Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of superior strength that was under the micromanagement of John Olin himself. Model 21 guns can shoot the most powerful loads, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN! It is also well known that guns from the Custom Shop were the best Model 21's ever produced. Winchester condensed its operations into one shop beginning in 1960...The Custom Shop. Manned by the most experienced craftsman, each employed by Winchester an average of 25 years prior, these men were serious about their job and the finest details. This gun, sn31128 produced in 1966, shows this workmanship with jeweled barrel flats, water table, forend iron, and breech face; superb wood to metal fit, crisp mechanics, the finest polish on the metal prior to finishing...a masterpiece Olin would be proud of. The factory letter details the gun to a "T”, including the CUSTOM GRADE #1 ENGRAVING, UNIQUE STOCK DIMENSIONS, FACTORY RECOIL PAD, 3” CHAMBERS, CHOKES, ETC. ALL FINISHES ARE FACTORY ORIGINAL, WITH OVER 99% BLUE AND WOOD FINISH REMAING…NOT RESTORED IN ANYWAY! The nicely figured fiddleback stock is checkered with the Custom Grade checkering with ebony inlay in forend. The stock dimensions are very shootable and the gun was custom ordered with a “parallel comb”, which is known to reduce recoil to the face, neck, and head (it shoulders the same as a gun with 2 3/8” drop at heel and 1 7/16” drop at comb, with 1 ½” drop at face for more traditional shooting dimension reference) and has a long 14 ¾” length of pull, this is one beautiful gun. We have ordered an official Winchester Factory Letter from Cody Firearms Museum and it will be delivered in the next week or so. The photos will be accompanied by the Cody Firearms “info sheet” showing the same info that will be contained in the more formal letter. If you read the modern shotgun ballisticians, you can shoot hard non-toxic shot in this gun with the IC/M chokes and not risk damage to the barrels.
