Description: General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1907, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 9oz, Chokes LM/F, LOP 14 1/2", DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 13/16"

Serial Number: 207499

Here we have a really nice L.C. Smith Grade 2E 16 gauge built in 1907 with 28” barrels and ejectors. They only made a total of 769 L.C. Smith Grade 2 guns in 16ga. and only 450 or so with ejectors, so this is a very rare Elsie. This Grade 2E is ready for your upcoming upland season and is a solid gun. Most that know the L.C. Smith gun realize that the pre-1913 guns that had “numbered models” ie. Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, etc. were the best of the L.C. Smiths and were assembled with greater care and were adorned with nicer engraving than the later “named models” like the Ideal Grade or Specialty Grade. This gun is mechanically excellent, with strong and timed ejectors, crisp triggers, functioning auto safety, barrels tight on the hinge pin and standing breech with the opening lever right of center, excellent screws, and tight ribs on the 28” nitro steel barrels with excellent bores and choked light modified and full. What a great gun for western birds like pheasants and sharptails. This gun has been fully restored prior to our stewardship and it shows nearly 100% finishes on all metal and wood. The stock dimensions are excellent and the wood is sound without cracks or splits. The Grade 2E is an attractive model with game scene engraving on the right and left side plate and nice scroll embellishments throughout the action. The rarity and desirability of this 16ga. gun make it a great investment quality shotgun that will perform in the field and at your local club better than the new guns being made by machines. You rarely see a small-bore Grade 2E for sale, so don’t miss out on this gun that is ready to go for another several decades. Thanks for looking!
