Smith & Wesson factory magazines have always been hard to come by, for the metal frame compact 69 series pistols, and then in 2015, Smith & Wesson discontinued both its factory magazines for those pistols. Here is the last man standing for a quality 6900 magazine, then. This is Mec-Gar’s 10 round compliant magazine for Smith & Wesson Metal Frame Double Stacked 9mm 59 series pistols. We have modified it by replacing the floorplate tail piece with a shorter piece so that it will fit Smith & Wesson 6900 series compacts. That includes models 469, 669, 6904, 6906, 6924, 6926, 6944, and 6946. It will work in a Kel-tec P11 with some effort, but is not a good fit in the Kel-tec and not easy to release. The same is true for the Marlin Camp 9 and Kel-Tec SU2000 carbines. Many times the butt end of a 6906’s magazine well will have burrs and cause stickiness against the polymer tail piece. That is easily remedied by dressing the contact area on the polymer. Magazine manufacturer is Mec-Gar S.R.L. of Gardone, Gussago , Italy. Importer is Mec-Gar USA of Middletown, CT. Tail pieces are from a plastics molding subcontractor. Construction is smooth finished heat treated steel body, with smooth milled back weld, steel spring and stop plate, and black polymer tail piece and cartridge follower. Finish is polished surface blued steel metal body. Each magazine holds 10 rounds of 9mm caliber ammunition. Replacement pricing on factory S&W 6900 series magazines has long been upwards of $60 apiece.
