Description: British Kerr revolver manufactured by the London Armoury Co. and imported into the Confederacy for the collector on a budget. Sporting the JS and anchor marking on the grip that is widely accepted as the import mark to look for on these pistols, this revolver has been cleaned in the past and is just now starting to develop a darker patina. The rifling is strong with some darkness and minimal pitting. It woul have been imported in late 1862 or very early 1863, if being near the middle of the serial number range of the importations is any indication. The gun exhibits light to moderate pitting overall, much of it removes by the cleaning. The JS is weak, but the anchor is strong and the grips are in good condition. The good part is that the serial numbers on the frame and cylinder match, even though the number on the cylinder is barely discernible. The other thing is that all of the assembly numbers match on every part, snot a common occurrence in a gun so heavily used. The cylinder does not index properly, nor does it have a tight lockup, both of which are an easy fix, if one is so inclined. The trigger return spring is a replacement, as are some of the screws, shortcomings to be expected in a battle-used revolver. The cylinder pin lock is also missing, as shown in the photos. Additional photos to show all the markings on the revolver are available upon request. If you're looking for an all-matching Confederate-used gun for less than half the price of a slightly better Kerr, this just may be the one, or just part it out. Buyer pays shipping and insurance. If you opt not to insure, I assume no responsibility for loss by the carrier - once the shipment is consigned to the carrier, the gun is yours.
