE’S GOOD FOR NOTHING EXCEPT SPLITTING THE CONSERVATIVE VOTE. THE OTHER CONSERVATIVES MAY HAVE FAULTS BUT NONE LIKE THIS GERIATRIC OLD MORON!

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 5:01 pm

You are aware how a primary works right? Obama isn’t in it yet, the only vote to be split is the anti-Romney vote.

  • MDE440 January 9, 2012, 9:20 am

I’ll take anyone over Obama. Paul has so great points and also some very niave postions particularly on foreign policy.
AS far as “Don’t lose your nerve America! Vote Ron Paul or don’t vote at all! ” Shame on you “administrator” for calling people not to vote at all. Obama would love you for that position.

  • Lee Dial January 9, 2012, 9:20 am

You are telling people to Vote for a particular Candidate, or not to Vote at all? Were you a Democrat prior to becoming a Libertarian? Talk about infringing on peoples rights. I am a very strong conservative and firmly believe in our 2nd Amendment Rights. But as an American, I also believe in the right of all eligible U.S. Citizens to Vote! A strong belief in and support of your Candidate is good, but none of us are intelligent enough to choose for the other 300 million. I like Michelle Bachman’s politics the best, but she did not have the stature to, in my opinion, become President. I saw that during the debates. I will not vote for Bill Clinton, I mean Mitt Romney (intentional foul up). I liked Rick Perry until I learned about his immigration and other G.W. Bush type social weaknesses. Cain is now out. I believe Rick Santorum & Newt Gingrich are the best of the remaining Candidates and will vote for one of them.

  • JHuey January 9, 2012, 9:10 am

I’ll vote whom I please. Telling me to vote for anyone is a sure ticket to a no vote. I’ll consider Ron Paul as I will all available candidates. Second Amendment Rights is first on my list. After that, same as above. Might try asking for something before thinking about demanding it.

Just a hint for S&G on my second determining factor…strong National Defense projected around the world. Poke the SoB on his turf, not on ours.

    Let the thumping begin.

  • Chuck C January 9, 2012, 9:07 am

Ron Paul’s stance on the 2nd Amendment is his ONLY redeeming social value, on every other issue, he’s a psycho!

    • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 5:40 pm

And this is based on?… What exactly?

      • Mark January 10, 2012, 4:01 pm

        His own words.

  • Mike Kolendo January 9, 2012, 9:02 am

Please use your head people! Ron Paul will never win and if you vote for him it’s like giving Obama 1/2 vote and kicking the Republican’s chances to win down another 1/2 notch. It sucks, but it’s our system. PLEASE don’t support Obama by voting for a third party candidate! That’s what put Bush in Office. If Nader hadn’t run and pulled votes from Gore, “W” never would have been president.

    • Kevin S. January 9, 2012, 3:05 pm

Paul is running for the Republican nomination so the 3rd party talk is irrelevant. I think Paul has a much better chance at beating Obama than any other candidate because his philosophy is different from everyone else. He is able to bring in people from all walks of life. I grew in a very conservative Southern Baptist household and my whole family has decided to vote for Ron Paul because they believe he will get the Federal Government out of our lives and get this Nation back on the right track. A vote for Romney/Gingrich/Obama or any of the other options is a vote for the status quo.

  • S. Moye January 9, 2012, 8:57 am

Are you serious ? You just lost my support, GunsAmerica.

  • Avi8r January 9, 2012, 8:52 am

Ron Paul is by far the best of all Republican candidates, but…..

In my humble opinion, both parties have let the American people down, BIG TIME! Both parties equally contributed to the destruction of the middle-class and the economy. I can’t support the electing of someone on one reason alone. Ron Paul has said some things that make me dubious toward him even though I agree most of what he has to say. There are other options! The Libertarian Party (lp.org), for example, is “MORE” pro 2nd Amendment than all the political parties combined. Plus many of their positions are in line with Paul. Why isn’t the Libertarian Party being discussed? After all, former NM Governor Gary Johnson will be their candidate this election. He seems to be more Libertarian, sensable as well as moderate than Paul. One other benefit is that the Libertarian party isn’t receiving campaign contributions from the top 1% therefore not beholding to them!

The 2 party system has destroyed this country! Don’t you think it’s about time to get off the Crazy Train?!

  • Doc January 9, 2012, 8:50 am

Based on most of these comments Paul Helsinki I think you can see where your bad idea, single issue, vote is going. As a new subscriber to GunsAmerica I’m not going to drop my email subscription, but I am beginning to wonder just what I signed up for.

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 4:59 pm

It’s quite simple really. He did a piece on the best 2nd amendment candidate. Considering his business this makes perfect sense, no?

  • D. Hodges January 9, 2012, 8:25 am

To tell you the truth I don’t trust any politician. We need to vote them all out and start over. Paul has some good ideas, but he would never get any of his proposals past the congress. Have you ever wondered why the libertians have never voted for Paul as their leader? Answer: He is too far right on several major issues, like foreign affairs and defense. His ideas may have worked years ago but not now.

    • j wood January 9, 2012, 2:51 pm

Don’t know about the “libertians,” but Ron Paul was the Libertarian Party Presidential nominee in 1988.

      • Scorch January 11, 2012, 2:06 pm

        Jwood

        LOL LOL LOL

  • Don Niederhofer January 9, 2012, 8:16 am

Problem with Ron Paul is he has absolutely no chance of achieving the ultimate Republican goal of beating Obama. It will be McCain all over again.

    • Chris in California January 9, 2012, 10:56 am

No, No, no, no! Mitt is McCain 2.0… LOL

    • MJ January 9, 2012, 1:51 pm

Ron Paul will steal the independent vote from Obama. He’s the only one that can beat Obama!

  • soldtonorm January 9, 2012, 8:16 am

A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama.(PERIOD)

    • MJ January 9, 2012, 1:49 pm

      Obama:
      Socialist health care (Romney approved)
Bailed out the banks & other political companies (Romney approved)
      Decreasing civil liberties (Romney approved)
      Increase federal power (Romney approved)

      Paul:
      Free market healthcare system
      No bailouts for anyone
Return you civil rights and freedoms
Return power to the states, where it belong constitutionally.

  • Steve January 9, 2012, 8:16 am

It is real simple, if you believe in Ron Paul then vote for him in the primaries. When you go in to vote for president this year, vote for which ever candidate is on the ticket and beat Obama. If it be Ron Paul then that is who I vote for, if it is Santorum then that he gets my vote, but in the primaries, vote your conscience and make your political statement. And yes I do believe that Mitt will be another Obama in republican clothing. I can only hope he will not win the nomination, I know he will not be getting my vote in the primary. Doesn’t really matter though, I live in California where the primaries are basically over by the time I get to vote.

  • Wise1 January 9, 2012, 8:01 am

If you are going strictly by Second Amendment, then Rick Perry has to be at the top of the list. He not only supports the right to bear arms, he has a Concealed Carry Permit. He signed every pro-gun law the Texas Legislature passed.

  • Robert Martino January 9, 2012, 7:57 am

Ron Paul’s foreign policy is better suited to the 18th century not the 21st century. Everytime he opens his mouth he makes a totally idiotic pronouncement most recent example was the debate this past Saturday about th earmarks. When asked why he proposed his own earmarks and voted FOR earmarks,he stated but I voted AGAINST the budget to fund them. Does that make sense? Only to a former Kerry supporter ” I voted for the bill before I voted against it”. I am a 2nd ammendment hawk, but he can never get a majority of voters to elect him. All he can do is guarantee a victory for Obama

    • Warren January 10, 2012, 1:21 am

In 2008 Ron Paul got more campaign contributions from the military than all the other candidates COMBINED. At this point Ron Paul has 3 TIMES the campaign contributions from active duty military than all the other candidates put together, but NOTHING on the media about it. If that doesn’t SCREAM to us that we are all being lied to and Ron Paul is right on foreign policy, blowback, and these wars, I don’t know what is wrong with us. The media is OWNED by war profiteers.
Also Ron Paul is right, every single dime that is taken in should be directly allocated (earmarked). If social security was earmarked, it might still be there today, as opposed to us having to borrow money from China to sustain it.
As far as Obama, Ron Paul pulls in more support from independents and Democrats than any other Republican, so he’s the one MOST likely to beat Obama in the general election. People should seriously stop eating everything Fox News feeds them.

  • Robert Wyatt January 9, 2012, 7:52 am

Ron pauls military service, was as a OB\GYN, not valid at all, the only one with real experience is Perry. On the gun issue, if a candidate is willing to eliminate the NFA, he isn’t pro 2nd

    • Aaron January 9, 2012, 12:19 pm

Wow. How uninformed you are. He was a flight surgeon, not an OB/GYN in the military. He became an OB later. Perry is a globalist like all the rest. I have a suggestion for you. Please read before spouting off talking points from FOX or wherever you else you come up with these. You’re embarrassing yourself.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 9:20 pm

That’s a completely dispicable comment to make that someone’s military service is not “valid”. I don’t care if you’re a cook in the military, you should be respected for your service to the country regardless of what you did. Perry flew a cargo airplane. I don’t see how that is valid yet being a flight surgeon is not.

