In 2017 Savage decided to market but not manufacture a Fox A Grade shotgun. Savage struck a deal whereby Connecticut Shotgun would build cosmetically altered versions of its RBL side-by-side for Savage to sell as the Fox A Grade. Connecticut Shotgun has been making the RBL since 2005, and almost 10,000 have been made to date. The RBL was, and is, an excellent gun. (See a review of the RBL Launch edition in May/June ’07.) The Fox A Grade, née RBL, is a gun that Savage should be proud of. Mechanically, it is a different gun than Connecticut Shotgun’s high-end Foxes, but it is no slouch. List price for the Fox A Grade is $4,999
This gun has been fired, with ever-so-faint primer marks on the standing breech, but only a box or so through the gun. The gun shows as new in all ways, and comes cased in the factory hard case along with a total of 5 screw-in chokes, wrench, and some paperwork. This is a solid side x side for modern loads, including steel and other hard non-toxic shot, set up for hot magnum 3” loads should you choose or need. What a phenomenal heavy fowler with tungsten shot and 3” loads! Just in time for the turkey season with the new Tunsten Super Shot (TSS)…DEVASTATION TO OLD TOM! Thanks for looking.
