Introduced in 1991, this standardization of the sensational Shorty Forty Lew Horton Special was only produced until 1998. It is full time double action; every trigger pull is the same, like a Glock; the hammer does not stand so there can be no single action firing. Safety configuration consists of firing pin block safety and magazine safety. Hammer is black .260 recessed with semi-spur; .304 smooth black combat trigger; and Novak 3-dot night sights. Slide width is less than 1 inch, .984. Barrel length is 3.5 inches; maximum height is 5.5 inches; and maximum length is 7 1/8 inches. It has a lightweight alloy frame, with steel slide and barrel. Weight empty is only 27 ounces. SKU Code is 108902 on this variant. Supica’s and Nahas’s Standard Catalog give minimal serialization for the middle Clinton years, and we estimate this one, with its VDM prefix, was manufactured in 1995 or 1996. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all clean and Excellent; we do not believe this pistol has been fired since it left the factory.

This particular 4053 only has the flat-plate magazine, we did not manage to get the finger rest magazine when we got the pistol. This 4053 is in Excellent Condition with its original box, manual, warranty card, and trigger lock. Surface detractions are minimal, only a few small scuffs between the ejector port and lever stud on the right side, with one scuff on the adjacent edge of the grip. We rate it at 95 percent or better, but photos should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all clean and Excellent; we do not believe this pistol has been fired more than 100 rounds.