  • mtrangaris January 9, 2012, 7:35 am

I don’t get why so many are down on Obama. Bush handed him a mess and he has been cleaning it up. He got BinLaden and and assisted with getting Ghadaffi. He has backed the military. He is fullfilling his promise to get our guys home and the economy is on the upswing no thanks to the GOP. As far as second amendment rights go Obama has done nothing to infringe on that. I further don’t understand why honest, hard working americans have quibbles about our very lax gun control (compared to other countries) as we can have access and own almost any weapon we want. I don’t agree with any politician on everything but I am not so foolish to blindly support any party or person just because of hype.

    • Chuck C January 9, 2012, 9:11 am

Obama’s doing everything he can to infringe on your firearm rights, very subversively, but the effort is there none the less. If he’s re-elected, you can bet it will be his and Hillary’s top priority………WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Steve January 9, 2012, 9:15 am

      +1

    • JHuey January 9, 2012, 9:21 am

Want a short answer…? I don’t like Obama. He’s waiting for the right moment to hit us with a hammer on everything a Conservative holds dear, in my opinion. He gets back far a second tour we’re done for, again IMHO. Two things are stopping him, Congress for what their worth, and uncertainty. Congress is self explanatory. Uncertainty..what we the people will do if he hits the wrong button. The sleeping giant will strike in many ways when awakened. Doesn’t matter if it’s an internal wake-up or external..(hint: Yamamoto). Current political / financial / employment / health care environment is a giant water balloon aimed right at the face of the sleeping giant. Obama keeps pushing the launch button harder and harder, soon it will snap and sombody’s going to get a rude awakening.

    • Chris in California January 9, 2012, 10:53 am

MT, he has made things ten times worse. Spending money we don’t have, regulations that strangle new businesses, graft and bribery, racism in the justice department. They’ve already admitted that Fast and Furious was to get support for more gun laws. They dismissed a case against the black panthers that had already been won. How can you possibly be so blind as to not see these for what they are? The ruination of our country.

      • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 11:18 am

Obama signed into law the ndaa 2012, which effectively renders all of us with NO rights, at all, what good is any right if the government can imprison anyone with no charges, or trial, indefinitely, and then have you executed. Bush made assination of american citizens without trial legal, Obama assassinates american citizens without trial. In what parallel universe is this the united states of america, seems more like a third world shit hole every day. Vote Ron Paul, end the tyranny!

        • Mark January 10, 2012, 4:00 pm

I thought you got it by your opening sentence. You blew it with the last sentence.

  • Bob Warren January 9, 2012, 7:33 am

Vote for Ron Paul or vote for no one. Ron Paul cannot beat Obama, therefore it is silly to think we should want him as the next opponent for Obama. The first and only consideration for Republican Voters is who can beat the Dem Dictator and Paul is not that person !

  • Reed Davis January 9, 2012, 7:27 am

I love Paul’s stance on the 2nd amendment and the constitution. But his ridiculous foreign policy views will cause irreparable harm to my country. I am a proud veteran but don’t think having military experience qualifies a person to be president. One person (as president) will not change a thing. We need to clean house and send a loud and clear message to Washington: You work for us, do what we say or we will fire your ass. I certainly don’t agree with your stance “vote for Paul or don’t vote at all”. Great mindset and a sample of the kind of thinking that got us in the mess we are in now. God bless America.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 8:32 pm

I just can’t understand how people can agree, yet disagree with Ron Paul at the same time. He’s for “cleaning house”. He has a perfect constitutional voting record over a span of 30 years. Being a proud veteran as you are, I would think you would support someone who works to uphold the document you swore an oath to.

  • Jerry's Kidd's January 9, 2012, 7:27 am

Ronnie??? Are you kidding. I love your store and products offered but voting for this isolationist is ridicules!! All you guys gave up on Michele Bachmann. That was the best choice besides that clown ronnie. Rick Santorum and Rick Perry are the better choice. The only issue I have with Rick Perry is him allowing the illegals in state tuition. But we can pressure him not to allow that for all the states…Come on folks this is our only chance to make a serious and important change to the current Bamm driving us into the Abyss

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 4:57 pm

Learn the difference between isolationist and non-interventionist. Then explain how his policies would isolate us more than funding dictators and imposing sanctions etc.. Then come back and try again.

  • mtrangaris January 9, 2012, 7:24 am

Not voting is a joke and voting for Ron Paul is a bigger joke. Just plain bad advice! Paul has no chance of winning and no chance of ever being president; get real. It is good he doesn’t become president because he is essentially unrealistic regarding the economic and social policy. There are much better candidates beginning with Obama. Please tell me; exactly how has Obama threatened my Second Ammendment rights? I just don’t see it. Frankly, we are a Second Amendment Country and it is just not that easy to to infringe on our rights in this area. Recent Supreme Court decisions have clarified this!

    • DAVID January 9, 2012, 3:39 pm

GO BACK AND CHECK HIS VOTING RECORD WHEN HE WAS FRESH FROM KENYA AS A SENATOR..ONE OF THE WORST VOTING STANCE IN HISTORY ANTI -SECOND AMENDMENT……….

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 4:45 pm

Have you not heard about fast and furious? New documentation of sales in Southern states by executive order?

  • Ken Tapp January 9, 2012, 6:55 am

Rick Perry has all the Right Stuff to be the best President of the choices we have available. Ron Paul is a half-a-loaf.
Many of his supporters are young and support him as they think he will keep them from having to serve in the military. No Wars!
Support Ron Paul and you will get 4 more years of Oboma.

    • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 11:08 am

This is the most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard, most of his supporters are young because we want our country back, and most of us have served in foreign (undeclared) wars, have you? People as ignorant as you are whats wrong with this country, your generation gave away the farm, now it’s up to us to get it back.

      • Mark January 10, 2012, 3:58 pm

Ah, Joe, so to be young again, all anyone has to do is WANT our country back. You must have voted for Obummer thinking he was going to be your saviour. We all see what that got us.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 9:10 pm

Actually you couldn’t be more wrong. I would love to serve in the military. I just can’t bring myself to go fight undeclared unconstitutional wars for greedy wallstreet fat cats and the slimy politicians that they pay.

  • Timmy S. January 9, 2012, 6:45 am

    Hi all..

What must happen is not only the defeat of President Obama, but the increase of seats in the Senate and House. The only way to do this is by getting the most “Moderate” voters as possible. The danger of having gun owners become blinded by a one issue ideology ensures defeat. The big question is the economy, and an isolationist stance like Mr. Paul’s has always spelled economic and diplomatic failure. Yes, the 2nd Ammenment must remain as inviolate as the 1st.. Let’s be smart. Let’s play to win. We cannot waste votes on reactionary ideas. It’s “Big Picture” time. We must not fail. Politics is a messy pile of poo. We have to be just as adept as the socialists. Convince your friends on more then one issue, and get them to vote on election day. My friends, If it were only so simple, but it’s not. The way the Country has been driven these past 3 plus years has left us broke and at each others throats. In this case the “right person” for the job, Is The One Who Has The BEST Chance To WIN. Think Smart…Vote Smart… and we will continue to buld on a solid foundation.
    Thanks for listening …

    • Mike January 9, 2012, 11:41 am

      >The big question is the economy, and an isolationist stance like Mr. Paul’s has always spelled economic and diplomatic failure.

You are right. An economic isolationist stance spells doom. Dr. Paul does not advocate an economic isolationist strategy, however. Think about it: Whenever someone calls him “isolationist”, it is always about his military views, not his economic views. When it comes to economics, he is the least isolationist person out there. He is against economic sanctions because they are an act of war, and adversely affect the citizens, giving the dictator more power.

So if you truly believe what you say that economic isolationism is dangerous, you have only one person you can vote for: Dr. Paul.

      >Let’s be smart. Let’s play to win.

If you look at the numbers, Romney can’t win. Any third party candidate (there will be one) will cause Obama to beat Romney. Ron Paul will bring the third party votes to the republican ticket, he is the only one that CAN beat Obama.

      http://freeindependentsun.com/republic/what-the-new-ppp-3-way-race-poll-shows-only-a-ron-paul-led-republican-ticket-can-beat-obama/

  • Dennis Beck January 9, 2012, 6:20 am

No way. Ron Paul has so many negatives that I could never waste a vote on him no matter what his stance is on the Second Amendment. That would make me no better than the other single-issue voters (abortion, gay marriage, legalizing pot, whatever) who don’t look at the big picture. Vote for the person you believe will keep America secure and free through better international economic policy, military support and returning the responsibility for entitlements and education reform back to the states.

    • Aaron January 9, 2012, 12:13 pm

“Vote for the person you believe will keep America secure and free through better international economic policy, military support and returning the responsibility for entitlements and education reform back to the states.”

What you just said is exactly what Ron Paul is all about. If you would read what he is really about, you have found the only candidate who supports exactly what you just said. Congratulations.

