Markings: On the left side of the slide is stamped (P38). Towards the middle of the left side of the slide is stamped (8640 g). On the right of that stamping is, (ac 44). The (ac) means it was produced by Walther. On the left side of the frame is stamped, (8640 g). To the right of that is stamped, (Nazi Eagle symbol with the letters "RFA") under that. On the right side of the slide is stamped, (unknown symbol). To the right of that is the (Nazi Stick Eagle symbol with the numbers "359). To the right of that is stamped, (Nazi Eagle symbol). To the right of that is another (Nazi Stick Eagle symbol with the numbers "359). From the proof house compilation of German ordinance codes, the “359”’s were the Heerswaffenamt inspector’s proof and approval marks for arms being produced during WWII by Walther, Zella-Mehlis, Germany. The serial number (8640g) is stamped on the front of the frame just under the barrel.
Condition: Overall, the remaining bluing I would estimate to be 65% left, with the barrel showing less bluing. Minor pitting noted on frame and slide. No rust noted outside or inside the firearm. As you can see by the pictures posted, I disassembled the firearm to clean it and no rusting was noted at all. The bore looks amazing, bright, shiny and very good rifling. Mechanically appears to function flawlessly. I see no reason you couldn't shot this one at the range for many years to come. As always though, I recommend a licensed gunsmith inspect a firearm as old as this one, prior to running live ammunition.

If buyer decides to return the firearm, buyer must contact me by phone within three days of picking up the firearm from the receiving FFL dealer.
