Description: Here is the most traditional of Smith & Wesson's regular product offerings in the .44 Magnum Stainless series, the 629 Stainless, sixth engineering change, This is one of the first lock variant 629-6 revolvers, still with its factory fired brass and plain blue-hinged flat case, with its instruction manual, and Smith & Wesson advertising flyers. Special Order number is 2283, for the 283rd Day of 2002, and factory sku or product code is 163603. Fired brass is dated October 10, 2002. This specimen comes to us from the collection of a distinguished West Tennessee veteran and marksman. He fired it fewer than 100 times. The revolver's only surface detractions are a few faint scuffed areas on its cylinder surface, and none of these are readily conspicuous. Hammer shows a rough spot on the left edge of its spur and frame contact on its left side, but these two aspects are original factory state. We rate it as Excellent, perhaps Near Mint, 95 percent finishwise; photos, however, should suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically. Blast effect on the underside of the frame top strap is minimal, a faint thin shallow crease that has no depth and traverses less than half the width of the top strap. Double action trigger pull is tight but consistent, and the hammer travels 5 degrees in all six positions on double action after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels fully 25 degrees on all six after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp 4 1/4 pounds. Bore, cylinder chambers, and entire mechanism are bright, clean, and excellent. This is the 4 inch Standard Heavy Barrel, no full lug, S&W Product Code 163603. While not a part of S&W's named Classic Series, this is the classic 4 inch 629, only with K-round grip frame and internal lock. Here are the factory's brief remarks: Smith & Wessons large frame revolvers are the first choice for handgun hunters and competitive shooters. The Smith & Wesson Model 629 is an N frame double action revolver chambered in the .44 magnum cartridge and can fire .44 special rounds as well. All models are drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Factory specs are Single and Double Action Revolver with Transfer Bar internal safety to prevent accidental firing if the revolver is dropped; MIM case colored .400 smooth combat target trigger and .500 checkered serration hammer with floating firing pin ignition; 6 round capacity; Red Ramp front sight and White Outline Windage and Elevation Adjustable Rear Sight; Satin Stainless Finish; 41.5 oz weight empty; 4 inch Heavy Barrel; Internal Lock with two keys; Hogue Factory K-Round S&W finger groove combat grips. Even with today's inflation, these revolvers are still selling at 1979 pricing. The abbreviation CT, by the way, means Combat Trigger, not Crimson Trace, in the S&W Lectionary. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