    • Ed from missouri January 9, 2012, 1:01 pm

you just discribed Ron Paul’s policies. Maby you should look a little deeper than cnbc, abc, etc. for your information.

  • Desert Storm Vet January 9, 2012, 5:55 am

Ron Paul, even by his own admission, is NOT going to win so get over it. Obama and company are drooling watching the debates and hoping he gains traction. Either way it’s a win for them. If Paul stays in the race he’ll fractionalize the Republican party even more than it is now and we’ll end up with another lesser of two evils election. If people stay home and don’t vote the obvious result is another four years of the same crap we already have.

I’m not going to act all superior and claim to have all the right answers since I’m not and I don’t. All I know is that I don’t want anyone else in the Middle East getting the bomb. I’m not ready to welcome home my grandkids from their military service in a body bag.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 8:27 pm

I’m not sure where you get that from. Ron Paul has expressed nothing but optimism about his campaign and rightfully so. Do you have a source? Most polls I’ve seen put him in the top three consistently. If Ron Paul is so off on his foreign policy then why does he receive more military support than all the other candidates combined? I suspect the answer to this question is because they know they are fighting illegitimate wars which were started unconstitutionally. There is no “them”. The “them” you speak of owns both parties. Do some research on offshore banks and you’ll see what I mean. Also, thanks for your service.

  • Robert January 9, 2012, 5:45 am

No more GunsAmerica emails for me, I’m blocking them. Not to well informed. Ron Paul has a few very good policy statements domestically but you can’t defend the second amendment without defending the country first, what would be the point. Mr. Paul’s foreign policy will get us all a prayer rug or speaking Chinese.

    • Brian January 9, 2012, 9:40 am

What’s ironic is our current policy is leading us to exactly what you fear. Apparently your statement of “Not to well informed.” must be referring to yourself. What exactly do you think will happen when our current runaway deficit spending collapses our monetary system? The Chinese already practically own this country. The more we deficit spend, the more we borrow from the Chinese and the more they own us. If the US doesn’t have the economy to support it’s military, foreign policy is irrelevant, especially in the long run. Our biggest threat to national security is our current economic policy, not some foreign nation or ideology.

      • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 11:25 am

Exactly, when the dollar is worthless it’ll be like the fall of the soviet empire all over again.

    • Hawk January 9, 2012, 9:50 am

I’m with you Robert, my emails from GA have been terminated… This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read.. Really, Ron Paul…..You have lost your mind…..

      • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 5:37 pm

You should change your name to chicken hawk.

    • Scorch January 11, 2012, 8:36 am

Thats right Robert, take your bat and ball and go home. It never ceases to amaze me how thin skinned many americans have gotten. Robert I can assure you that you wont need a prayer rug or have to learn chinese. By the time the new world order freaks and the industrial military complex get through with you, the only thing you will have to say is YES MASTER!

  • Gary L. Krueger January 9, 2012, 5:31 am

I worked as a contractor in Iraq right along side our troops for 3.5 years. If Paul thinks we were wrong to go into Iraq I think he is wrong to lead America. What has and is happening in the Middle East is a serious threat to America and the rest of the world. I love my 2nd Amendment Rights as much as but not more than our other rights. No one who claims to be so “constitutional” as Paul can be as pro-big government as Paul. Mitt clearly isn’t the answer but Paul sure as hell isn’t.

    • Brian January 9, 2012, 9:28 am

ROFL!!! Ron Paul “as pro-big government” That is funny considering he is the only candidate who would take steps to shrink the federal government. Indulge me, what part of his platform is “pro-big government”? Is it eliminating the 5 cabinet level federal departments? Or his budget plan to cut 1trillion dollars in the first year? no? maybe his plan to have a balanced budget within 3 years? Maybe it’s his idea to reduce the federal work force by 10%, or is it in his plan to reduce corp taxes to 15% and cut some of the onerous regulations to make the US attractive to businesses again?
More likely I think you just don’t like him because you’d probably be out of a job if your company couldn’t find work in the private sector. If that’s the case, I don’t blame you but you should at least be honest about it.

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 4:55 pm

Wait, you mean Blackwater et. al. want to keep the military industrial complex the way it is? Surprise?!?

  • Tim4freedom January 9, 2012, 5:05 am

    Ron Paul’s foreign policy:

Did you know that our military is bigger than the rest of the world’s combined?
Do you know that Israel has at least 200 nukes of their own and can turn Iran into a glass parking lot if Iran so much as dared?
Do you know that even if Iran DID have a nuke, they have no means to deliver it?
Do you know they’re so poor they have to import their gasoline?
Do you know that the federal government is borrowing 43 cents out of every dollar it spends and maybe Ron Paul sees that an economic collapse is actually a much greater threat to our national security than any “monster to slay“ out there?
Look into this: The bankers have financed both sides of wars for centuries and have literally made killings off of them. Don’t think so? Look who got the bailouts and THEN the big bonuses: GOLDMAN SACHS et al. Bankers. It was reported that 80% of the people who called their congressmen where against the bailouts. And they voted against the will the of the people and for the will of the bankers anyway. Hopefully that tells ya something about the power they have over our elected officials (especially since you‘re paying for it). Plain as day why they’d want war to line their pockets.
Ron Paul is probably the only one in Washington that isn’t corrupt and tells the truth. Ya’ll should listen to him before you let the idiot box make up your minds for you (that’s controlled by the bankers too — and now they’re going for the internet).

Also, Ron Paul pulls in more support from independents and Democrats than any other Republican, so he’s the one MOST likely to beat Obama in the general election. People should seriously stop eating everything Fox News feeds them.

    • Doc January 9, 2012, 8:44 am

Did you know that our military is bigger than the rest of the world’s combined?
      So!? What’s your point?
Do you know that Israel has at least 200 nukes of their own and can turn Iran into a glass parking lot if Iran so much as dared?
Ok, so let’s get everyone using nukes in all future wars…right?
Do you know that even if Iran DID have a nuke, they have no means to deliver it?
This really doesn’t deserve a response, does it? Suitcase nuke? How about it’s allies, N. Korea and China. They have missiles that can deliver it. We’ve already seen Iran using Chinese missiles for attacking into Iraq.
Do you know they’re so poor they have to import their gasoline?
They have no refineries! Again, this really doesn’t deserve a response. They’re so poor then can’t work on enriching uranium too right?
Do you know that the federal government is borrowing 43 cents out of every dollar it spends.
Ok, on Economics Paul has SOME good ideas for sure. He also has some really bad ones. ie:Gold standard

Ron Paul cannot defeat Obummer. The liberals overlooked all of Obummer’s bad points and look where it got them.

      • Jason Edwards January 9, 2012, 1:09 pm

        Doc,
Thanks for the rebuttal attempt. Your comments really make the original argument much stronger. Especially when you say the “gold standard” is a really bad economic idea. I suppose you support printing more and more monopoly money?

Most of you Ron Paul haters are repeating the same thing: bad foreign policy. However, if you think about it with your own minds and common sense, is it really a bad idea to make our own country the priority for a change?

We have been so distracted by “republicans vs. democrats” or “liberals vs. conservatives” that when someone tries to disrupt these two main parties, they are immediately dismissed because they don’t have fox news or msnbc supporting them. Turn off the Corporation’s propaganda machine and think for yourself!

Why not vote for someone who supports the constitution?

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it… Lets look at the USSR as an example. Strong military might, but poor economics, and look at their country now. Ask any of the Russians that have taken refuge in our own country and they will tell you what it was like.

I voted for Obama because I thought he would bring change. Now after 4 years, nothing has changed except the rich getting richer, while more and more middle class are joining the unemployment lines.

Now I’m voting for Ron Paul because he’s not a republican or a democrat, he’s something new. He’s not supported by the huge corporations, but backed by the people who want less government and more freedom.

Do yourself a favor and listen to him speak. Don’t let other people draw conclusions for you!

        • Doc January 9, 2012, 4:59 pm

Thanks for NOT answering any of my comments to yours and keeping it on point :-/ By the way, just in case you didn’t notice Paul is running in the “Republican” Primary…for now.

          • Jason Edwards January 9, 2012, 7:07 pm

What happens if Paul wins the primary Doc? You still gonna reverberate the gospel Fox news is spinning? Have you ever tried to think things through without fear and hatred in your heart? I’m praying for you man.

Block out the noise you inundate yourself with and do your own analysis of the state of our country. It is the everyday Joe that is struggling. The middle class, the factory workers, the teachers, nurses, civil servants, and basically anyone else who punches a time clock.

Drawing back the reigns on our military to focus more on our financial infrastructure is necessary. Wake up! We have to stop borrowing money to occupy other countries with no direct benefit for our own people. It only favors the rich who control us with fear, and a rigged political system mired by campaign contributions that ensure nothing will ever change.

Ron Paul is running the Republican ticket because he is now big enough to possibly win the nomination. His policies are originally Libertarian -They didn’t mention that on Fox news?

      • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 7:53 pm

-His point is that our current foreign policy is bankrupting us. Lets try something more conservative like only speding money on domestic defense.
        – Iran isn’t trying to obtain a nuke. You’re being lied to. They’ve invited the IAEA to do an inspection and they’ve signed the nuclear non-proliferation agreement, BOTH of which Israel has refused to do.
-This one is null and void as the above response covers it.
-Iran doesn’t have the ability to create weapons grade uranium. U-233 is for energy while U-235 is for nukes if I remember correctly.
-Not having a reliable supply of gasoline in the form of refineries puts a significant damper on your options of attack.
        – You’re actually correct on this one. Ron Paul is a boss when it comes to economics.

      • Mark January 10, 2012, 8:36 am

Finally Doc, some truth. As for Tim4….,so Ron paul is loved by the Damnocrats and the independents. What does that tell you? If you would open your eyes to history, you would see how they loved John McCain, who is one of them in disguise. He was voted for in primaries where you did not have to be a Republican to vote in the Republican primaries, by Damnocrats. They chose our candidate. That should be illegal.
As for what Fox is feeding people, just look at the lies and filth the great ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN have been and continue to pump out. Wake up fellow.

        • Scorch January 11, 2012, 9:16 am

Mark, good fellow, YOU need to wake up. You actually still believe that there is a difference between the two parties. They both work for the same master, the banksters, and their god is money. You get socialism with the democrats and facism with the republicans. Two different management styles that lead to the same end, economic collapse and the loss of our sovereignty with the elite offering a collectivist solution. They both are spending us into oblivion with no end in sight using and unsound monetary policy based on fiat currency and debt. A corrupt system that can not go on. If you continue to listen to the idiot box without filtering out the propaganda, you will continue to aid and abet the very people who wish to enslave you. The new world order that they speak of is nothing more than the old world feudal system with a high tech twist. Ron Paul has been consistent his whole career and stood for constituitional LIMITED government and INDIVIDUAL freedom. A vote for anyone else is a vote for the current failing paradigm and your enslavement.

    • Scorch January 9, 2012, 3:02 pm

Right on Tim. Vote Ron Paul! Wake up the rest of you media brain washed stepford wives. The Ted Turners of the world paint the picture that they want you to see and consider you a USELESS EATER, his words not mine. The Banksters, in colusion with the industrial military complex, are running the country and the world into the ground for their own gain and control. They own the media, and in the early 80s Ted turner changed the way americans got their news with the repetitive hour news feed. Remember the movie a clockwork orange. The corporate media is very well aware that if they throw the same garbage at you hour after hour, day after day, week after week, your eyes will eventually glaze over and you will absorb their crap! Mind control propaganda at its best. You are being trained for SERFDOM.

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 7:00 pm

As a DIABLED VETERAN all i will say to your comment is AMEN

  • Bernie January 9, 2012, 4:13 am

Hold on there before you go half cocked… This is the same guy who wants to give Iran the NUKE!, The same guy who absolutely refuses to back Israel! The same guy who wants to legalize ALL drugs and so and so and so….. You have got to be kidding ? This guy is a full on socialist the same as Obama, and you want to elect a mature Obama? No thank you… Not if my life was on the line, and if he is elected it would be…Could you imagine a world where every drug is legal and kids are so high driving around on every imaginable causing wrecks and killing people on freeways, or breaking into your home just to steal or kill to get what you have to sell it to get more legal drugs, it is a nightmare scenario. Ron Paul is a candidate that’s time should never come…

    • Ted January 9, 2012, 5:21 am

Ron Paul supports legalized drugs. He is an isolationist crackpot that doesn’t live in the real world, and has published numerous racist and inflammatory articles in his newsletters. NO to ron paul.

The only thing he is accurate on is economics.

      • MJ January 9, 2012, 1:39 pm

But Alcohol is ok? It’s not a drug?

Our experiment in prohibition proves that banning substances doesn’t work. Two years after the start of the ban on alcohol consumption was already higher than before the ban, and continued to rise. All the ban did was destroy legit business, limit a person’s freedom, and created a black market which lead to a rise in violent crime. The war on drugs is a failure! We imprison non-violent offenders, meanwhile it is still as easy as ever to get whatever illegal drug you want, after spending Billions of dollars! Education, not prohibition is what works. But I’m sure you’ve actually researched what you vase your opinion on.

And George Washington grew marijuana. (the only drug I partake in is Scotch, but like your guns, I have no say what you do with yourself peacefully)

    • Hawk January 9, 2012, 9:45 am

      Bernie,
You got it right.. NO RON PAUL.. Not now, not ever…….

    • Chris in California January 9, 2012, 10:39 am

On this point the non paulistas are wrong. He wants to get the Federal Government out of what you do in your own house. It’s none of the federal government’s business if you used drugs you grow or make yourself. Unless it crosses state lines it’s not the federal government’s business.

    • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 10:57 am

Wow, that is so misinformed. Do people break into your home our steal to buy alcohol? Unlikely. If drugs were legal there would be no black market, no huge profits going back to the cartels, and no junkies breaking into homes and cars because they’d be able to afford the drugs that they are already doing anyway. Besides that Ron Paul doesn’t want to legalize drugs, he just wants to make it a local matter, which it should be anyway. This idea that the federal government can protect you from everything is asinine an pure cowardice, the same sentiment that reigned supreme in nazi germany and soviet russia, use your brains people! Vote Ron Paul!

    • Tim January 9, 2012, 4:38 pm

Your logic and facts are both faulty. Paul does not want to give Iran a nuke. This is pure absurdity. What Paul is actually on record as saying is that there is no PROOF that Iran is enriching uranium past the level of medical isotopes etc, to the much much higher level required for bomb making (If you actually read the international report, it directly supports this). Paul doesn’t WANT Iran to have a nuke and no one wants to GIVE Iran a nuke (except maybe North Korea). This is complete and utter B.S. Paul thinks that Iran has the right to develop nuclear power and medicine like anyone else, and would not start an undeclared war on a nation that does not pose a direct threat to the United States based on speculation. What, exactly, about that is unreasonable?

Re drugs: again facts and logic; Paul does not want to legalize drugs. He believes (correctly imo) that congress pulled a power grab and the activist supreme court agreed to increase their power in the ’95 ruling. This is the same interstate commerce that all the conservatives are up in arms about saying shouldn’t be expanded again to allow an individual mandate, but as usual hypocrites prevail.

      The actual issue is two-fold:
One doesn’t involve the drugs at all. One is simply stating that the federal government has no power under the constitution to restrict the sale of any substance within a state. The commerce clause has been continually expanded by SCOTUS, but any plain reading will tell you it is absurd to read the constitution’s “ability to regulate interstate commerce” as being equivalent to “ability to ban intrastate commerce”. I suspect many of you would agree with him on this issue time and time again as a simple state’s right’s issue, but because it’s primarily California being restricted and you find drugs morally offensive you don’t see a problem.
The second involves drugs directly. Should we tell adults what to do when it doesn’t directly affect other people? Is it easier for kids to buy pot or alcohol? If drugs were legalized would lacing, child-purchasing, etc actually go down because the sales would be legitimized (and taxed)? How did prohibition work out? Did demand go up or down? Did it become more or less of a social problem? How do you distinguish illegal drugs from pharmaceuticals from alcohol from caffeine in any meaningful or philosophical way in order to determine which ones ought to be illegal? How much has the drug war cost — money, lives, and imprisonment?

    • Nathan January 9, 2012, 6:56 pm

You moron. You throw the word “socialist” around and clearly you have no idea what it even means. Is Obama a socialist? Certainly. But unlike the big-government RINOs Ron Paul is running against, his beliefs are the furthest thing from socialism.

Paul is against entitlement programs, which take money from one person and give it to another and have been slowly turning us into a socialist nation for many years. And, ideally, Paul wants all income taxes abolished because they’re unconstitutional. Does that sound like socialism?

And on the subject of Iran, Paul has said numerous times that he does not want them to obtain a nuclear weapon. He just doesn’t believe yet another avoidable quagmire of a war should be our first course of action. But if at some point a war with Iran become unavoidable, Paul would fully support it — provided it was officially declared by Congress… you know, in accordance with that little document called the United States Constitution. That’s some seriously dangerous thinking, I know. Come on, people. Stop drinking the neocon warmongering Kool-Aid. You’d think we would have learned our lesson with all the lives and dollars lost in Iraq. We are facing almost unavoidable economic ruin, and you want to start another expensive war we can’t afford with a country that has nothing to do with our national security. This is how we collapse and become the next Soviet Union.

And, by the way, if you think any of the big-government faux conservative Republicans Paul is running against are going to do a damn thing to defend 2nd Amendment rights, you are being incredibly naive.

    • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 7:36 pm

If you’ve listened to the debates then you should know that Ron Paul DOESN’T want Iran to have nukes as he has clearly stated several times. He doesn’t want anyone to have a nuke at all. If Iran was so hell bent on attacking Israel as the mainstream propagandists would have you believe, then they could do so with the chemical and biological weapons they already have so the nuke garbage doesn’t add up. Ending the war on drugs would actually save thousands of lives by cutting out the profit margins the drug gangs shoot each other over. Those kids you talk about driving around high can most likely get the drugs they want anyway without them being legal, only they have to go get them from some shady character rather than a pharmacy or a clinic.

  • John Recktenwald January 9, 2012, 3:44 am

I’m voting for Ron Paul. He wants a Declaration of War before we go to war. That is in the Constitution and I totally agree. He (and Perry) are the only candidates with military experience. He put it on the line when it counted and he gets more contributions from the troops than all the rest of them combined. He supported going after OBL. He is right when he calls these other guys chicken-hawks.

He is the ONLY candidate I trust on the second amendment.

  • G. Michael Craig January 9, 2012, 2:36 am

I think Dr. Paul is really Thomas Jefferson reincarnated. Listening to him in the debates is like emerging from a damp, dirty, celler full of rotting, decaying garbage, and getting a sweet, clean breath of fresh, pure air. That’s a very accurate analogy.

As an aside, I notice that we can now purchase 7.62 x 54 Russian Mosin Nagants for about 77 bucks, and 440 rounds of ammo are about another 77 bucks. That seems like a steel to me. My friend just bought one. He brought it over to my range so we could put it through it’s paces. I was impressed. It’s no Cadillac, but it’s made right where it counts. Shoots tight groups too. About the same ballistics as a .308. I think I’ll get one before the Manchurian Candidate in the Oval Office outlaws them.

  • John Danza January 9, 2012, 2:35 am

Ron Paul has good ideas for financial stability of the country. However, his foreign policy ideas are so dangerous to the country that he can’t be considered a serious candidate by anyone who gives him more than five minutes of thought. He has made recent comments stating that Iran isn’t a threat to the U.S. or its allies and he thinks they only want nuclear weapons because of threats made by the U.S. This is the kind of “hate your country” stuff we get from Obama and liberals. There is no way I would ever vote for Ron Paul, and you shouldn’t either.

    • Ronnie Gillikin January 9, 2012, 4:35 am

Well said John. This time around Ron Paul is getting a pass from his supporters the same way Obama did four years ago. I hope his supporters will wake up and really hear everything he stands for and not just what they want to hear.I also hope they do not agree with his foreign policy because if they do ..well that is even more scary than he is for the future of our Country.

      • jdkchem January 9, 2012, 10:06 am

Traffic cams are a local government matter. If you don’t like them the solution is to vote locally.

        • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 10:49 am

Do you really believe that? You don’t think dhs is already using those cameras with bio metric facial scan software to track people? Janet Napolitano came out last year stating that the biggest that facing the US was “home grown” terrorists, which she defined as “gun owners”, “veterans”, and “constitutional political activists” such as the oath keepers. If you all think your not on a list just for subscribing to this blog your crazy, that is those of you that aren’t government shills planted here by dhs to spread disinformation.

        • BenjaminAshkenazy January 9, 2012, 2:59 pm

Not if the federal government gets involved like it did in ’94 and other times in the past.

    • Brian January 9, 2012, 9:11 am

If his foreign policy is so dangerous then why does he have the overwhelming support of the military? He has received more money from active military then all other candidates COMBINED! Iran…. seriously… A little desert country that barely has any military might. That would be like Hulk Hogan being threatened by a little baby.

      • jdkchem January 9, 2012, 10:04 am

You don’t need military might to create havoc. And isolationism is an absurd foreign policy platform. Then of course there was the moronic idea of letters of marque and reprisal. Brilliant idea, let’s endorse piracy as a means of national defense. Shall I continue on to earmarks and his blatantly racist newsletters or have you had enough?

        • brian January 9, 2012, 2:08 pm

Hey dummy.. before you start spouting off, First the know the difference between isolationism and noninterventionism. The so called moronic letters of marque and reprisal are exactly what the Constitution calls for in that instance. Where the hell do you get Piracy from? Now yes lets get into earmarks.. I will make you look like the fool you are. pull your head out of your ass.. quite drinking the socialist wing of the republican parties BS. Also it may do you good to turn off the draft dodgers (rush limpbaughs) radio show and clean out your ears. People like you have no clue what is going on. Hey how many deferments from Vietnam did Gingrich have? what about Romney? Chickenhawk cowards. As I said you don’t have a friggin clue.

          • DAVID January 9, 2012, 3:25 pm

you see , dumbasses like you is why we are in ths shape..you wanted change, brother you sure got it.now if liberals and conservatives would work together instead of constantly name calling we might get this country back to where it once was .the greatest nation on earth….oops, sorry for the name calling.

        • Scott Bain January 9, 2012, 2:09 pm

I’d like to take a moment to address a few of the falsehoods you’ve mentioned.

          1) A person or group granted a letter of marque & reprisal is commissioned to go and legally hunt someone down &/or kill them. It is an excellent tool -granted to us by our Founding Fathers- for dealing with issues such as the attacks of September 11, 2001.

          2) Isolationism is the policy which we have been engaging in for a very long time. A bully isolates himself through intimidation & senseless violence towards those around him. Ron Paul advocates communication, friendship, and TRUE free trade with other countries, without meddling in their affairs. According to the CIA, the meddling done by Washington politicians in the affairs of other nations is the source of our tensions with countries around the world.

They agree with Ron Paul, as do our soldiers. They live under the devastating affects of our extremely flawed foreign policy. What makes you & those other parrots like you think that you know more about our foreign policy than our soldiers that experience it day in and day out?

          3) Ron Paul is right, every single dime that is taken in should be directly allocated (earmarked). If social security was earmarked, it might still be there today, as opposed to us having to borrow money from China to sustain it.

          4) And finally we get to the ‘racist newsletters’. A recent investigation by Ben Swann of FOX News Cincinnati has discredited this media induced slander, and revealed the original author. Also, if Ron Paul is such a racist, then why is it that Austin NAACP President, Nelson Linder, has spoken out in his defense on this matter? Why did Ron Paul treat countless people to poor to afford healthcare, many of them minorities, at his own expense instead of passing it on to the taxpayer? How many doctors will do that today? Anyone that uses the ‘newsletter argument’ in an attempt to discredit Ron Paul is very desperately grasping at straws.

          Bottom line?

If you don’t know what you’re talking about, you should keep your mouth shut & stay away from the voting booths.

        • Frank Farmer January 9, 2012, 2:44 pm

Don’t be silly. He is not isolationist. Putting sanctions on other countries and other acts of war is isolationist. Undermining and toppling their elected leaders and trying to set up puppet governments which you later try to topple is isolationist. Letters of marque and reprisal are not paracy, but they were designed to combat piratetes, which are much like what we had with small terrorist groups before geniuses like yourself decided to attack entire countries that had nothing against us and create for us millions upon millions of enemies. You shouldn’t continue because you would just continue to embarass yourself, but you should start to think and read up on some things.

          • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 5:31 pm

            ^^^^ exactly.

      • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 7:20 pm

Good point. Iran doesn’t even have enough gasoline for themselves, but attack is imminent! Lol

    • Mark January 9, 2012, 9:53 am

John D. you are right. You and I will never vote for this goofball. Too bad those Ron Paul supporters can’t get the stars out of their eyes and look at all he says. They are just like the Hussein Obum supporters. They drink what these two say by the gallons.

      • Tim January 9, 2012, 4:20 pm

Mark, this is patently false. I disagree with Paul on a good variety of things. The fact is there is simply no other candidate that is remotely close to his stance on core founding principles (Freedom anyone?). I’ve looked at a huge amount of what he has actually said, and I see very very few issues, and most of them come down to semantics and in those cases I still respect his logic. All of you pro-war people are the ones who have been doing the drinking. Do you think the military industrial complex has no interest in perpetuating these wars? You’re the ones who have bought the propaganda.

A simple, direct, non-inflammatory question for all you pro-war people:
What would you have to believe (statistic, event, whatever), that you currently don’t think is true that would convince you that intervention was a bad idea?

        Pointed questions:
How many times has Switzerland been attacked by terrorists (or attempted)?
Have attempted acts of terrorism directed at the United States gone up or down since we went into Iraq and Afghanistan?
Why do people want to kill Americans? If you really believe it’s because we’re free and prosperous refer to the Swiss question.
Lets say Iran has a death wish, and lets say they do attack us (I’m not sure how, lets say they sail their pathetic navy to our coast) what would be their motive? Would it be that we didn’t have enough presence in the middle east and that we’re free or might it have something to do with us overthrowing their government with the Shah and causing the deaths of over 100k civilians in the middle east in the past 10 years? If it is because we’re free why not let some lefty statist like Obama just make us less free? (not serious)
No, I don’t think the middle east will love us if we left tomorrow, but how many wrongs make a right?
Can you make the argument that we were fighting for freedom while we simultaneously funded multiple military dictators?
Did you know that Paul has correctly predicted a great many of these things — such as the insanity of aligning ourselves with the likes of Gadaffi? (oh yes, supporting him was one of many horrific parts of our interventionist foreign policy). I do not intend to suggest he is a genius, rather that anyone who took an objective dispassionate look at the effects of our foreign policy (including our own CIA) can see “blowback”.
Why do we proclaim to be helping Israel by staying in the region when Netanyahu said that Israel can take care of itself while addressing congress? Again, why do we do so while giving more combined aid to Israel’s enemy’s than to Israel?
You support the system where we support Musharraf, Mubarak, supported Osama bin Laden himself, overthrew elected governments with oppressive ones… shall we go on?

