The 7mm Champ cartridge is a standard 7mm BR (Bench Rest) with the shoulders blown out to 40 degrees as with Ashley Improved cartridges. The net result is a 7 BR with a greater powder capacity. A full length RCBS die set it included. In testing the most accurate loads were with the use of Hornady Amax 139’s and Sierra 149 SPTs. This pistol was built for IHMSA (handgun metallic silhouette competition) by Master Gunsmith Jack Denver. The action is a standard Remington XP-100 bolt-action, with a Shilen tapered Stainless Steel Match Grade barrel. The trigger is a reworked factory trigger set to a 1.5# trigger pull. The pistol wears a custom muzzle break and a custom thumbhole style wooden stock. Sites are Redfield International Match front site that holds standard aperture inserts and a micrometer style adjustable rear site. This pistol makes for a great competition or hunting piece. Having seen a few seasons of competition it does show some external wear in the form of finish scratches as seen in the pictures, but it is in excellent working condition and as accurate as ever. Jack Denver’s rifles were featured in the GUN DIGEST and on the cover of RIFLE magazine, his XP-100s were also successful in IHMSA events. As a noted builder of center fire benchrest rifles, Jack was pictured recently in Mike Ratigan's book "EXTREME RIFLE ACCURACY".
