Description: This Lyle Gun has been in the equipment inventory of the "Vessel Towing and Salvage Co." for the past 25 + years. It has consistently been maintained in a deployment ready condition. On numerous occasions it has been successfully fired.

At the present time, the salvage company is in the process of retiring. As a result, this gun, as well as a shoulder fired line gun are being offered for sale.

PLEASE NOTE! Although this gun has been properly maintained and stored, without known defects, it is being offered as a nostalgic maritime artifact only. Any usage other than for what is clearly expressed in this offer is entirely at the buyer's sole discretion. No warranty is being offered or implied.

Unlike most Lyle Guns, this one has the ability fold down the barrel and be securely attach it to the carriage frame. The barrel elevation arm can also be detached and secured to the carriage. This greatly improves the gun's potability and storage characteristics. The gun can be stored on its side or in spaces with about 1 foot of vertical clearance. This feature does not in any way hinder the gun's original intended purpose.

On deployment the gun is quickly assembled, charged with black powder (the only suitable charge), loaded with the projectile harpoon and line, primed, firing mechanism attached and fired in less than ten minutes: by experienced personnel.

As stated above, this gun is being sold as an artifact only. No black powder will be include. However, the primer caps will remain in the powder box, as shown in the photos. In all other respects, this Lyle Gun is complete.

The "Vessel Salvage" company was a small maritime towing, rescue and salvage business that primarily operated along the central coastal region of California. Currently, the business is in the process of retiring and will be selling items from its equipment inventory.