    • Frank Farmer January 9, 2012, 2:33 pm

The question, John, is when will you give it more than five minutes of thought. If you did, you would come to the opposite conclusion. Just remember, you are responsible for destroying the future of your children and grand-children, and mine.

  • Ronald Helms January 9, 2012, 2:34 am

We all should vote for Ron Paul, there should not be a President in office that has no military back ground. I joined the Army back in 68, I did not wait for the draft. A lot of people worked very hard to stay out of the Military even running off to Canada. If you are going to be a American then you have to stand up and fight for it, leave our guns alone, I dont call 911 when a problem comes up I call mr. 357.

    • Chris in California January 9, 2012, 10:29 am

I agree somewhat with Ronald. I also call 357 or 32 or even 22 depending on where I am in the house when someone breaks in. Don’t break in while I’m in the bathroom, that’s where I keep my shotgun, LOL.

But Ron Paul’s foreign policy ideas are suicide. I don’t want to have to use my firearms to repel foreign invaders.

      • Scott January 9, 2012, 12:20 pm

Shotgun can be deafening in a bathroom. I would replace that local with the .32. Just sayin’

      • Ed from missouri January 9, 2012, 12:38 pm

all of you who would criticize Ron Paul’s foreign ploicy should read what our founding fathers had to say about foreign policy. Start with George Washington’s farewell address. Why can’t we mind our own business ? It seems that the U.N. is running our foreign policy, thats suicide, they don’t even like us. They [ the U.N. ] would have us police the world and have everyone hate us for it. It’s time America took charge of its own foreign policy and left other nations to police themselves. Ron Paul has said that if we were attacked he would get a declaration of war from congress and use the full force of American might to end the war quickly. I pity the fool who would attack us with Ron Paul as president.

        • Tim January 9, 2012, 3:53 pm

Ed, exactly. This should be the basic premise of a DEFENSE strategy. “Don’t mess with us, the consequences to you would be catastrophic.” I believe Paul would very much agree with that sentiment. The difference comes in a couple categories: does preemptive war make us safer — especially against foes with a military that is absolutely laughable by comparison to ours? Does having bases across the war make sense? Why are we literally subsidizing the defense of multiple first world countries, so much so that they consider our troop presence when determining what their levels in their own countries aught to be? Who are the troops in Germany and Korea defending AMERICAN citizens from? Does perpetually declared war make sense? Do the people understand that a state of war always undermines personal liberties

      • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 7:16 pm

Promoting peace by keeping to yourself militarily and influencing trade with other countries is not suicide. Endless, pre-emptive wars started with no factual basis is suicide. You wont have to use your weapons to repel foreign invaders. Ron Paul believes in very strong domestic defense. He just doesn’t believe in nation building. What’s so bad about that?

  • moik January 9, 2012, 2:21 am

    Ron Paul 2012!

  • SFS444 January 9, 2012, 1:48 am

The man wants us to lose our military dominance. If that happens, China or Russia would fill that void. Ahmmm…….no, I’d rather not that. He is also an apologizer, like Obami.

    • MarineVeteran January 9, 2012, 3:33 am

Agreed. That’s why I could not in good conscious vote for Ron Paul. His stance on guns may be good, but his foreign policy ideas are worse than Obama’s.

    • Jeff January 9, 2012, 7:06 am

I will not support a “Blame America First” truther candidate with dangerous, if not pernicious, foreign policy theories. This is JUST ONE of many reasons I will not support Paul in the primaries. Iran is not building nuclear weapons?????? Yeah, right!

      • Scott January 9, 2012, 12:36 pm

And when did we become the world police to say that another country can or cannot build up their defenses. We have been working tirelessly for the EU and World bankers to put a choke hold on all the countries that are not falling in step with the process of globalizing the world governments and economies. Seriously, WAKE UP!

        • Jeff January 10, 2012, 2:22 am

          Seriously, go back to sleep.

    • mtmr2 January 9, 2012, 9:00 am

I can’t believe GA would endorse a candidate that wants to cripple our military and ignore foreign threats. Let’s just hand the keys to the country to China now and let Iran smuggle thier soon to be nukes into our cities and set them off. How would you reverse such a catastrophe? He’s NUTS!

      • mtmr2 January 9, 2012, 10:01 am

OK Administrator, I just woke up, and I’m out of here. I can’t support Guns America because you are campaigning for an idiot! I not going to be a member of a firearms website that is using it as a shill for a political candidate. Why couldn’t you keep this website free from divisive politics? We all agree with the second amendment rights of Americans but you can’t be satisfied with that, you have to inject your personal political support for a presidential candidate who in my opinion is dangerous for this country. YOU are the one that needs to wake up! Because of your wacko political views I am canceling my membership.

        • Ordinary Joe January 9, 2012, 1:03 pm

All you people screaming about how dangerous it would be to pull our troops home are living in a fantasy world. Our national debt is now EQUAL to our national economy thanks to the POINTLESS wars of the last decade that have left our country a TRILLION DOLLARS poorer and thousands of BRAVE WARRIORS fewer with WHAT RESULTS? According to you the result is simple: we now MUST stay there to protect the piddly and arbitrary gains we have made at great cost. So yeah, let’s keep throwing good money after bad… at least until we’re totally bankrupt and it’s too late to buy a single bullet to defend ourselves with at home. Think that’ll never happen? Don’t think part of our enemy’s strategy is to wear us down financially? Keep on dreaming. But when the billion Muslims in the world outlast us because they are the ones collecting all the oil money and we’re the ones spending it, and the US is too broke to help support Israel, don’t blame the “kook” Ron Paul. It’s just too bad Bush invaded Iraq in the first place. If he hadn’t, Saddam would still be Iran’s biggest enemy and the two countries would be focused on each other.

        • MJ January 9, 2012, 1:25 pm

He does not want to cripple the military, that’s complete BS. He wants to use the military in a defensive posture and stop being involved in overseas wars that cost us lots of money and, more importantly, the lives of Americans. Bring the troops home and put them on the border.

        • Tim January 9, 2012, 5:20 pm

Shill? You think he was paid or this wasn’t independent thought out? Do you hate the NRA because they are involved in politics? The man has a firearms blog and (arguably objectively) highlighted which candidate is best on the second amendment.

          Idiot? wacko?
Elected how many times? Expert on how many subjects? Wrote how many books? Degree in medicine? I’m sure everyone is welcome to disagree and speak their mind (it is of course a public venue), but resorting to blatant ad hominem just makes you look childish.

        • Kaycey351 January 9, 2012, 5:35 pm

You got it buddy! I’m doing a bit of research on who backs this propaganda.

        • Kevin Fitzgerald January 9, 2012, 6:24 pm

WE HAVE LOST OUR CONSTITUTION,OUR FREEDOM…………..BUT LET THEM JUST KEEP ON TRYING TO DIS-ARM US.THE FOUNDERS OF THIS NATION ARE ROLLING IN THEIR GRAVES……PRY OUR GUNS OUT OF OUR DEAD HANDS,”NEW WORLD ORDER” FANATICS…..WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO REBEL AND YOU ARE PUSHING US INTO A CORNER.OUR FOUNDERS SAW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO A DIS-ARMED POPULATION AND IT WILL NOT WORK.WE WANT OUR FREEDOM BACK. mtmr2 you are another Sheeple ,you are a brain-washed nutcase who will follow the rest of your kind off a big cliff. You are more dangerous than any gun.

        • Warren January 10, 2012, 12:35 am

the military overwelmingly disagrees with you. due to the fact that Dr Paul receives more campaign contributions from the military than all other candidates combined. Calling Ron Paul supporters idiots is calling the overwelming majority of the military idiots. the article is correct. people need to wake up.

        • Mike in Baltimore January 11, 2012, 8:56 pm

          Amen. And +1

      • BenjaminAshkenazy January 9, 2012, 12:26 pm

      • Scott January 9, 2012, 12:43 pm

Speak it bro! Thanx for the topic

      • MJ January 9, 2012, 1:54 pm

He does not want to cripple the military, that’s complete BS. He wants to use the military in a defensive posture and stop being involved in overseas wars that cost us lots of money and, more importantly, the lives of Americans. Bring the troops home and put them on the border.

“Let’s just hand the keys to the country to China”
Keep on the current economic projections and they will just buy America. Wake up!

