This rifle has been converted from Flintlock to Percussion most likely during the period of the Civil War. This example remains very good with rich patina and is fully functional. 32 ½” barrel is very good, being chambered in .69 Caliber cap & ball. The bore looks good with general age wear. The barrel is marked near the breech with a “Circle P” and is dated “1827”. The percussion nipple sits opposite the “P” mark. The lock is very good being marked “A. Waters”, “US” and “Millbury 1827”. Brass insert installed during conversion. The hammer functions well and works holds on half cock and full cock. The hammer does have a little wiggle on the post; Does not affect functionality. This musket has all correct barrel bands and other hardware. The stock remains very good and appears to have a possible “refinish”; Cartouche is visible but light. A couple light cracks front and back of lockplate. Original “US” marked buttplate intact with light agewear. Original ramrod intact. SCARCE MILLBURY MARKED EXAMPLE!
