Serial number on this 3913 has a TEB prefix. According to the Standard Catalog, the initial run of some 451 guns in 1989 had a TDF prefix. Prefix is consistent with a First Year of Production dating. We bought this revolver from a young man who thinks he has the box and other magazine, and we have made him a generous offer to find them; that possibility, however, is remote on our view. What we are certain about is that this 3913 is an Excellent Condition, earlier production specimen of the thinnest S&W large caliber auto. Specifications are .260 wide bobbed serrated hammer; .304 wide smooth satin stainless trigger; 25 oz. approximate weight empty; traditional double action. The first shot from rest position is double action, then the hammer stands and all subsequent shots are single action. This one’s single action trigger pull is a stiff but not too mushy 6 7/8 pounds. Magazine capacity is 8 rounds, yielding a total capacity of 9. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are excellent. From our knowledge of its only owner, it has been fired fewer than 300 rounds. Detractions to the finish are minor and inconspicuous, as the photos show. There is light scuffing on the upper right edge of the slide, contact polishing on the forward edges of the frame, and narrow shiny polishing near the left side of the trigger guard. We consider this 3913 Compact to be in Excellent Condition, with more than 90 percent of its original finish remaining. Own this Excellent, early 3913 for only $ 489.95
