Description: This listing is for the exact rifle in the photos. This is a non firing rifle, good for a movie prop or decorative piece. Here is what the manufacturer calls a faithful replica of the famous open top, iron frame receiver patterned on Oliver Winchester’s key employee Nelson King, who hit upon the loading gate and wood forend development, an important step between the 1860 Henry Rifle and the form that traditional lever action rifles embody even today. Photos show the only defective speciment that came to us in 2011 from an Importer closeout, a 24 inch Octagonal Barrel Carbine chambered for Black Powder .45 Long Colt cartridges. Manufacturer was Chaparral Arms of Brescia, Italy, an Armi San Marco successor company that was briefly connected to Charter Arms and a German Corporation. Importer was Tri Star Arms. Barrel markings read Barrel is nicely blued with a hint of purplish hue, marking is Chaparral ~ Repeating Arms / King’s Improvement Patented March 29, 1866, October 16, 1860, in front of the traditional set-screw anchored dovetailed traditional buckhorn type rear sight, and Tri Star KC MO on the 2 O’clock flat. Tri Star, then, is was the importer of record. This rifle was not date coded, but we estimate it was manufactured in 2005 or 2006. It weighs in at only 9 pounds, and its center of gravity is 2 inches forward of the juncture between barrel and receiver, exactly where it’s supposed to be. Metal finish is a very nicely executed with a hint of purplish hue, close to the original salt blued finish. Serial number is on the bottom tang above the lever. Upper tang is marked Model 1866. Magazine holds 13 rounds of .45 Colt caliber ammunition, the .45 Long Colt as we often call it. Shell carrier mechanism and ammunition storage plate on the buttplate are solid brass, and the carrier of course mates at the bottom of the receiver. Forend and buttstock are Italian walnut. Out of some 200 Chaparral Rifles, this is the only one to give trouble. Our gunsmith cannot repair its slightly misfitted bolt and bolt channel in the receiver. It functions well for dry cycling, but will not fire and eject properly. Surface detractions are negligible, only one small lateral scour on each side of its forend. Finish wise, we rate it as Excellent, 95 percent. We’re offering it as is for only $ 459.00. We have 20 inch Octagonal Chaparrals that function well, search terms 1866 Chaparral will bring them up, $589 each. FFL Required, or local pickup over the counter with background check and 4473 execution. Not C&R Eligible.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
