Offered up for sale is a brand new, unfired Serbian Zastava M-70 PAP AK-47 rifle in 7.62x39 caliber, with 16.25" 1:10 twist hammer forged barrel and heavy duty receiver frame. Stainless steel bolt and piston too. Bottom photo shows extras included with the "Buy it Now" option which are: one new polymer/steel lined 40 round magazine, plus free shipping within the CONUS. All original factory accessories are included: manual, cleaning rod, factory inspection certificate and both 30 round steel magazines. This rifle is brand new and unfired, purchased with several others by friends wanting the best modern AK-47. One wife does not share the desire, so this one is now available. The forged barrel has been removed (by an ex-GI) and cryogenically treated. The process slowly freezes the barrel down to 300 degrees below zero and thaw it slowly over ten day's time. It forces the molecular grain of the metal together as tightly as possible. Premium firearm manufacturers are now starting to offer cryo-treating of barrels and alloy receivers. Then the barrel was hand lapped and given a coating of moly-disulphide (dry lube). This eliminates "break-in" shooting, increases bullet speed by 2-400fps, dramatically reduces cleaning time and endures high amounts of use longer than an untreated barrel. This M-70 civilian model (semi-auto fire) is nearly identical to the same rifle made by Zastava and sold for military use (fully automatic fire) throughout Europe, Africa and South America. Do your research and avoid the cheaper, frail AK's and the models limited to 10 round magazines or single row, low capacity magazines. The Zastava Armory AK-47's are the highest quality available because they have to conform to everyone's specific requirements, so they make every firearm the best as possible. It has the U.S. import required Tapco trigger. Design improvements over models made only several years ago feature a lighter polymer picatinny rail firmly welded to the receiver which can hold numerous accessories, usually a scope, optical sight, or tactical light. The polymer will never rust or come loose & weighs much less than the old steel side mount scope rail. Plus, the polymer rail allows you to position your scope directly over the centerline of the barrel. Side mounted scopes are awkward to use, mount with rivets which loosen and rattle, create parallax problems and put weight on the side of the rifle which upsets the balance. With the picatinny rail, you can just use the open rifle sights, or mount any optic with see-through rings and use either method of aiming while keeping the scope weight placed at the balance point of the rifle. These rifles feature a heavy duty RPK style receiver (1.5mm thick) along with a RPK style bulged barrel trunnion for greater strength & consistent accuracy. Manufacturing processes such as hammer forging the stressed parts, such as the barrels and making the receiver from metal much thicker than previous models, makes for a product that upholds the legendary durability of the AK-47.
