Photos show representatives of only a couple dozen Italian Walnut grips we found in an old Southern Warehouse. We have internally modified these grips to fit Taurus model 85, model 94, model 605, and model 941 series revolvers. They only leave a bit of extra space at the very top of the grip frame backstrap area, as the photos show. These Siles were originally for Smith & Wesson Chief’s Special and Kit Gun revolvers, J frame Round Butt. Since the Taurus copies have frames that are very close to Smith & Wessons, we only had to fit the top recess area, or internal shoulder, where the grip frame meets the main frame on the Taurus, and had to recess for the Taurus’s Butt Pin, as Smith & Wesson calls it. These were imported by distinguished New York Importer Sile, Inc., and all of them are new, just occasionally with some slight signs of shelfwear from their years in the warehouse. What these do, shooting wise, is to increase the size of the grip on the small frame Taurus 85, 94, 605, and 941 series revolvers, chambered in .38 Special, .357 Magnum and .22 Long Rifle or Magnum, and give the shooter better control, especially in Combat situations under stress for concealable revolvers. These grips’s heyday in the 1970s and 1980s saw them compete favorably with the much pricier factory Smith & Wesson grips that were hard to get at the time for any price. Some of our photos show the grip frame of a Taurus model 85 Ultra Lite with a set of these installed. These are all genuine cut-checkered Italian Walnut with stainless screws and screw escutcheons.
