Description: With the lock plate marked "U.S. Springfield, 1861" and clearly showing the eagle, along with date "1861" atop the barrel and to the side the "V P and Eagle Head" acceptance markings, this is the Premier American Civil War collectible. The rifle has mounted a correct leather sling and correct bayonet. Put it on display or use it in Living History programs, as this one is hard to top. My long time friend, who is now very sick gave this one to me to sell for him.
