This listing is for the exact shotgun in the photos. Its barrel has been drilled completely through, five inches forward of the breech face, so we are selling it for a parts gun, not for an actual shooter. Original manufacturer was Winchester Olin of New Haven, CT., and the 37 was discontinued in 1963. Type is breech loading single shot shotgun. Construction is entirely steel metal parts, and American Walnut Stock and forend with polymer butt plate. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch shells only. Barrel is 28 inch with an unknown maker threaded, .669 muzzle choke tube. Sight is a crudely glued on piece of green fiber optic. Barrel has two drill holes on .606 centers, 5 inches forward of the breech face or chamber mouth. The forward filler screw appears to have been welded back in place, but slot head is approachable on the back screw. We are not gunsmiths, but we do not believe this barrel is safe to shoot. Bore has about 20 percent pronounced internal pitting. Forend and forend iron are Very Good and tight, with moderate contact impresses at 3 or 4 places. Buttstock has a 13 7/8 inch length of pull from the trigger face to the end of the correct black polymer Winchester butt plate. Drop is 1 1/2 inches by 2 3/4 inches, with a 3/4 inch right hand cant. Buttstock and plate do not have any cracks. Receiver, lever, trigger, hammer, firing pin, extractor, and the whole mechanism operates correctly. Trigger pulls single stage at 4 1/2 pounds with negligible felt creep and overtravel. We rate the walnut stock and forend as Very Good finishwise, and the receiver exterior as Fair to Good, mostly Patina. Only the barrel is poor – enamel refinish and pitted.
