The revolver was ordered like this by the British in 1941 according to the historical letters that I have from Smith and Wesson. Barrel length is 5 inches. Finish is about 50% blue with some surface rust here and there. What is intriguing about this revolver is that although the letter says it was ordered by the British it has no British proof marks or other Conmonwealth proof marks on it whatsoever including import or export marks. I spoke with the historian at S&W, and he said it may have been sent to South Africa or Canada for use by their armed forces in which case it may not have had proof marks on it.The only mark on it is a small "P" on the butt next to the serial number. There is no "V" before the serial. Meaning it was still a fairly early purchase by the British.I purchased it years ago at a gun show in Springfield Mass for this very reason.All serial numbers including grips are matching to the gun.A postal money order is my preferred method of payment .I will ship to your FFL from my local FFL.
