Here we have a Winchester Model 1886 rifle with the takedown feature made in 1999 for the U.S. Repeating Arms Co. by Miroku in Japan. Faithful to John Browning’s design except the safety feature, with the heavy full octagon barrel, full length mag tube, iron sights, steel crescent buttplate, and in the big Government .45-70 cartridge…it just brings you back to the old west. Made of modern steels in one of the most high-tech gun factories of the world, you can use this gun to shoot the modern-day hotter loads with no worries. This gun is new, unfired, in the original box, which is a little tattered. The gun is 100% in all ways. Keep it as a collector gun or take her out and shoot til the cows come home…it is not a terribly expensive gun and you can afford to do either. The takedown feature is very cool, allowing for easy cleaning without pushing the dirt and gunpowder back into the action. There are not many of these guns around, with only about 1500 made from what I can research. I have read that many of these guns ended up at Doug Turnbull’s Restoration to have the action, hammer, lever, and buttplate case colored to make them into more of a deluxe version. I have even seen a few with XXX wood to bring them to full Deluxe Rifle status. At our asking price you can afford to have that done. We can do that project for you if you so choose.
