Description: The Winchester Model 1894 rifle is a lever-action repeating rifle that became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles of all time. It was designed by John Browning in 1894 and originally chambered to fire two metallic black powder cartridges, the.32-40 Winchester and.38-55 Winchester. It was the first rifle to chamber the smokeless powder round, the.30 WCF in 1895.

Made in 1983, this" Winchester Chief Crazy Horse Commemorative Rifle" is number 993 out of 19,999 made. Its Caliber is.38-55 Winchester. Its action type has a lever action with a full-length tubular magazine. Its markings are to the left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER - MODEL 94 38-55 WIN. / MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL“. The top of the barrel at the receiver and the top of the receiver’s chamber ring are marked with a circled “WP” proof. The underside of the receiver is marked “CCH993”. The lower tang is marked “Mfd. By U.S. Repeating Arms Co. / Winchester TM’s licensed from / Olin Corporation”. The right side of the barrel is marked “Chief Crazy Horse” in large gold-filled letters. The left side of the receiver is engraved with a scene of Indians hunting buffalo, with a border marked with the names of various Sioux tribes. The right side of the receiver is engraved with a likeness of Chief Crazy Horse, Indians on horseback and a buffalo head. It is also marked with the names of various Sioux tribes. There is a bronze medallion on the right side of the buttstock marked with “Chief Crazy Horse / United Sioux tribes”.The round barrel is 24” in length. This rifle is mounted with a front sight dovetailed into the top of the barrel. The stocks are 2-piece walnut with a satin finish, a straight grip, and a blued crescent shaped butt plate. The forend is held with a case colored nose cap and has 5 brass tacks spread along each side. There are 14 brass tacks in the right side of the buttstock in an arrowhead formation with a bronze medallion in the middle that has white, red and black accents. Please see our pictures for more detail, as this is a very colorful and vivid medallion. The stocks rate in about Excellent condition. The rifle is blued. The receiver and upper tang are case colored. The trigger has a plum colored finish. The finish is original. Bore Condition: The bore is bright, with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore and no marks in the bore or on the front face of the bolt that would indicate that this rifle has ever been fired outside the factory. This rifle retains over 99% of its metal finish. The hammer serrations and the screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. This rifle is in excellent condition for any Buyer. This Commemorative Winchester when you see the details, it is by far the best value dollar per dollar of any Winchester collectible. It is a beautiful rifle.
