Description: PRICE REDUCED from $1900. Make me a reasonable offer. For Sale: Colt 1911A1 Argentine Contract for 10K pistols from 1. Called Hartford Colt. Serial #9252 under Main Spring Housing. Argentine inventory #5670 on barrel, top/side of slide, and right side of frame. Has Argentine crest and Army stampings on right side of slide. Has Argentine inspection stamps in multiple places. Was arsenal stripped/parkerized before import back to US. I had it stripped/blued by Fogle's Gunsmithing in OH. It is in perfect condition. All edges are still sharp, no pitting. Grips are 34 rows diamonds, possibly put on at time of arsenal rebuild. Magazine is later authentic Colt. More photos available to show before/after refinish. Honest/simple layaway plans available.

Bit of history: In 1927/28 Colt manufactured 10,000 1911A1s for the Argentinean Army. This contract is unique in that it had its own serial number range starting at serial of: 1 to 10,000, and the pistols were marked in accordance with Argentine requirements. The only normal Colts markings are the standard left hand slide legend. G marking on top of the receiver that would normally indicate “Government Order”. Under the left stock, and around the upper grip screw bushing are the three commercial inspection marks normally applied to visible areas of the pistol. Below the bushing is the Colts “Verified” proof mark, “VP”. Behind the bushing is the Colts final inspectors mark, “S” (normally applied at the top of the left trigger guard bow.) In front of the bushing, is the Colts assemblers mark, “xx” normally applied to the top right trigger guard bow. Colts typical “Prancing Pony” and stampings on the left side of slide. Most of these pistols observed have been refinished, Notice the RA in a circle stamp on the receiver, barrel, and hammer. This marking indicates “Republic Argentina” and was applied by Argentinean inspectors at Colt during manufacturing.

These “Modello 1927”, made in Hartford, by Colts, pistols should not be confused with pistols made in Argentina under license from Colts, and marked D.G.F.M. Both pistols are quality products and parts interchange, but there is a perceived difference in value between the two. Refences copied from CoolGunSite.com.