      • daveo January 9, 2012, 2:52 pm

I sense a lot of fear in you…are you really that afraid of poor countries on the other side of the world? Heck, if you like to wallow in fear…just ponder what the Welfare/Warfare state has done to our sovereignty as you continue to think about China’s economic dominance of our nation. It’s not Obama causing our debt…it’s the mainstream of both political parties which are fleecing our nation.

        • DAVID January 9, 2012, 3:17 pm

all of those so called weak nation.have been trying their best to destroy us infidels for many years.just give them a chance and see what happens….we AMERICANS seem to be the most hated nation in the world.why.i guess our strong christian beliefs?

          • MJ January 9, 2012, 5:54 pm

Do you have any idea what blowback is? We’ve been running this country as an imperial empire for decades. Just like how we resented the British when we get involved in other countries politics people get pissed.

You are naïve to think differently. Our interference in foreign affairs sparks hatred. Bin Laden didn’t want to attack America because of our freedom, but because we had bases in Saudi Arabia and control the royal family. Iran had a democratically elected government that we helped overthrow in 1953. We funded both sides of the Iran-Iraq war. For a history of Iran – US relations watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xjozku4v3M. In 1988 a US missile shot down an Iranian passenger jet killing all 290 people aboard, they remember that like it’s 9/11.

No one in that whole sand pit would have given two shits about America if we didn’t go over and start fucking around with their domestic politics. You are sold a lie that we firght war for freedoms, well look at the list of democratically elected governments we’ve overthrown: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covert_United_States_foreign_regime_change_actions

All for Democracy and Freedom, huh? No, we install puppets that are fascists.

          • jay January 13, 2012, 1:20 am

most of the time we americans do have our noses in others affairs when its not warrented!!!! plain and simple. If we worried about whats going on at home maybe this country would be great again. The avg. joe needs an actual candidate for the people. everyone plays the blame game but why not get an avg. person to run? see its easier to b i t c ____ and wine about it but a little harder to actually do something about it! Some of our military actions are nothingmore than being the big kid on the block bullying the litler kid. You all no thats tru.Wake up america and see whats really going on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is false. Paul doesn’t want us to lose military dominance. His argument is simply that the “Defense” budget can be cut significantly because a significant portion of the budget isn’t really for defense. It’s also not about apologizing.
It’s about realizing simple cause and effect.
Example: You bought a big shiny new flat-screen, if you leave the blinds open and the lights on all hours of night and it gets stolen are you to blame? No, the thief is to blame. Does that somehow mean you should never consider a thief’s motivations or opportunities and seek to reduce them?

  • Rasedbol January 9, 2012, 1:40 am

A vote for Ron Paul is like a vote for Obama…. He can not and will not win so a vote for him is one vote less that might put a viable candidate over the top to defeat BHO ! Have no doubt, a symbolic vote is a wasted vote.
    Just my .02 cents.

    • chaz January 9, 2012, 4:07 am

AMEN TO THAT.Ron thinks if we leave the middle east alone that they will quit hating Americans and America, what a load of B.S.He does not have a snowballs chance of being the nominee anyway.

      • Dan January 9, 2012, 8:45 am

How much do you think the next foreign power that attempts to destroy us will respect our 2nd ammendment rights? What is the track record on gun rights left in history by the likes of Hitler? Ron Paul’s pacificism would simply increase the odds of another rise of a similar despot.

        • Joepilot January 9, 2012, 10:32 am

Ron Paul is the ONLY real candidate in the last 50 years, wake up people! Every other person on that stage is a puppet of the banks and serving their self interest. You talk about nazi germany rising up, look around, your already living there! Don’t trade your freedom for security, or you will end up with neither, Benjamin Franklin said that. Our founding fathers would be disgusted. Vote Ron Paul in 2012, or don’t complain when your door is kicked in by foreign pmc’s in the middle of the night to take your firearms and your families are trucked off to the fema camp’s.

          • FresnoMikey January 9, 2012, 4:37 pm

            1. Nobody is going to kick my door in tonight or any other time except maybe for the fat bully down the street who lets his dog out three times a day to shit on my lawn. 2. Nah, he hasn’t got the guts. He’s a bully. 3. Bully bankers bought both the Rep’s & Dem’s for more war because it is good for their fees (and good for business) when borrowing dollar$ from China for more Military Industrial profits, and good for debt interest to banks. 4. While Paul is not bought and paid for by corporations, Obama is. 5. Name one thing Obama has done against the second amendment in his conservative behavior.

        • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 6:42 pm

I think you may be mistaken. Ron Paul is a non-interventionist, not a “pacisfist” as you so aptly called him. He’s already stated that he would go to war if the reason were constitutionally viable. Hitler believed that “subject races” (Jews) should not be able to own guns and we all know what happened to them because of it, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about there. Ron Paul believes in cutting military spending (attacking other countries on a whim) NOT defense spending. They are two different things.

    • Dave January 9, 2012, 8:35 am

We’ll need our firearms, because his foreign affairs stand will bring chaos and terror to our shores.

      • Doc January 9, 2012, 11:18 am

From who, Iran has no navy to speak of or air force. Take a look at those that don’t like us they are broke no money nada so just how are they going to do us harm. We have more to fear from Mexican drug gangs. So if we don’t leave troops in Korea they will what take over the world?? I am sure the troops in Germany are protecting us from Hmmmm now who is that they protect us from oh ya the bankrupt USSR. Is the base in Japan there because we expect that Japan will rise up and attack at any moment. God the nation of fools we pay to protect the world while we cant get medical care for our own folks we are becoming the laughing stock of the world with this ridicules crap

        • Kaycey351 January 9, 2012, 5:44 pm

Who is laughing at us? The EU? I don’t think so. The USA has a bigger economy than the entire European Union and they’re “broker” than we are!! Ron Paul is and would be our worst nightmare.

          • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 6:57 pm

That’s an interesting point. So because they are “broker than we are” it’s alright? China and India’s economies are forecasted to surpass our own in roughly 30 years. And why exactly do you think Ron Paul would be a nightmare? I just can’t understand for the life of me why people who want to uphold the constitution and keep the Americans free are all of the sudden “crazy” or “kooks” or in your case a “nightmare”. I think what Doc was saying is that other nations laugh at how pathetic our reasoning skills have become when it comes to fiscal responsibility and our foreign policy of forceful peace.

      • Scott January 9, 2012, 12:17 pm

Dave, you have believed the media. I have checked out the first 4:39 of this video that is FULL of info, and it took hours, but it was worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3jnFtSElH4 The media is part of the problem. Ron Paul. Every candidate should Love these United States of America as much as he does, but they are just smoke blowing powder puff marionettes! DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!

        • Isaac January 9, 2012, 6:42 pm

Someone would talk just like the Gulf of Tonkin attack that took 40 years to be declassified and the truth let out…

    • brian January 9, 2012, 2:00 pm

You are a brainwashed can’t think past your nosed idiot.. You drank every gallon of koolaide the media has ever made.

    • Mike O'Shaunasseey January 9, 2012, 2:29 pm

Your .02 is a load of crap.
If people would actually vote for the best candidate for the job (in this case IT IS Ron Paul) then it isn’t a wasted vote. A wasted vote is voting for the typical, par for the course, lobbyist loving POLITICIAN!

    • george milton January 9, 2012, 3:39 pm

Ron Paul has 10X the change Mitt Romney has. The only way Romney will ever see the Oval office is on the tour with the other fourth graders.

I know I am a Texas Republican who voted George Bush and also voted Obama (yes I did) because McCain is the type to back Mitt Romney and I knew that about him then – SWING voters will NEVER EVER pull the lever for Romney. EVER! I would pull it for Paul and some honest government in a heartbeat!

      • Kaycey351 January 9, 2012, 5:49 pm

Well,…if you voted for Obama your opinion really doesn’t count. Like the vast majority of Texans I held my nose and voted for McCain. It was easy enough to see that a vote for a part time demon and liar wasn’t as bad as voting for lucifer himself. There are no Reagans in the race so we’ll need to vote for the lesser of the evils again.

        • Niceguy Donny January 9, 2012, 7:04 pm

That makes no sense. So instead of voting on the port-o-potty with 500 turds in it, you opted for the port-o-potty with 400 turds in it? How about not casting your vote at all in defiance of the status quo? That would be the most effective way to use your vote in that case.

        • Randall January 10, 2012, 11:53 am

“There are no Reagans in the race so we’ll need to vote for the lesser of the evils again.”
          That is utter nonsense.
“Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country.” -Ronald Reagan

But it seems posthumus Reagan accomplished much more than given credit for while living. Sure, he pushed the Grace Commission to find where the bleeding money was going (and why a hammer at Pentagon might cost $120). Of course, he was soon thereafter shot and he stopped pushing. How about funding rebels in the Iran-Contra affair? (remember Oliver North in the trials?) [on a side note, why is it that we fund ‘terrorists’ ?]
Reagan also did NOT reduce spending, something he was stumping on.
And Ron Paul called him out on that in a written letter to the RNC and to why Dr Ron Paul was leaving the Republican Party. He knew that the Republican party lost its way and he wasn’t sure if there would be momentum to bring it back.

