It is serial numbered in the Model 1892 range (920578) and has a Model 53 barrel on a “Model 92” upper tang. It features a special order crescent butt plate and probably a non-factory installed sling swivel attachment on the butt stock. One can tell the scope mounts are factory by the fact that the Winchester Proof (“WP” in an oval) is stamped on the left rear portion of the barrel rather than the top center. The mounts themselves are typical factory style with appropriate hole spacing and narrow dovetails to match Unertil style rings. The receiver has lost most of its finish but the 22” barrel retains some original blue. The stocks are in good condition, the mechanics are great and the bore is fine. The scope mounts accommodate a nice condition Lyman 5A scope and Winchester external adjustment rings. I would speculate that someone took a number of varmints with this rifle in the late 1920’s. It wasn’t dragged around or beat up – just carefully used. If you are not aware, when you click on an individual picture, there are forward and back arrows in the upper left corner.
