Description: This fine mortar was machined out of solid steel and is designed to withstand the pressures of black powder. It is made for live firing and can fire a 2.625" ball or it is perfectly bored for a soda can full of concrete or mortar, or simply a full soda can. This mortar is equipped with an elevation screw to adjust elevation for very accurate sighting and walking in of targets. The base is solid hardwood and has a deep black lacquer which compliments the black finish of the barrel quite nicely. This mortar can be ignited with fuse or with a friction primer and lanyard. You can see a similar cannon we fired at. The video is entitled "coffeys popcan coehorn" on youtube.com the mortar in the video is the same scale and design exactly. The mortar's base measures 16"L X 7"W X 5"H and the mortar's barrel measures 4" in diameter by 7.5" long with a 2.625" bore.