PS. If you “vote for the lesser of the evils”, then YOU are _choosing_ to still side with evil.
I don’t know how you can claim to have principles or ethics and do such a thing.

  • Ron Hess January 9, 2012, 1:32 am

I totally agree, thanks for taking a stand!

  • Jason Zehr January 9, 2012, 12:40 am

I know exactly who I’m voting for. Funny….a politician who is willing to uphold the Constitution gives the people no reason to utilize the 2nd Amendment. That is why Ron Paul is the best. Either way, get guns people.

    • Mark January 9, 2012, 9:45 am

      Don’t forget the ammo people.

    • J M Pettaway January 9, 2012, 10:44 am

I voted for him last time and will again. He’s the only candidate that speaks the truth. There is no government policy, foreign or domestic that tops that.

      • george milton January 9, 2012, 3:23 pm

Amen to that – Paul not only speaks the truth but also TAKES positions on issues and does not lightly or easily change his positions. A true President.

    • GARY January 9, 2012, 2:15 pm

Obama must love Ron Paul. If splits the Republican vote he gets reelected. Paul is perfect for the Democrats. The votes he gets will, no doubt, be from some of Obama’s strongest critics. So the kick is, every vote for Paul will be a vote for Obama – ain’t pretty but that’s the picture.

      • george milton January 9, 2012, 3:29 pm

Actually right now it is Perry and Santorum that are splitting the ANTI-ROMNEY vote with Paul to ensure Romney gets the GOP nomination. Romney could run against Obama and lose 100 times because (A) Romney is a liar and a pig with no moral center who has handed out Pink Slips to American workers for millions in personal greedy profit (B) He a Flip-flopper who refuses to take positions and also changes his few positions weekly (C) He is not a veteran (D) He is a vane 1%’er and PINK SLIP machine (E) Being tall with good hair and making nice speeches does NOT make you a president (F) He has NONE of the virtues and ALL of the sins of a typical Washington politician.

        • george milton January 9, 2012, 3:29 pm

AND none of the swing voters will ever swing to the Republican side with Romney as the ticket. Period. Paul they will swing Right for.

        • Kaycey351 January 9, 2012, 5:41 pm

In regard to (E) above : Yes it does. Being tall, with good hair and making nice speeches made obama president! Nowadays it’s who can tell the best lies and convince the most people. In the case of this website post you are being lied to in order to garner support for Ron Paul. He’s in bed with George Soros and he’s as good a liar as the present occupant of our White House.

          • Jerry January 9, 2012, 8:16 pm

“in bed with George Soros” — [ citation please ]

      • Frank Farmer January 9, 2012, 3:31 pm

The picture is that we should all be sad and ashamed of our countrymen, and especially gunowners. The fact that so many can’t see the obvious choice here is simply a testament to the fears of the founders that a thinking populace could not be maintained. The picture is that their experiment in self-government is an absolute failure. Generations have allowed ignorance and apathy to dominate. All of us need to get involved in educating those around us to turn this around.

Every vote which is not for Ron Paul does not matter. That is the obvious picture.

        • Kevin Fitzgerald January 9, 2012, 6:27 pm

YOU ARE AN EXAMPLE OF AN AMERICAN…NOT SOME BRAIN-WASHED CRACKPOT I SEE MANY OF ON THIS SITE`S REPLIES

          • bigevl January 10, 2012, 2:19 am

UNLESS you can educate the 4 new generations that will be voteing for our comander and Thief i mean chief. The only ay isto get tthem to regester as republicans. and the Cool Democrats that wantedthat social change that god rendered to man in genissius. Obama is still putting non-vilonet pot smokers in jail, those with 3 strikes are in jail for life!!!! So ho is pulling the strings we are just managed cattle.
Burry your second amendment right somewere on your land. In 90 wt oil. and miltary ammo boxes. and dont tell no body as the government ill try and relieve it from us. And the National Guard is Not an Action arm of the USA. The Guard is for the states.

thake it easy. Even Ron Paul Knows the fix is already in. Romey would be better than that moron from ,tx.

      • Mark Wynn January 16, 2012, 7:22 pm

You speak truth. 2nd Amendment upholders, please don’t fall into the trap of, “Ron Paul or I won’t vote.” That’s how we got the current administration — single issue voters who won their personal battles but lost the war.

      • Dennis Siegler June 2, 2014, 8:09 am

Gary, he can’t get elected to a third term. They changed that after FDR!
I’ve put my money on Ron Paul the last two elections, and will again!

    • bombshelterbob January 9, 2012, 11:36 pm

Sorry guys, while he’s good on some issues, he just plain sucks on others. I love my guns and I’ll do all I can to keep the right to “bear ’em”, I just can’t get my head around the simplistic and suicidal foreign policy, or the goofy drug policy (as the father of a heroin addict I can tell you that his position on this one is that of a fool). It’s just too big a leap for me to embrace the ‘tin foil hat party’. When you’re ready to revolution like it’s 1776-count me in, but if it;s Ron Paul-count me out. Santorum 2012.

      • Randall January 10, 2012, 10:59 am

Backing Santorum, you must not like your rights and liberties. As supporter of the Patriot Act and the recent NDAA, Santorum is one of the many Neo-Cons running. While he might not be as ‘progressive’ as Newt or Romney, he is still a chicken hawk war monger letting STUPID Americans subvert their liberties for _perceived_ safety.

Sorry to hear about the heroin addiction. But if drugs are illegal, how did that happen? Is that not a valid question? It is the same rhetoric that the Brady campaign used in trying to disarm Americans. Put an emotional tug on a story to let people drop logic and reason. Making certain drugs illegal will not stop their consumption. (like prohibition, where toxic wood grain alcohol was prevalent causing more harm than if it were lawful). The point is that drugs are bad, but PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE ‘PROTECTED’ FROM THEMSELVES BY THE NANNY STATE.

Do you not see the trend? Laws to ban cigarettes (and as of Jan 1, 2012 there are part of California where it is illegal to smoke…INSIDE YOUR OWN HOME), or to tax them into oblivion. Surtaxes on soft drinks and tanning beds. Why?

        Who owns your body?

As far as “suicidal foreign policy”, you are WAY OFF the mark. Where on earth do you get your information from? It is completely unfounded and contradictory to the real world.
Ask yourself how China can exist without having 700 bases around the world.
Ask yourself how a 3rd world country (Iran), would be a threat to the US. (like actually try to understand how they could develop a intercontinental missile system that, if it ever existed, would somehow evade our missile defense system). Our own CIA and defense contractors say Iran isn’t a threat in the nuclear arena
(and I heard that first hand from a colleague of mine that actually wrote the guidance software on our most bragged about missile system).

        • Jay January 11, 2012, 1:35 am

I believe he is right ON the mark. I got my information from listening to Ron Paul’s responses during the GOP debates not only the ones for this election but also his responses from the previous election. RP did a good job in the last election of ticking off former NY mayor Giuliani by “explaining” how 9/11 was pretty much the U.S. fault for interfering around the world. The only thing about Jihad RP understands is likely how to spell the word. If we had practiced the turtle up defense at home during WW2 that RP gives the impression for then Hawaii would be speaking Japanese and the U.S. would have a swastika on its flag. You cite Iran’s capacity to strike the U.S. but keep in mind the mullahs and top leaders of Iran are theology based so their concept of win-lose is not the same as yours or mine. If they can bring forth the advent of the 12th imam and/or serve as a spearpoint for a global Jihad against the U.S. then they will gladly pay the price that western thinking believes is not an option for them. As a former U.S. DOD admin said on an interview best – in the arena of national defense you don’t want to be one up and close to the next in line adversary its better to be far ahead else it would not serve as an effective deterrent. So we know China has a conventional powered air craft carrier to our 13 or so super carriers. As a deterrent example does RP get that 13 to 1 is more effective than huddle up at home with a brown water defense and trim down so the difference one day is maybe 15 U.S. to 13 Chinese carriers? I like my guns and want to keep them, but I also like the idea of my son not having to one day watch foreign navy military ships cruise our coasts with no effective deterrents.

      • Scorch January 11, 2012, 9:59 am

        Bombshelter,
I cant believe that you cant see that a person who has consistently espoused individual freedom and liberty as not a good choice. Thomas Jefferson said “Make no allies” and warned of international meddling in others affairs. Ron Paul in not soft on terror or any other kind of REAL american threat, he just rightly states that all wars should be authorized by congress and that they should NOT be NEVER ENDING. That if your “in it” then “win it”.
I am truly sorry to hear that your son chose to be a heroin addict. However, there are laws against using heroin and looked how well thats worked out for ya. In a free society there will always be those who make bad choices. The state cannot and should not be everyones mommy or daddy.
Unfortunately, I fear that due to an apathatic self gratifying public in need of a nanny state, we are going to see your 1776 style revolution. Look at greece and the arab world people, its coming to a city near you. If your not stocking up on food, ammo and have some real money, silver or gold, you are going to find yourself a_ _ out when the SHTF and it eventually will.
