This listing is for the exact rifle in the photos. Here is a rifle whose production mates fired upon our troops in Vietnam. This one didn't; the Mao regime sold it to Albania. Manufacturer was Jianshe Arsenal in Communist China. From its 2 prefix, it was manufactured in 1958, third year of production. Type is 1956 design, type 56, or SKS semi automatic gas operated carbine with swivel internal magazine. Chambering is 7.62x39 caliber. Construction is milled blue steel barrel, receiver and parts; and Asian Hardwood stock. Barrel is 20 1/2 inch, six groove right hand twist 1:9.45 rifling. Bayonet is removable blade type. Sights are elevation adjustable front, and drift adjustable for windage. Rear sight is calibrated flip up military, 600 meter range. Safety is lever type for right handed shooter, behind the trigger guard, up is safe and down is fire. Trigger is .305 smooth faced steel, trigger pull is two stage 5 1/4 pounds with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Buttstock length of pull is 12 1/2 inches from the trigger face to the end of the steel butt plate. Plate has an aperture, and stock will hold a cleaning kit that is Not included. Sling swivels are left side of the gas tube junction, and lower tang on the butt area, 3 /4 inch hook on the front and 1 1/4 inch permanent swivel on the butt area. We are including a period correct unissued Chicom sling. Stock drop is 2 inches at the comb by 2 1/2 inches at the heel, with a 3/4 inch right hand cant. This rifle was never southpaw friendly. Weight empty is 7 pounds 11 ounces centered at the breech face. Numbers match on the receiver, bolt, cowl, and magazine with mismatched stock cartouches. Importer stamp is on right side of barrel, beneath the exposed gas tube. Finish is smooth blue metal with chrome plated bayonet blade, and with chrome lined bore. Surface detractions are extensive, principally extensive marring on the stock, and with even wear on the metal. We rate this rifle as Good condition, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism were all bright and clean. This rifle was well greased when we got it in November of 2012. We estimate it was fired fewer than 500 times. We're offering this serviceable, collectable 1958 SKS Rifle for only $ 439.00.
