Frame and principal parts manufacturer was J.P. Sauer & Sohn gmbh of Eckenforde, Germany. Importer, finishing manufacturer, and warrantor was Sig Sauer of Exeter, NH – and each pistol is marked accordingly, as the photos show. From their AL50000 range serial numbers, this batch was originally manufactured in 2008. Type is hammer fired, locked breech, traditional single and double action semi automatic pistol. Construction is steel barrel, hammer, trigger, levers, internal parts; and stainless steel slide, assembled into an alloy frame. Caliber chambering is .40 S&W. Barrel is 3.9 inch, with six groove right hand 1:16 rifling. Slide is beveled steel, with rear serrated laterals. Return system is full length hollow steel guide rod with single braided wire return spring. Sights are dovetailed front and rear, steel 3 white dot system with a 5.7 inch sight radius. This variant does Not have any rail in its frame.Trigger guard is type two squared front, with serrated front strap. Magazine release is set for right hand shooter, but armorer reversible. Decocking system and slide stop favor right handed shooters. Trigger is solid steel .350 smooth faced combat, with matching short spur serrated .310 hammer. Single action trigger pulls at a crisp 4.4 pound vicinity, with a 10 pound vicinity pull on double action. This pistol is double action first shot, single action subsequent until the operator ends the firing session by employing the decocker. The P229 has a firing pin safety, but does not have or need a manually operated safety or magazine safety. Grips are stippled surface factory E2 one piece polymer. Magazines are both factory Sig, made for Sig Sauer by Check-Mate of Babylon, NY. Each holds 12 rounds of .40 S&W Caliber ammunition. .357 Sig and .40 S&W Magazines are interchangeable. Dimensions are 7.1 inch overall length, 5.4 inches height, and 1.5 inch overall width or thickness. Finish is black factory Nitron slide, trigger, and hammer, brushed surface blued barrel, and matte black hard coat anodized frame. This pistol and its mates are what Sig calls a C.P.O., Certified Pre Owned. Each has been refinished and reconditioned by the factory. Surface detractions are negligible, no more slide to barrel and slide to hammer face wear than one sees on brand new display pistols in shops across the country. Each P229 C.P.O. comes in its factory Red Box with protective wrapper, hang tag, chamber protector, total of two magazines, factory cable lock, lubricant package, owners manual that contains Sig’s statement of one year warranty for CPOs, and a never executed factory registration card. Replacement pricing on the nearest current production P229, the E29R-40-BSS, is $1087 on sigsauer com; and all it has that this one doesn’t have is Siglite Night Sights.
