Here is a somewhat rare Mossberg Shotgun, the Mossberg 695 Bolt Action. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT. Model is 695. Type is bolt action shotgun. It is a successor to the good old model 195, produced in the late 1950s to late 60s. Construction is entirely steel metal, fitted into a one piece stock that houses the detachable steel magazine. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrel is 22 inch Accu-Choke, with .685 muzzle diameter. Since the barrel is Not back bored, this shotgun will handle anything from Rifled Slugs to steel shot with the correct tube, and the .685 is an Extra Full, not for slugs or steel. Accu-Choke tubes are readily available throughout the country. Sights are threaded brass bead front, with low profile fixed notch rear that is integral to the assembly collar. Magazine is 2 shot detachable steel box type, so 2 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Bolt is solid white steel body with milled slotted dual extractor / ejectors, an improvement over the old 195. Bolt handle is heat treated steel. Safety is cowl mounted with red dot fire indicator. Trigger is .235 blued steel, and this 95 pulled two stage at 8 pounds, with minimal felt creep, but substantial overtravel. Stock is one piece graphite based synthetic with lateral stippling, standard 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 drop and 1 inch right hand cast. Length of pull measures 14 1/2 inches from the trigger face to the end of the factory 3/4 inch black rubber recoil pad. Overall length is 42 1/2 inches. Weight is 6 pounds 10 ounces, with center of gravity at the magazine center. Finish is 1990s style Mossberg Camo, full coverage. This specimen comes to us from Mossberg’s distribution system. It was manufactured in 1995, the first year of a limited production run that ended in 2001. It likely served as a showgirl with Mossberg’s reps and writers. We call it a factory demo. Surface detractions are minimal, really no more operation streaking and faint edge whitening than what one sees on many new display guns in stores. We rate it as Excellent, 90 to 95 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean.
