H. Heiser Double Drop Gun Belt #65 & Holster #758 Here we are offering what I call the rarest piece of Hermann H. Heiser & Von Lengerke & Antoinne of Chicago, a Double Drop Gun Belt & Holsters set with the oval makers mark from H. H. Heiser and the V L & A sellers mark superimposed on the H. H. Heiser makers mark. Even better to top that fact is the condition of this H. H. Heiser #65 Double Drop Gun Belt & #758 Single Loop Buckled Side Holsters. This one of a kind H. H. Heiser / Von Lengerke & Antoinne Hand Tooled Double Drop Gun Belt with Side Holsters is in 95% New Condition. The only thing showing is some slight soiling on 9 of the 30 Ammo Loops which are .38 Caliber made from calf skin and measure 7/8” wide all original. These Hermann H. Heiser #758 Hand Tooled Side Holsters are made for .38 Caliber revolvers with up to 6” barrel lengths although my Colt Single Action Army 5 ½” fit perfectly. The H. H. Heiser #65 Double Drop Gun Belt is Fully Hand Tooled and measures 3” wide and 42” to the center hole on the belt strap from the1 ¾” Nickel California Belt Buckle, also the belt adjusts from 40” at the smallest setting up to 44” at the largest setting. All of these H. H. Heiser pieces are made from Heavy Oak Tanned California Saddle Skirting Leather, and completely Hand Tooled by H. H. Heiser master leather smiths. The V L & A Chicago Sporting Goods stores were supplied by the H,. H. Heiser Saddlery Company since the late 1800s and later V L & A became even more famous in their own right. They had a bit of an infamous history by having been linked to Al Capone and his mob by selling 2 of the Machine Guns used in the St. Valentines Day Massacre in Chicago in the early 1930s. When this story came out Von Lengerke & Antoinne lost favor in the public eye and by 1938 they were sold out to Abercrombie & Fitch. Both Sporting Goods Stores each used the motto “The Greatest Sporting Goods stores in the World” after years of fighting over that motto Abercrombie & Fitch won out and became the sole user of that motto after 1938. This Double Drop Gun Belt & Holsters Set have the H. H. Heiser oval makers mark which dates this set from 1925 through 1955. Through additional research we found the Heiser did not start selling this set until the mid 1930s so we date this set from between 1935 & 1940 based on the maker and seller histories.
