The foundation of the 700 action, writes the factory, is its unique bolt design. The bolt face, barrel, and receiver surround and support the cartridge head with three overlapping rings of solid steel. The Model 700 receiver is machined from a solid block of ordnance-grade steel, then drilled and tapped for scope mounts. 700 Police rifles have heavy, free-floating 26 inch barrels crowned at the muzzle for unparalleled accuracy and stability. Barrel is recess crowned 26 inch, .810 diameter at the muzzle and .895 at the forend, 1:10 right hand twist. Chambering is .300 Winchester Magnum caliber, 3+1 capacity with classic floorplate type internal magazine. The Model 700P, Remington Continues, features an H-S Precision® composite stock reinforced with Du Pont Kevlar and fiberglass. They'll stay dimensionally stable in any weather and under the worst tactical situations. The stock is laid up around an aircraft-grade aluminum bedding block that runs up the entire length of the receiver. It has a textured, black, non-reflective finish and comes with double forward sling swivel studs. Weight empty is 9 pounds unscoped, with center of gravity beneath the forward end of the chamber. Receiver is drilled and tapped for Weaver 35 and 36 bases, or for 700RHLA One Piece JR Redfield type bases, or for any number of readily available Picatinny type bases. Leupold one piece base numbers are 50003 or 50004. Trigger is .325 smooth faced ribbed steel Remington X-Mark, externally adjustable. It is pre-set on 5 pounds, easily movable up or down. Buttstock length of pull measures 13 5/8 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch factory Super Cell recoil pad; and 700 SPS stocks are known for their pliability and recoil absorbing qualities. 700Ps often command prices upwards of $1500 apiece.
