Here is Mossberg’s model 500 12 gauge, Flex® Slugster in Camo and Matte Blue. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Type is rifled slug pump or slide action shotgun. Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, double slide bars, bolt, trigger and internal parts all built into an alloy receiver, with checkered surface Flex® rapid replacement or adjustment stock and forend. Finish is matte blue and black metal, with Mossy Oak Break Up Infinity® buttstock and forend. Barrel is 3 inch chambered steel 24 inch, with 1:36 Right Hand 6 groove rifling, and with 16 ports arrayed at the muzzle area for felt recoil reduction. Muzzle diameter is .725 vicinity. Rifled barrels are made for shooting slugs. They will function with lead shot, even buckshot, but do not give optimal patterns at all. Steel shot is harmful to the rifling and best avoided. Sight system is cantilever type, one piece base welded to the barrel that sits above the receiver and accepts any standard Picatinny or Weaver type optics and mounts. Magazine holds 5 rounds of 2 3/4, or 4 round of 3 inch, shells. Trigger group housing is high impact black polymer, with .292 LPA Lightning Pump Action set trigger that pulls at 4 pound vicinity with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Safety is top tang type. Flex® Stock is standard 1 1/2 inch drop at the comb, and 2 1/2 inches drop at the butt, with a reversable right hand cant of about 3/4 inch. Length of pull is 13 1/2 inches from the trigger face to the end of the removable 1 inch recoil pad. Stock has a blue steel QD sling stud, and barrel lug is drilled for one. Weight empty is 7 1/2 pounds, with center of gravity at the breech face. Overall length is a quick handling 44 inches. This model 500 Slugster comes to us from Mossberg’s distribution system. At one time, it was part of a combo. It is what we call a factory demo, probably a sales rep’s or writer’s sample. It has the letter U stamped near its serial number. Surface detractions are negligible to minimal on this shotgun, as its photos show. We rate it as Excellent, 90 to 95 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. This model 500 comes in a relabeled Mossberg Factory Box with factory lock, instruction manual with warranty statement, NSSF and NRA flyers.
