Description: New and unfired, Remington (Baikal) MR221, side-by-side Double rifle in hard-to-find 45/70 gov. This gun was imported for only a brief period of time by Remington . I purchased this one several years ago. The box was in poor condition on delivery and unfortunately it was discarded but I have the gun, manual and trigger lock, the entire contents. Additionally, the rifle comes with a new quality leather sling, $45.00, and a new box of Garrett Cartridge Co. 420 grain hammerhead super hard cast solids,.$80.00 (see their website). It seems to be a sturdy gun and unique from the standpoint that it is an inexpensive double rifle , 3 words which you do not find together. Do not expect the materials, fit and finish of a handmade double which would have another zero or perhaps two (2) on the price tag. The wood is plain and the checkering stamped, but the feel and pointability is exceptional. The forearm is actually pretty nice but the butt stock belongs on an 870 express, if you know what I mean. The wood could be refinished, the checkering improved upon and a Silvers pad added which would greatly improve the looks of the gun, if you were so inclined. I’m selling it because I purchased another double rifle with the extra zeros in the price tag. This gun was made to be shot but due to its relative scarcity in terms of the numbers (relatively few) imported by Remington, it could prove to be a collector’s item in the future. Information exists on the Internet relating to this gun and its ability to be user-regulated via a jack screw. I cannot comment, add to, or criticize the posts out there because I have not fired the weapon. At the current price, your risk is minimal for a new and unfired double rifle. This caliber, the 45/70 gov., and the configuration will make an excellent brush gun for anything that walks on the North American Continent, especially Bears and Boars. Shipping and insurance is at cost with no mark ups or handling charges to your FFL. If payment is made by check, shipping will occur only after the funds have cleared. Reserve is modest but I'm not giving the gun away and with the extra's this gun represents the best value on Gun Broker at present. My reserve represents what I have in the gun less the $125 in extras.
