This is an 1842 Model Aston .54 cal percussion military issued pistol. It has a great cartouche stamped in the wood in correct place. It has an 8 1/2' barrel. These Aston 1842's were only made between 1846 and 1850. The date on the gun is 1847 which places it directly in the middle of the Mexican War era. Truly this gun is better than the listed " used, minor wear". I was tempted to list description and " used, as new".Only because the wood and metal are so nice. The wood is clean and crisp , no crack s or major dings. The metal is very nice with a super patina. Not sanded or redone. Correct markings . A great piece for Mexican War and Civil War collectors. You get the 3 day inspection. I am not happy unless you are.
