Description: P. Webley & Son received a British government contract to produce the MkII Service Revolver in April of 1896. It took Webley until November of 1897 to finish production (Bruce p.189). Therefore, this revolver is classified as an "antique" and can be shipped directly to your home without any type of license requirements. I just need a copy of your driver's license to show that you are at least 21 years of age. This is a British Navy Issue revolver and is stamped on the backstrap with the letter "N" and the number "62." These Naval weapons were repaired and converted to a new pattern after 27 April 1915 (Bruce p.189). This MkII has the large broad arrow on the topstrap and has had a replacement cylinder fitted for use with .45 acp, half-moon clips. The bore is bright and shiney and it functions perfectly in both single and double action so it should make an excellent shooter. (Of course, you should always have an older revolver checked out by a competent gunsmith before shooting.) The grips are fine except for a chip out of the right toe. The left frame is marked, "Webley Patents," in an oval with "MK II" in the center. There are numerous British proof marks and War Department Broad Arrow markings. The right side of the barrel has the Nitro Powder Proof stamps. The serial number is 54xxx and all match except the cylinder. It still retains most of the blue which may be part of an old arsenal refinish. It has a nice lanyard attached to the lanyard ring. Note the large, heavy hammer which is characteristic of these MKIIs. This revolver was most likely used in the Boer War in South Africa at the turn of the Century and World War I (1).
