Description:
Springfield Armory M1 Garand, caliber .30-06, serial number 5872xxx, manufactured about 1955. This Garand has a Springfield 1963 barrel and a new gray laminate stock. It's not a collector piece, but is a nice shooter. No import marks.
Two M1 enbloc clips and a new sling are included.
SPECS:
Receiver: marked “F 6528291” on leg, heat lot T5. Has some pitting below wood, which will not get worse since the receiver has been blasted and refinished. Op rod and bolt tracks are perfect.
Barrel: marked “SA F6535448 3 63 Y16” in op rod slot, with “P” “M”, and small stars and eagle stamp. Bore is bright, very good crown and rifling. Chamber is in the white. Chrome pads at gas port.
Barrel Gauge Measurements: Muzzle Erosion: 1 ½, Throat Erosion: 2 3/4
Barrel band: two-piece flat top with roll pin
Clip latch: late square front type.
Op rod: flat side, marked “6535382 SA”
Op rod catch: late type, unmarked
Bullet guide: milled WWII type
Follower: late type, marked “11”
Follower arm: single bevel, unmarked

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring. Gas cylinder group finish is very good.
Front sight: .65 wide
Gas cylinder lock: beveled front WWII type, unmarked
Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type marked “P” with hexagon
Stock and handguards: new, laminated, gray.
Accessories: sling, new repro
