Serial number 43525, within range for the 1500 rifles of the Mitchell USN contract. Configuration with 30" barrel equipped with sabre bayonet lug, 1500 produced for the Army and 2800 for the Navy. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with minimal scattered pitting, good clear markings, and some vise marks on the frame. Sling swivels may be reproductions. Stocks are smooth with a pleasing color and appearance, may have been lightly cleaned, exhibits minor handling marks overall with some chipping around the buttplate tang and a large crack on both sides of the toe of the butt.
